Yep, she was moved from Baylor. I was not happy with that decision either but I have no say and they would never listen to my thoughts on it. She was moved to Baylor once she was stable in ICU. FIL was sold on it being the best place for her but I think once she got there, they were pushing her pretty hard and she didn't like it. She suffers from depression as well so I think that was playing a part. She always feels everyone is out to get her so I think maybe when the staff pushed her, she felt attacked. Said they 'were abusing patients'.

Also, it's pretty far from where they live and my FIL wasn't able to be with her as much (since still working FT). She wanted to go somewhere 'gentler' and he wanted her closer so they got her moved. Probably a very bad decision from what I know about Baylor.

That's rough all the way around and an example of why I think hospitals and rehab places, and really anywhere, needs to treat the whole person and not just why they are there. It wouldn't have been located closer to home, and maybe they did do this and it didn't help/work, but if they'd just have spoken with her about it all and figured out how best to work with her to be able to gently push without forcing or making it a bad thing. Rehab is never fun and you'll get out of it what you put into it and I hope the new place isn't too gentle. My great aunt had to have two different knee surgeries because she didn't properly rehab the first time, meaning didn't do anywhere near as much as she was supposed to. Part of that is just getting old and stubborn I'm sure :) But people doing rehab for any reason aren't always going to be in the right frame of mind and if she already has problems with depression I can only imagine what all of this that's been out of her control has done to her. It's also unfortunate that they won't listen to you.

Thank you all for the Welcome and Advise!

For some reason I was thinking Chase 5/24 rule was ONLY for Chase cards. Thanks for setting me straight! I will pick a Chase card to get started and will do the referral thing once I get signed up for your redit site.

Ok, so my wife has a legit business of around 5 years. I am listed as VP or something like that on paper. Guess I could claim that, the problem being the business is in FL and I'm in DC. So the card may ship to the business address?

On the other hand, I rent a house out. So maybe that is a business? It doesn't have an EIN number, though.

We are DVC, so points would be used at or near Universal, as we are switching from WDW AP to Universal AP.

@SouthFayetteFan has offered to get me into the private Reddit group (for a reasonable initiation fee ;) ). Of which I am grateful, because I honestly don't think I can keep up with y'all here. Been trying for a few weeks now, and keep falling behind.

Welcome :) Your rental house would absolutely count as a business. You do not need an EIN. Just apply with your first and last name as the name of your biz, SSN instead of EIN and as a sole proprietor.

When I type in my info it tells me I have no apps in the last 90 days. I know it went through because I see the hard pull and got the need more info message.

Does it take a few days to show up for anyone?
Did you do a personal or business app? That is for business apps.

Business. I applied on Sat or Sunday. I got the message that that need more info and they would call or send a letter. I received a missed call Monday while I’m working which I assumed was them. Still waiting for a letter. I guess I could call but I hate calling. I’ll give it a few days and call if needed.

Yaaaayyyyy! I’m so excited. Our upcoming cruise is less than 3 weeks away. Didn’t book anything thru Disney but wanted to do Palo brunch. It was all sold out. Until today! I got a res for DH and I which will be perfect. Our 30th anniversary is next Monday. We celebrate each year by eating at a restaurant we’ve never been to before. Some we never eat at again, while others have become faves. This year Palo can be our new place to eat! Plus the upgrade of my Disney Visa will net me $51 towards brunch. (Is it wrong that I told all of you before I told DH? )
Yay! Palo brunch might be what I'm most excited for next month

I think you will be fine choosing either as your business, just apply in your first and last name ONLY and your SSN as the EIN. Do not add anything fancy such as Hoosier John Rentals. Of course if you do have a business with an EIN you can use that, just know the process may be a little harder. They will ask for verification and you will need to provide documents, which sounds like you do have, it will just take longer. Most people start with the Chase Ink Preferred Business card mostly because it has the highest Sign Up Bonus and you can then refer your spouse and get referral points plus another sign up bonus. Good Luck!

Hmm, idk! I just put in my dh's info since I app'ed for him several days ago and his denial came up. I've used this checker within 24 hours of applying so if you applied last weekend, it should definitely work now.

Sorta :offtopic: but sorta not.....UNLIMITED VACATION!!! party: Well, not really. :smooth:

Does anyone work for a company that offers Discretionary Time OFF (DTO)?

DH received an email today saying he would be switched over to DTO effective July 1, 2019. While shiny, bright and exciting, I know they are not doing this out of the kindness of their heart. FYE is September 30 so they are trying to dump the ETO liability by then and the affected employees are being urge to use up their time immediately. Of course we have a vacation planned for mid September to use up the remaining FY 2019 days, and another end of October to draw from the FY 2020 bunch that he has not put in a request for time off for either yet. Not sure how this is going to go over with the new policy.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this policy, especially from those who have/had this "benefit". :disrocks:

Both you and your wife definitely qualify for business cards....you would use your first name, last name and SS number as the business name and EIN...and your home address

We are DVC also...and use Chase URs to be able to visit Orlando more frequently since my son lives there now

Somebody here does have a business based on their rental. I believe it is @CyndiLouWho . Use your social and make the business name your first and last name.

As far as your wife's business I am sure you could also get a card that way, but it seems there are more hoops to jump through. Good luck!

Me too! Used it for my delta biz amex and included my salary and just the rental income for the alaska biz.

Hi! I'm planning a huge disney world vacation with my husband, 2 kids, parents, and sister in 2021. I want it to be as close to free as possible and want to start earning points now. I would love your advice on how to do this! Also, please let me know if it's too early to start this because the points will expire before I can use them. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Below are my responses to your questions:

1) First off, we are going to want you to list ALL credit cards you were approved for in the last 24 months. This would include all personal cards, store cards, business cards (but not things such as auto loans or mortgages). If you have a spouse (aka Player 2) please also list their cards if they are participating in this as well.

ALL PERSONAL CREDIT CARDS
09/17 - Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa Platinum
09/17 - Bank of America Cash Rewards Visa Signature
09/17 - Chase Freedom Unlimited
09/17 - Barclays Cash Forward
12/17 - Kohls
07/18 - Macys

2) Secondly we'll want to know a little bit about you. Specifically - what you spend, and what you want to earn!
  • What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)? Anywhere from $4k-$6k per month
  • Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest? Pay in full every month
  • What airport(s) do you typically fly out of? Detroit (DTW)
  • Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program? I prefer Delta but I'm open to other airlines
  • Does SOUTHWEST service your airport? Yes
  • Do you have a Hotel Rewards program preference? No but I want to stay in a Disney resort or the Swan/Dolphin Marriott
  • Do you currently have any travel points in any program? (if so, which programs and how much) I have about 50k points with Us Bank
  • What at your specific goals for churning credit cards? (i.e. Disney World Trip, Cruise, European Trip, 'sCash Back to pay-off a mortgage or student loans, etc. - you can have multiple goals too!) I want to take my whole family, including 5 adults and 2 kids, to Disney World in 2021 for as close to free as possible. I want this to include the flights, park tickets, hotel, food, etc. I want to do a 7 day trip.

:welcome: Wow a first post to the Dis on our thread! So it is definitely not too early to start! Are the cards listed in your name, husbands name, combination, or are either of you listed as AU's? It is an important part of step 1 to let us know who the cards belong to. It looks like you have the Chase Freedom, which is a great card to have and it looks like you usually just cash out all your rewards. Many of us like to start with Chase cards but you can't have more than 5 cards in the last 24 months in order to get them. I am not sure if the Kohl's and Macy's cards count in this number (Do they have a Visa or other logo like that on them?). Also many of us like to get Business cards because they do not count in your 5 card limit. Do you have something that could qualify you for this? Do you sell on ebay/facebook/poshmark/etsy etc, rent a house, tutor, mow grass, etc etc. In addition to Chase a lot of people are now going for AA miles cards, not to use for flying but to use for getting Disney hotels through the AAmiles portal. Two years is a great amount of time to earn points, but it is also dangerous because programs can and WILL change. Just last year we were able to use our Chase URs to directly book Disney hotels and buy Disney tickets. Sadly that is no longer the case, but we are hopeful that it could return. And the AA miles people are chasing still work, but seem to be not as great of a deal as they were just a few weeks ago. So know that things can and do change. I think the Chase URs are versatile and can be cashed out if necessary and fairly easy to accumulate so that is a good place to start.

I am having a whole bunch of issues at Walmart trying to load my sunrise VGCs to serve, but im pretty sure the people don't know how to load serve. I was going without any issues and now the last two times I have had two cashiers who insist on swiping the serve card on my side of the terminal. When I went before and it actually worked the cashier swiped the serve card and I swiped the debit card. Isn't that how it is supposed to work?
I’ve been having issues with serve at wm in general. Been using dg and fd. Just got a bluebird card because I’ve read that’s been smooth sailing at wm.

My husband does! I was super skeptical about it when he first started for his company, but honestly it's been great. He has never been questioned about any time he's taken off, and honestly it's been more of his boss asking him why he isn't taking more vacation. I think it really depends on company culture though. But no complaints about it here.
