and I am worried about having them extracted. Yes, I am 23 and have two baby teeth (1st molar on lower left and lower right). But the roots have almost completely dissolved. On the left, it has dissolved up to the nerve and hurts. On the other side, the roots are almost gone but there is also an abcess.

Did I mention that I hate needles? So I am worried about the novicane too. I just want it to be over and the pain to be over! I am sick of taking antibiotics and lots of advil... and to think that in a little while, I will have to have oral surgery to do dental implants - that is my choice though.

Uh, I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

Oh, did I mention that we go to WDW in 9 days?

Good luck! I hate needles too. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted at once and it was a piece of cake for me. Hopefully this won't be too bad for you either. Have a great trip to WDW! :)

I feel for you... although I'm currently studying to be a dentist, I hate for anyone to even look in my mouth. (I have a lot of anxiety over dental visits)
My first suggestion, definately get the teeth out this week before you go to WDW. Then make sure you don't do anything to cause yourself a dry socket (no sucking on straws, cigarettes, heavy lifting, etc..)
Secondly, ask for Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas). It really helps take the edge off for those of us that are nervous around the dentist.
Good luck, it'll be easier than you think!!!

I had a baby tooth removed about a year ago - and I'm 33! It was really not bad at all. The worst part was the needle and if you can get the gas it would probably help. I also agree that you should have it done a week before your trip. Any problems would show up before you leave.

I have a fear and dread of needles in my mouth, too. I hope your procedure is painless.

Been there, done that, and I feel your pain! Too bad you had to have teeth removed so close to your Disney trip. Will you be able to eat anything? I had my molars removed 3 years ago at the age of 22, and I remember eating soft foods for over a week. Mashed potatoes, eggs, etc.

Weird! I have the very same thing...except I'm 35! I just had the lower right taken out last month and have a temporary bridge in. I should have the permanent bridge put in some time next month. My lower left is in pretty good shape and doesn't have to come out yet. It wasnt too bad of a procedure. I had the laughing gas to calm me down and if it wasnt for the bright lights I probably would have fallen asleep. Use the bathroom first though because it does take a while :p .

Thanks for all the support... my doctor said something really nice. He said that although this is a once in a lifetime thing for me, they see it every day. Between that and what everyone has said, I definately do not feel alone in the world.

I had forgotten about the gas! I told my DH that he needs to tell them I want it in case I forget.

As far as eating, I am sure that in a week I will be fine and I plan on taking off work Thursday and Friday (so no chance of heavy lifting). Those are my soft food days. Anyone know if milk is good for healing in these kind of situations? (as long as it isn't through a straw)
