We have purchased and sold DVC contracts in the past, and our family has really enjoyed them. The contract we most recently had with only 180 points was not working anymore for us as we have to stay in a two bedroom so we sold it. We want to purchase again and this time get at least 300 points. Those Vero beach contracts do look so tempting. I know we would loose our booking window (as we would use this for DW) and I know Disney can change the rules, but OH the price! Has anyone done this? Please talk me into (or out of) this.

Before you buy at VB, check out the annual maintenance fees there. They are usually among the highest.

If you aren't picky about where you stay, SSR is usually the best happy place of price per point + maintenance.

VB is at $8.08. SSR is around $5.43. This can add up if you need a lot of points.

You could have purchased an additional contract and combined the points for your larger reservation. Smaller point contracts are easer to sell later, if VB made sense for WDW stays, there wouldn't be any available for sale.

I wouldn't do it would want the knowledge that I can book WDW at 11 months no matter what.

With a large family I'd buy AKV and book Kidani. Can't beat it for space and the three bathrooms and kids totally love it.

I realize it's too late now but another option rather than selling the 200-point contract would have been to purchase a 120-point add-on contract to get you to 300 points. With that many points it can be helpful to split your points across more than one contract. If you stop going to Disney quite so often in the future you can lighten up on points by selling one of your contracts.

At 7 months you book as one reservation which is what you'd have been looking at with a VB contract. I'd also look at a couple contacts in the same UY. As mentioned maintenance fees at VB will eventually eat into the original savings. And you would always have to wait until 7 months.

I agree with SSR or AKL, Vero doesn't really make sense if you aren't planning to stay there with the existing MFs. SSR is getting harder to get/pass ROFR, but AKL you can still get at a decent price and the advantage of the 2BR value if you plan 11 months out may be beneficial for your large family. IMO SSR is the best value to use for WDW for this situation staying standard view at SSR or at OKW. At some point it's unlikely you'll need as many points as you will now. Buying a contract in the 250 range that's loaded with banked and current UY points will likely be your best option no matter where you decide to buy. I would not buy AKV unless it were a fair amount cheaper than SSR or unless you wanted to stay there almost every trip. I would not buy VB unless it were a full 10% cheaper over the life of the contract compared to SSR factoring in dues and inflation. That'd likely require the current difference or more and a subsidized contract both to just break even.

DVC just reallocated SSR points so that there are now two booking categories - preferred and standard. The standard buildings (Grandstand, Paddock & Carousel) require less points than do the preferred buildings (The Springs & Congress Park). So if you like the standard view locations, you might be able to get by with less points than you did previously.

The trick with multiple contracts is to make sure they are titled EXACTLY the same and put under the same membership. If that is done, the booking and banking operates just as though it were one large contract. No need to book each separately, which should help with the OCD.

It is getting harder to book at seven months out. Lots of competition with all the new DVC resorts. I'd buy somewhere you can at least book WDW at 11 months out.

We bought where we wanted to stay as BWV as it is difficult to book at certain times of year and we go for two weeks, if you don't mind where you stay and only go for short periods you'll be able to get something at the 7 month mark otherwise you might end up having to wait list to get what you want or do split stays.

For my 2 cents worth. I would go with SSR. Remember: OKW,BC,BWV, VWL, and VB have expiration dates of 2042, sometime in the futures those expiration dates will be effecting the resale prices!
