I Knew You Would Eventually Get Tired of Disney World - April '12 TR - Completed 2/9

Getting caught up today, I wasn't as far behind as I thought I would be, luckily for me you had a vacation in there!

I love those cave/cavern type places. I used to live close to Roanoke, VA and we had always planned to see the Luray Caverns, we would always pass there on various trips back and forth to Philly (where I am originally from) but we never made it there. I have been to the ones at Natural Bridge though and they seem fairly similar.

Looks like you had a great meal at Ohana! I really want to try that one someday, hopefully next trip.

Love Emily's Rapunzel Doll! I love that movie, but I don't think even bribery would get me on TOT again, I went once, and that was enough for me! :scared1:

Great picture!

I'm actually paying attention.

Paying attention enough to know that you turned an Iron Maiden concert in Indy Jones and there were rebel spies in the audience looking for people who tried to sneak in from Universal studios. Wait, that's not quite right, is it?

I have to say that Emily got a great extortion gift for riding ToT. I wonder what she's going to ask for next year - a new car maybe?

As many times as I've seen RnR I still can't get the preshow skit right. But, I have to agree....Sweet Emotion IS the best song for that ride. :thumbsup2

While we wait, I'd like to share with you a few more pics I took at the Iron Maiden concert last month.

Monkey? Ape?

Iron Maiden is performing in my neck of the woods tonight (Indianapolis).

Which reminds me, before the Indy show, the host was asking for volunteers. One selection really stuck out to me.

Host: "And that lovely young lady over there."

Guest: "I'm a guy!"

Host: "You're still beautiful. Come on down."

We went to Disney World with my MIL last October and we attended the Halloween party one night. As we were entering the Winnie the Pooh ride the CM said to my MIL "Have a good evening sir". Oops. Well, it was dark.

Great update! I had no idea that Iron Maiden and Indy shows were so similar! :rotfl:

How cool that Dylan got to have a Stormtrooper photo op! My DH would have loved that! And Emily was the Rebel Spy? Adorable.

I'm a huge proponent of ride bribery. Yay Emily! Way to stay strong!

Congrats on the win Kristen! And you have a husband that admits that you beat him? :thumbsup2

I didn't, either, until I started writing this last update :)

The spy thing is really funny. I had a feeling she'd get it at some point. Doesn't hurt to ride it 5 times, just to be sure!

It's shared sacrifice. We both get something we want, but give something up in the process!

Congrats on the win Kristen! And you have a husband that admits that you beat him? :thumbsup2

Yeah, but she clearly cheated.

Monkey? Ape?

Actually, more of a zombie, but I can see how he looks a bit monkish in this picture!

And you're not there? :confused3

I've been in situations where I've had to skirt around the fact that I didn't know the gender of the person I was talking to. It's not fun!

I'm actually paying attention.

Hey, you nailed it! BTW, I WILL start reading your TR at some point. I've fallen behind on almost all of them :(

Updates may be tricky this weekend, but I'll try!

Dang....how many updates am I behind this time (sorry...dealing with the Nursing Home and now Hospice).

I ALWAYS get lost at the Studios. I don't know what it is? I always want to go the wrong way to TSM and then from there I'm just lost. I don't know what it is about that park; I don't have that problem at the Animal Kingdom and to me it is even more confusing. :lmao::lmao:

Great pictures; love Em's gift for riding TOT (my favorite ride by the way), and great shot of Dylan with the Stormtroopers!

All caught up!

Who knew Iron Maiden and Indiana Jones had so much in common?! :confused3

Very encouraged Dylan had what appear to be two good meals in a row!:thumbsup2

If I'd known there were prizes available for riding ToT, perhaps I would have by now!

Love Star Tours... very cool to see Stormtroopers as you were leaving!

Love One Man's Dream... definitely worth spending some quality time there. How do you not remember veggie, veggie fruit, fruit???

Bribery huh.

Poor Poor Dylan. But hey, he got a solo RnR with Dad so that's not so bad of a consolation prize!

Love Iron Maiden...Indy style that is.

Wow, how about that episode of Big Brother? Unreal! One week in, and already, ACTION.

But enough about that...how about the big news about this trip report? Have you heard?

It has now been viewed more times than my original trip report. It's still a very long way behind my last trip report, but I s'pose if I updated it, well, ever, I'd have more readers. But I do have some readers. Here's what they're saying:

I ALWAYS get lost at the Studios. I don't know what it is? I always want to go the wrong way to TSM and then from there I'm just lost. I don't know what it is about that park; I don't have that problem at the Animal Kingdom and to me it is even more confusing. :lmao::lmao:

I just can't navigate non-hubs! I need a central point. I need a Castle, or a ball, or a tree.

Love One Man's Dream... definitely worth spending some quality time there. How do you not remember veggie, veggie fruit, fruit???

I think I missed that era of Epcot. I was there one of the first years, but not back for quite some time. I think it's due to come back :) I want the full Journey into Imagination back, too.

Poor Poor Dylan. But hey, he got a solo RnR with Dad so that's not so bad of a consolation prize!

Yeah, he'll have you believe everything is unfair against him! Kid doesn't understand how lucky he is!

Ok, now here are some updates!

It's Friendship Boat time, for our ADRs at the Cape May Cafe. We like this place for three reasons:

1. They have snow crab legs
2. We've visited the actual Cape May several times
3. They have snow crab legs

Correct! So off we go to a resort Kristin would LOVE to stay at. Me? Not so much. Can't argue with the pool area, though.

IMG_2117.jpg

And look at the movie selection!

IMG_2119.jpg

Killer Klownz from Outer Space? Trilogy of Terror? Cool as Ice? At Disney? Not complaining, just reporting!

I always feel a bit odd walking around here, since it has a vibe of "you're not welcome here" around the pool. I mean, look at the pool. It's amazing.

What?

Where's the photo?

Sorry, no photo. I tried to take one, but the Beach Club bouncers smashed my camera before I could get it. But seriously, there's this amazing pool 5 feet away, and I'm not even supposed to look at it.

"Yacht and Beach Club Guests Only", it says. Had I brought my resort mug, $5 says they'd toss me out of WDW forever.

So instead, I keep my eyes and brand-new, not-smashed camera on the road ahead.

IMG_2120.jpg

This resort is a little too stuffy for me. Yacht Club is even worse. Don't get me wrong - the location is fantastic, and these places are beautiful. And that pool...that pool...

...but I'm content to just eat here. But not yet! Our ressie isn't up yet. Kristin sits in a big chair, I go to check out our Photopass pics, and the kids plop down in front of the tube.

IMG_2121.jpg

I love that they still have this in the lobbies, and that they play the old cartoons. MAKE the kids respect them. They're what made us what we are today.

And what that is is a guy with a PhotoPass card. I ask to view the pictures, which I always feel cheap doing, since I don't ever buy anything. I don't think they mind, though. It gives them something to do.

Ok, pretty good pics...ooh, that's a nice one. And that one. And those girls look like they're having fun with Cinderella.

Wait, what?

"Those girls"? Who are "those girls"?

Well, there's only one answer, and that's, "I have no idea". Somehow, someone elses pics ended up on our card. And in the middle of the pictures, which makes even less sense. The FP CM can't comprehend it, either. If I had purchased them, I could've used them in a ficticious trip report, with all kinds of ridiculous falsehoods like finding the manhole to the Utilidors, defeating Voldemort and watching Fantasmic without being eaten alive. But I have enough trouble keeping up with this "real" trip report as it is. So one we go.

The buzzer goes off. One of the kids has it - I think Emily, though the two did fight over it. Or was it Dylan? Or Kristin? Man, I just don't remember. I would think it wouldn't be Em, after the "behind the couch drop" stunt at Coral Reef. But which one of us was it?

See, I should just write fake reports. Down we sit, and it's off to the races.

IMG_2123.jpg

IMG_2124.jpg

IMG_2125.jpg

Legs, soup, cod bites, respectively. All three were superb. Hey, where are the drinks?

I think I got a Dogfish Head IPA, which is what I usually get outside of World Showcase. Kristin gets a Unicorn Rainbow Flowers and Shoes Girlie Cocktail. The kids get...something. Em AGAIN makes me photograph her mac & cheese.

IMG_2126.jpg

So what gives? Are these all of the pictures? Was the meal that bad?

No, it was really GOOD! Kristin basically gets nothing but crab legs, while I get an assortment. The kids just eat mac & cheese, including "adult meal credit" Dylan.

Maybe the lack of pictures was due to the non-lack of drama. As in, missing Rapunzel drama. She's gone.

I walk out to the stroller...not there. Out to the TV area...not there. Back in I go, and we continue eating. Em is not happy, but feeling guilty, so she's not crying.

Dylan, on the other hand, is up on a soapbox, telling Emily how irresponsible she was, and how, even though he previously lost this Star Wars hat, he at least had it for more than two hours before losing it.

Kristin decides to go out and look for the doll now, and does something that I should've done, but didn't: ask at the front desk. So did they have the doll?

They did. But that's not all. They had Dylan's hat.

Yep, his hat. Krisitin returns with the hat, and once-smug Dylan's reaction is PRICELESS. Watch your mouth, kid! Hopefully a lesson learned.

But they love each other all the same.

IMG_2127.jpg

Dessert time now. Here's a picture, but no explanation.

IMG_2129.jpg

Everyone's happy now, because all is right. We had a great day at Hollywood Studios...no rush, but lots accomplished. We drew TWO characters. We saw Indy. We rode the biggies. Emily got Rapunzel. But it's time to head home. CSR home, that is. Kristin decides the best way to do that is by taxi, and I agree. CSR is practically in walking distance from here, so it's a cheap ride, and certainly better than going back to HS and waiting for a bus. Of course, we don't get to hear anyone complain that the driver "missed the entrance" to CSR tonight, but I'm sure we'll get more of that tomorrow.

Back to the resort we go, in time for a swim. The slide is open, which is great news. I get yelled at for putting Dylan on my shoulders, which probably isn't a bad thing, since the next step is to toss him skyward. That would probably knock him unconscious.

IMG_2135.jpg

So it's best that didn't happen. I have to tell Dylan to not do the "dead man's" front float, for reasons that should be obvious. Emily takes to the sky.

IMG_2136.jpg

Yes, it was a great day. And it ended great. Y'know, there may be a Disney future for us afterall.

IMG_2131.jpg

But there's still 3 more days to go! We're not out of the woods yet!

(up next, Day 9!)

[POST=45699822](next update)[/POST]

Great update! Cape May looks good. We had a reservation there on one trip, but ended up swapping it for something else. I can't remember why. I might have to put it back on the list!

I love that they still have this in the lobbies, and that they play the old cartoons. MAKE the kids respect them. They're what made us what we are today.

My DS (who is only 2.5) actually asks for "classic Mickey cartoons" on the rare occasions that it offer something on TV to watch. It's pretty hilarious. He loves "Crazy over Daisy" right now.

I always wanted to try Cape May dinner, but wasn't sure if my two picky eaters would like anything. Now that I know they have Mac n Cheese I am going to Reserve it for my next trip.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I'm here for an update. Yes, I do rock at times. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, great update!

I'm with Kristin...the Beach Club is the one resort I still want to try that we haven't tried (but I have to wait for a really good deal for that one).

Now you have me trying to figure out where I can squeeze Cape May Cafe in our trip in 52 days. We've not been since they put the crab legs back on the buffet. :scared1:

I'm so glad that Rapunzel and THE hat were found. And you can just see the love between the two siblings.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I'm here for an update. Yes, I do rock at times. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You rock ALL the time ;)

It would probably still be my choice of Epcot resorts, if only for that pool. That pool...

I think they have pizza, too. They have a few things even picky eaters might like.

Dylan gets mad when Disney Channel shows the old cartoons, since they cut them down due to time constraints. But not as mad as he is about "the direction they've taken Captain Hook" with Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I'm surpised he hasn't written Disney a letter yet about that one.

I just ove the way your kids obviously love each other!!!

They have a funny way of showing it most of the time.

No updates tonight, but I'll try to get the pics uploaded to help facilitate a Thursday start to Day 9. Thanks again for reading!

Great update! I can see what you mean about Yacht and Beach club being a little stuffy but I would stay there (if I got a great deal) even if it was only for the location. One thing I don't like about the Epcot resorts is that they all share a bus (Y and BC, BWI, and S & D) to the other parks. I think that if people pay the mucho dinero that it costs to stay there they deserve their own bus. Or at least to not share with so many hotels.

Looks like you had a great meal at Cape May, Glad that Rapunzel (and Dylan's hat) were found!

I'm with Kristen and Kathy on the Beach Club. I'd love to stay there, but still waiting on the elusive PIN Code to afford it. :lmao:

We LOVE Cape May! The crab legs are amazing, and of course they have the best dessert on property... the Oreo BonBons. :lovestruc. Between DD and I, I think we put away 10 on our last visit.

Yay for Rapunzel being found!! And the hat of course. Poor Dylan, nothing really goes his way does it? ;)

Sounds like you had a fantastic day!

Great ending to a great day!

Wait - I remember Dylan lost his hat, but was it at the BC? So confused. :confused3 So glad you found the hat and Rapunzel. That was good luck.

I love CMC and your pictures make me want to go back there to eat.

I loved staying at the BC (villas). Out of all the Disney resorts I've stayed at, that one really did have the best customer service. Everyone was so nice. I hate stuffy, but I did not find it stuffy at all to stay there. I thought they were way more stuffy and not nearly as nice at the Boardwalk.

Kristin - You need a plan to get your BC stay. :thumbsup2

Smart move on taking the cab home!
