I Knew There Was A Reason Why I've Always Hated My Birthday - COMPLETE

You are exactly right about Hollywood Tower. It's perfect. They leave chocolates on the pillows and everything!
I love that crossroads of the world thing. I mean, I have no clue what it is, but Mickey's on top of it, so...
Um yeah, I hate to break it to you, but there is a legit full on stage at the hat now. I'm not a fan. Just hoping it isn't permanent!
TSM really is the best, isn't it? It's just a perfect blend of competition and pure FUN. Oh, and Toy Story characters.
I LOVE the Hollywood outfits, they are so perfect. Your pics are so cute!
NOTE TO SELF: get a friggen cupcake next trip.
YAY, great update!

Thanks, Jess! You are too sweet!!

The funny thing is that the disaster that my life has become is starting to push me towards a career in mental health counseling. Because I know firsthand just how miserable mental illness can be, I feel like I'd be able to get through to patients in ways that other psychiatrists/counselors cannot. I have always felt that I'm supposed to do something important with my life, so maybe this is it. Maybe everything I've gone through hasn't been for nothing. :confused3

Aw, I can't wait for frumpy hugs! And the Kitchen Sink! :goodvibes

That's awesome! I'm telling you, do what makes you happy. These "mid-college crises" I think have a reason for seeping into our brains. It point us towards what we're meant to do. So just follow your heart, and you will get there! :goodvibes

And ME EITHER!!!!! I think Kristen said 183 days. God, please come FASTER.

I'm like... when did I get back from Disney? Oh it's only been two days you say? I have a problem.

-------------------------

A LARGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR KATIE AND WADE! Bright and early. I am impressed! Are they still together by the way?

TOY STORY IS MY FAVORITE RIDE TOO!!!!! You're probably going to get sick of my obsession by the end of my next trip report. But OMG it's absolutely the best.

TOY STORY <3 <3 SIR YES SIR! I AM NOT YOUR MOTHER, BREAK THOSE PLATES!!! God, I said it EVERY SINGLE TIME. I can't even EXPLAIN the love.

I legitimately think that I built up arm muscle this past trip in my TSM arm. I have weak arms too and they get SO TIRED by the end of that ride. Yet, I love it i love it I LOVE IT!!!!!

Aww your picture with Chip N Dale is really cute <3

YUM best morning EVER. TSM and Red Velvet Cupcakes are basically my life in a nutshell.

Huge props to Katie and Wade for being the first at their turnstile! That is an accomplishment right there! ::yes:: And the film crew btw, that you saw by the entrance were fake, they were recently added around the time you joined. Just an FYI there :)

LOL @ your *NSYNC comment. I seriously don't get why that is ever there. I mean, I know when I was there they had it up for the ESPN weekend, but it just looks plain. :confused3

That's awesome your sister got FPs! What a great sister you have :teeth: LOVE TSM! And it really has the most encouraging and best lines to get you in the game. And your score is crazy! I feel like such a fail seeing all these insane scores. I think I may faint if you break 200,000, I don't think I've broken 100,000... yeah failure, but I'm totally taking that game down my next visit ::yes::

Love all your character pictures! I love all the Red Carpet garb the characters get at Hollywood studio and I think Chip & Dale are some of the best. Fedoras always look good. And Minnie always looks adorable, I will admit :) Love the broom guys too, The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a great little sequence :goodvibes

Mmmm... that Red Velvet Cupcake looks delicious! I can't wait until I get the chance to have one of those, they just look so good. Maybe I'll show these to the maternal unit and then I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD lol

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

:hug::hug: Cheers to you for still trying to make the most of your trip, considering. I'm so sorry your dad had to miss the rest of it. Oh man, if I was rich I would send you all there right now to make up for what happened.

AHH THE HOLLYWOOD TOWER HOTEL, my second home! You know, it looks normal but every time I stay there I find there is something that is just not right about that place.

The most fun you've ever had x20 is a good way to describe Toy Story Mania. Though, I usually describe it as "The way I'm going to die."

I think my favorite TSM is at the end when they tally your scores, because Jessie says "TAAAAAAAAAAAARNATION!" and it kills me every time. I've been saying "Tarnation!" since we got home and people think I'm even weirder now.

Did you ever break BOTH of the flying plates? I hear that is the key to cracking 200,000. That or taking a hefty dose of speed. I'm going to try both next time. See what happens.

OMG such a cute Minnie pic! I love when they wear something other than their normal clothes.

sdklfjsdlahsfkl hTHAT CUPCAKE. I'm going to cry. I miss it so much. I miss it more than I miss friends and family I haven't seen in awhile. HELP ME.

Um... TVD tonight and 30 ROCK NEXTWEEKEKEJKNHASDKLFGJAHSDLKJAHSLKJB!!!! Btw, I don't even remember what happened on TVD last. I'm basically just in it for the Damon bath scenes at this point. I have to go to Wikipedia and look up what the hell is going on anyway though, just in case.

This is so funny. When my boyfriend and I went out for the first time he said to me, "If you could do anything, what would it be?" And without even thinking I blurted out, "Become a Jungle Cruise Skipper of course!"

Kindred spirits, you and me.
:rotfl: I love it.
I so want that cupcake! The butterfinger one that keeps popping up in trip reports is also on my list to try. I just hope they are really as good as they look.
I LOVE Butterfingers, but, for some reason, I'm apprehensive about trying it. It looks does look delicious though.
I'm sorry you were still feeling down that morning, but I'm glad your dad was able to get a flight home so fast!

MGM... Hollywood Studios! That Tower Hotel picture makes me want to go ride Tower of Terror right this instant. Gosh, I miss that ride.

I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm for Toy Story Mania... and the way you enter your ride vehicle! ;) That's the only way to do it!

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. That CUPCAKE! Heaven on a plate. Absolutely delicious. Yummmmmmmmmm!
We were worried that finding a flight would be impossible since it was 4th of July week, but there were actually quite a few spots available. And the price wasn't absolutely horrible, either.

I could really go for one of those cupcakes right now. :cloud9:
Okay, I just HAVE to reply. Number one, I love your writing style; I've been lurking this TR forever and I just finally decided I have to say hi and stuff. But um, yes, I love all of your references to random dorky things that I totally GET.

Number two, I'm so sorry about your dog. That is literally a nightmare to me and I have two dogs who I love very very much that I have a hard time thinking about life without them... I'm just really sorry and I can't even imagine the pain you've gone through/are going through. Just hang in there, things will get better over time. (I know everyone else has said similar things but I just had to chime in, because, yeah..)

Number three, I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE RED VELVET CUPCAKE, TOO! I am going to Disney World in 2 weeks (:yay:) and this is seriously one of the top items on my list. I LOVE red velvet cake, I LOVE cupcakes (yes, we had cupcakes at our wedding with Wall-E and Eve as our cake toppers), soooo basically I am going to run and take out whoever I have to upon entering HS so I can have my cupcake. (And yes, I just pictured me taking out some lady on a scooter and some poor little kid, and I may/may not have just laughed. A lot. Does that make me a bad person?)

Anyway, I just wanted to say I've read this ENTIRE TR (more like I played catch up and stuff) and wanted to say hi and let you know how much I've enjoyed following along, through the ups and the downs. :goodvibes
Welcome! Thank you so much for the kind words! :)

Wall-E and Eve cake toppers? Adorable.

I hope you have an AMAZING trip! The Red Velvet cupcake will not disappoint. And, no, laughing at the image of yourself knocking over the elderly and little children does not make you a bad person. Well, if it does, I am also a bad person, so at least you're in good company. ;)
I am so sry about ur dog and sry ur dad had to miss the rest of the trip
Thanks you! :goodvibes

YAY, great update!
A full stage? What? Now I know how fans of the Chinese Theater felt when they built a giant hat in front of it. :rotfl:

Absolutely get a cupcake (or 5) next time you're down there. :thumbsup2
That's awesome! I'm telling you, do what makes you happy. These "mid-college crises" I think have a reason for seeping into our brains. It point us towards what we're meant to do. So just follow your heart, and you will get there! :goodvibes

YUM best morning EVER. TSM and Red Velvet Cupcakes are basically my life in a nutshell.
Tomorrow's my 6 month mark! If all goes well, we will be arriving at WDW on July 6th. WOOHOOOOOOO!! :cool1:

Yep, Katie and Wade are still together. They go to different colleges, so they're doing the long distance thing, but it works. In fact, they're coming up on their two year anniversary.

I will never get sick of your TSM obsession. NEVER.

You should probably include 'TSM and Red Velvet Cupcake enthusiast' to your resume. :thumbsup2
Huge props to Katie and Wade for being the first at their turnstile! That is an accomplishment right there! ::yes:: And the film crew btw, that you saw by the entrance were fake, they were recently added around the time you joined. Just an FYI there :)

Katie's a commando-park-touring monster.

The funny thing is that *NSYNC actually did perform in that exact spot which I remind everyone I'm with whenever we walk though. I'm such a dedicated (obnoxious) fan. :thumbsup2

I'm usually terrible at any and all video game type things (sans Rock Band and all the dance games) but I was a TSM natural. I've never had a score lower than 130,000.

Persuading your mother with cupcakes is an excellent plan. There's a cupcake pictures thread somewhere on the Restaurant board.
:hug::hug: Cheers to you for still trying to make the most of your trip, considering. I'm so sorry your dad had to miss the rest of it. Oh man, if I was rich I would send you all there right now to make up for what happened.

Dad actually flew back to Orlando the next morning. Riley died a half hour before his plane landed in Cleveland, so after making the necessary arrangements and packing up Riley's things, he booked another flight to come back and join us. We figured it would be best for all of us to be together.

I've never done the flying plates thing, but I've heard that's the trick. I wonder if one person has to take down both plates or if you can team up with whoever you're riding with and each do one. It would be easier that way, but I don't know if it counts.

I am beyond excited for 30 Rock next week. The real reason I've been so depressed is that my life is severely lacking in Liz Lemon. As for TVD, Stefan's bad, Damon's good, Elena's...there, Caroline is bubbly, Klaus has become an awful villain, and we've just about reached the point of the season in which they bring Bonnie in to do some magic and fix everything. I miss season one. SIIIIIGH.

Kara. Oh man.

The update before this one really hit me. I've had depression and severe anxiety my entire life, and I know what it's like to suffer through it. Medication and therapy relieve it a little, sure, but the unconditional love of a pet can really make you forget how much your own brain hates you. I'm so sorry this happened, and I'm especially sorry it happened during the time of the year when you're usually at your happiest.

Hopefully your next trip is FLAWLESS in order to make up for it. I mean, constant Toy Story Mania/'Ohana/red velvet cupcakes for the entirety of your stay.

Speaking of red velvet cupcakes, why do they exist and why are they not within my reach at all times. Those pictures are KILLING me. Life is as unfair as it is stupid.

I got a little behind on your TR, but I'm caught up now. I'm so sorry you've not been feeling like yourself lately. I've been there, let me tell you. I also did the same thing you're thinking of doing, in college, I was all of the the place, changing majors every semester, not knowing what I want to do with my life...then I figured, well, I've been through the depression and anxiety, maybe I should be a therapist and help people, so I got my BA in psychology. Just studying psychology and mental illness and how the brain works and everything really makes you understand things a little better, even if you don't end up with a career in it. Just remember, you are 21! You have years to figure out what you want to do, it's ok, there is no hurry, just find out what makes you happy and go with that. :goodvibes

I'm SO sorry about your poor dog. I cannot even imagine how awful that would have been. In 2009 my cat died 2 weeks before we went to Disney, so when we were there I would randomly say to Brandon "I miss Angelica." Actually. I still say that, and it's been over 2 years now.

I'm glad you guys had fun in DHS the next morning, you all really needed it! TSM is amazing, I wish it was possible to ride over and over!! And that cupcake looks fantastic, I think I will try that one next time I'm in Disney, whenever that is going to be!

I'm glad you have another Disney trip coming up to look forward to, and that you might meet some DIS friends while you're there! :yay: Disney planning is seriously such good therapy. Everyone thinks I'm insane for wanting to go back to Disney all the time, but it's seriously sometimes what keeps me sane!

Hi there! I have been reading your report and I have been laughing and crying (not at the same time, yet) over your experiences. You are fabulous! I can't wait to read more about this trip.

I am sorry about your fur kid. They really are wonderful creatures, but they never get to stay with us long enough. e hugs!

I'm sorry to hear that you've dealt with depression/anxiety too. It's no fun.

Thanks! My next trip can't get much worse than this one (knock on wood), so that's good news, I guess. :rotfl:

Life is as unfair as it is stupid. So true, so true.

I really do think studying psychology and/or social work would be good for me. I can channel all of my negatives into creating positives for other people. When life gives you lemons and all that. :upsidedow

Planning for my next Disney trip does help a lot. Because my academic/career future is so uncertain right now, something specific to look forward to is much needed.

I saw you started a new TR! I still need to finish catching up on your other one. I feel like I could spend an entire day commenting on TRs and I'd still be behind. :rotfl:

Hello! I am new to your report; have been reading it for over a week here and there. Not finished yet but just read about your dog and had to comment now. First off I'm sending you hugs. I'm sorry. When I lost my cat it was so hard. It's been a few years now but it's still difficult. You feel like a piece is missing. It's tough. But it helps to remember all the good times you had together. I have finally been able to look at pictures of her and not cry. If you're not there now don't worry you will be soon. It takes time. Your dog wasn't just a pet but a member of your family; a best friend.

Your report has been great! I'm really enjoying reading about your trip! I found your report on Jess's summer report, and am so glad I did. I love your humor! :) I'm looking forward to reading more! :) Thanks for sharing.

I'm so sorry to hear that story about your dog! I complete understand how attached one can be 2 a pet! When I was in 7th grade my cat died after being sick for a year! This was perhaps the sweetest cat to EVER walk the earth and my whole family was super attached 2 him!

HELLO FRIENDS! :wave2:

It's been so long since I last updated this thing. I wish I had a cool excuse, but the truth is that I've had this installment written for two weeks and just haven't posted it. I'm sorry. It's winter. I'm lazy. Sue me.

Just lemme respond to these comments and then I'll post it for your reading pleasure. Thanks for sticking with me, guys!

Hi! Thanks for reading! I'm sorry about your cat, but I'm glad you've been able to find peace. I'm starting to reach that place.

Aw, I'm so sorry about your cat. It's such a shame that pets don't live nearly as long as we do.

JULY 6TH PART TWO: SWEEEEEEEEEET EMOOOOOOOOTIOOOOOON
After sharing a rather intimate moment with a Red Velvet cupcake (which I’m pretty certain is considered illegal in all 50 states), Mom and I went to meet up with Katie and Wade at the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster.

Starring Aerosmith. Presented by Hanes.

I absolutely adore the Sunset Blvd area of MGM/Hollywood Studios/”Where can I buy a Slytherin scarf? Oh, this isn’t Harry Potter World?”

Because I’d rather not have a heart attack in my favorite place on Earth, I don’t do loops and/or vertical drops, so I’ve spent quite a bit of time soaking up its atmosphere over the years. I love it. It’s bright, it’s cheery, it’s lined with palm trees, there’s a turkey leg stand, and it has one of the best music loops in all of WDW.

Also, listening to people do that weird HOLY CRAP I’M FREEFALLING 13 STORIES BUT THIS IS THE MOST FUN I’VE EVER HAD OMG MY MIND IS SO OVERWHELMED SO I’M JUST GOING TO SCREAM AND LAUGH AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO WITH MYSELF thing every time the Tower of Terror opens its windows is pretty enjoyable too.

605.jpg

606.jpg

"In the name of all that rocks..."

607.jpg

608.jpg

I love that there’s a little corner of the world where they play Aerosmith songs all the time other than my bedroom. I remember singing along to “Jaded” as we walked through the courtyard. AND I’M THE ONE THAT JADED YOU.

Do you guys remember when the greatest musical act in the world (if you can’t figure out who that is, you clearly haven’t been reading my TR) performed with Aerosmith at the Super Bowl like 10 years ago? I was in heaven. Britney Spears was there, too. And Nelly. They all sang “Walk This Way” together. And Britney wore a sock on her arm and we were all just like THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER omg.

It was perfect.

Anyway, Mom and I went into the gift shop and, surprisingly, Katie and Wade were already off the ride. We found them waiting in line to buy the on-ride photo. I guess they posed in a special way or something. I don’t know. I can’t think of any other reason that would justify purchasing an over-priced photograph and not just taking a photo of the photo. It’s not like they rode with Steven Tyler himself or anything.

Or maybe they did.

Come to think of it, I never actually saw the picture.

They’ve been holding out on me this whole time!

I bet they’re BFFs with Steven now. They probably hang out all the time and have matching hair feathers and talk about JLo (Do people call her that anymore? Am I offending her by saying that? Would she rather I go with ‘Jenny from the Block’ because that works for me too? I’m certainly not fooled by the rocks that she’s got) behind her back.

Life’s just not fair.

With the mysterious photo purchased, we headed back outside to decide what to do next. I really wanted to go do the drawing lessons before the line got too long. Katie’s not a huge fan, but she was a lot more open to doing this sort of thing since Wade was with us, so off to the Animation building we went.

612.jpg

The Hollywood Studios/MGM/”Which way to the Butterbeer cart? …Oh, you can’t get that here?” arch.

614.jpg

We skipped the movie. I’m a firm believer that, if Disney gives you the option to skip the movie, you should skip the movie. Even they don’t think it’s worth the wait. And they spent money to make the movie. Probably only like $2.75 but hey, someone had to dig around in a cupholder for that 75 cents.

615.jpg

616.jpg

We got to the Animation Academy just in time, as we were the last people let into the waiting area. Thank goodness. I hate waiting with a passion. A very strong, very violent passion.

Which is why it’s weird that I love TV so much.

With TV, all you do is wait. Wait for the commercials to be over. Wait for the next episode. Wait for the next season. Wait for all the answers. Wait for your favorite couple to JUST GET IT TOGETHER ALREADY BECAUSE I CAN’T DEAL WITH THE HEARTBREAK EVERY WEEK!!!

I guess the difference is that, with TV, waiting makes the payoff all the more enjoyable.

Waiting at Disney just makes you sweaty and/or tired. Also sore in the lower back/legs/feet area.

When we were let into the animation room, we took our usual seats at the back. I am not a front-of-the-classroom kinda gal. Never have been, never will be. I need to be able to make snarky remarks without fear of being overheard by the instructor. Snarking is like breathing to me.

Here’s my drawing area:
617.jpg

Our instructor wasted no time. Before our butts were fully on the chairs, we were already starting to draw Sorcerer Mickey. I don’t remember his name, but this guy was an excellent instructor. He was funny and really seemed to know what he was doing. A few minutes in, a little girl had quite the meltdown because she was having a difficult time keeping up, but this guy didn’t let it phase him. He just kept talking over her screams/tears so as not to ruin the experience for the rest of us. It made me wonder how often those guys have to put up with stuff like that. It’s not an easy job, that’s for sure.

Anyway, here’s the finished product:
619.jpg

It’s OK, I guess. There are some problems with the mouth area.

That’s what happens when there aren’t any erasers.

I'm convinced that's intentional on Disney's part so that everyone leaves disappointed with their drawing of a wonky-looking character and spends money on actual pieces of art in the gift shop.

Never change, WDW. Never change.

UP NEXT: Whatever happened to predictability?

You did a great job on Mickey. I've still not made it to the Animation Academy mostly because my kids always want to skip it. Maybe next trip I'll try it by myself.

I feel like I was so far behind.

I'll give you a hug for Riley. I know it feels horrible right now, but it will get better over time. I lost my furbaby Hobbes over a year ago and I still have moments when I just miss her unexpectedly, or think that she's going to come walking down the hallway looking for me. I know what you're going through. Use the next six months and have WDW give you your final catharsis. I think your plan is great.

YAY, I'm excited you updated. Don't even worry about being lazy haha I understand all too well.

Okay so I know you don't ride RNRC, but one day you should walk through the QUEUE because there's a perfect front view of Tower of Terror and all the screaming fun loving people. Then you could just take the chicken exit. (Not calling you a chicken, that's just what I've heard people call it hahaha.)
OMG, I want to ride RNRC with Steven Tyler! Imagine all the noises he would make. Oh man.
Um, I realize that the big drawings on the walls are supposed to look like an artist did them with the extra strokes, but does anyone else notice the big red X on Tinkerbell's face? I'm scared.
I feel like I know exactly what couple you are talking about. HMMM...
OH. BY THE WAY. Joshua Dallas (aka the love of our lives, kinda) is in the movie Thor. I just realized this today. His beauty is somewhat hidden under a fake beard, BUT, it's still him. Sigh, I love him a lot. So, if you ever watch that movie... haha.
Whatever. Your Mickey is cute! I'm sure I'm going to fail miserably whenever I FINALLY go to one of those drawing classes.
I'm really excited about what's next just because there are Full House theme song lyrics involved.

Jesus Mary and Joesph it's about time!

Your trip report is a living thing and you need to nurture and feed it or it dies. Or something, I don't know, but to sum up... you need to update more.

You reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally need to go through the queues and pre shows of RnR and ToT and go out the ~chicken exits~ because you are missing some of the best theming this side of the Mississippi. And I never use that many reallys or say the phrase "this side of the Mississippi" so you can tell how serious I am.

That superbowl performance was basically the highlight of my whole entire life. I have watched it 1000 times and still watch it from time to time. Not to mention that *NSYNC and Britney also performed with Michael Jackson around that time. It was like my entire life was coming together so beautifully. I don't know what went wrong after that but things have not been as cool.

Just so you are clear on the whole J.Lo thing. First of all, you can not forget the period in between and J and Lo, so remember that next time. Also, for awhile Ms. Lopez was insisting that people stop calling her J.Lo, that it was just a thing she did for awhile and it was over, but no one listened to her so she is once again embracing the J.Lo thing (as long as you include the period). WHEW, glad we got that straight.

Whoa, the video they show at the Animation Academy is not *that* lame... it includes Mushu!!!!! Not every movie can be like the gripping and genius film they show after the Maelstrom, Kara.

After sharing a rather intimate moment with a Red Velvet cupcake (which I’m pretty certain is considered illegal in all 50 states)

:rotfl2: It really should be. Seriously. That thing is too good to be real.

I'm glad you appreciate Hollywood Boulevard so much even though you don't do the rides. I LOVE that area. It's just so cute. I could just chill out there all day.

I think if anyone gave me the beginning of any stacey quote, I could finish it off. Some may say skilled, others may say devoted fan.

That would be me.

I just can't believe I never met anyone who actually understood the beauty of Stacey until Kristen and I became close friends. I had this obsession with the Top 7 show for YEARS by myself. That's SUCH a tragedy.

Wow, I could talk about Stacey all day.

ANYWHO...

Yay for the drawing class! Sorcerer Mickey is such a fun one! I never got to draw that!! I think your Mickey is really cute! :goodvibes

Thank you for updating I appreciate it!!! I needed a little Disney-sigh-of-relief in the midst of all of this college craziness.

You did a great job on Mickey. I've still not made it to the Animation Academy mostly because my kids always want to skip it. Maybe next trip I'll try it by myself.
Thanks! You should definitely check out the Animation Academy. It's well worth it.

Thanks! I'm starting to come out of my depression. I've been feeling more positive lately than I have in months, so that's good. I'm sorry about your furbaby. It's such a painful experience.

Oh, I AM a chicken, though, so it's appropriate.

HAHAHAHAH I didn't notice the X. Poor Tink!

I have not seen Thor because I've never really been into all the superhero movies, but I'm planning to see The Avengers whenever it comes out because part of it was filmed in Cleveland and I'm all HOMETOWN PRIDE, so I figured I should watch all of the relevant superhero movies before I see it for context and, from what I understand, Thor is one of those movies (HOLY RUN ON SENTENCE!). The eye candy is now added incentive. :lovestruc

So, basically, this TR is our love fern and I've just pulled a Matthew McConaughey and let it die. I am so sorry.

See, I'm hesitant to just walk through the queues because I'm totally the type of person who would get peer pressured into riding. I'm weak, Lia. It's much safer out on a bench.

Thank you for the correction on the J.Lo punctuation. I would hate to offend Ms. Lopez.

I love my fellow Stacey worshipers. :worship:

I was thinking about how if we're ever all in Disney at the same time (*cough*y'allneedtofigureoutawaytocomewithmeinjuly*cough*) it'll be a Stacey-induced metaphorical bloodbath as we all rush to be the first to quote her. It will be a blast. :thumbsup2
