I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

Yes, we did just do a road trip to Disney -- hence the "almost" part of my reply. LOL!

You were able to see some classic Southern sights -- decrepit buildings with washers on the porch, factories, flea markets, fireworks and gun stores -- we got it all down here. :rotfl2:

Yeay for arriving at the soccer fields!!!

Washers on the porches? OMG. I wish I had seen that! Wait, let me go back and look at the one picture again. Maybe the house in Seiverville DID have a washer on the porch.

What's up with all the fireworks and gun stores and flea markets??????? Those were the only signs I saw for awhile in Tenn. And then the pandora bracelet sign. :confused3 Too weird!

That soccer complex was beautiful. Much nicer than anything we have up north.

I have seen the "male" trucks before but never knew the bell meant that the truck was considered "female". Well you learn something everyday! :rotfl2:

I believe there is a washer on that porch. And yes I bet you someone does actually live in that house (especially after watching some of these television shows that show people who have 100's of animals, garbage, etc.).

Great pictures - once again!!

We do that on every road trip - check the cell phone for the time zone change. Most of our trips do cross the time zone (usually central to eastern and back), so we generally know where the changes are and anticipate them. Nothing like staring at a cell phone for 10 minutes waiting for the time to change. Easily amused, we are!

Lovely and interesting road trip pictures. Yes I would love to see some Nashville pictures.

I didn't know that either. I have to agree with you - you do learn something everyday! :rotfl:

:rotfl: I went back and looked at that house and I think you're right, there is some type of appliance on the porch! :rotfl2:

We do the cell phone time change check on all of our road trips! Pretty much all of them cross a time zone! It's gotten to the point where we know where to expect it and stare at the phone for 10 minutes! Easily amused, we are!

OK - I am glad that I am not the only one who is easy amused by cell phone time changes!!!!!!! I think stuff like that is pretty cool!

Sheree -

I feel so privileged that you posted twice!!!!!! See what happens when you mind is on your impending Disney trip!!!!!! LOL!

Lovely and interesting road trip pictures. Yes I would love to see some Nashville pictures.

After we finished watching this.....

We checked into our hotel, a country inn and suites. It was nothing to take pictures of. It was clean and the owners were fine, but it was just another nondescript hotel. It didn't have a pool, but one of the moms had the foresight to get us a group discount to a water park......

IMG_5491.jpg

That's all the pictures I took because, as we know, a water park is wet and wet and Mary Ellen's camera do not mix. The usual price for this place was $32. Our group discount was $18.50. I guess it was worth it to get wet because it was way too crowded to do much more than that. It was blazing hot (close to 100 degrees), so we spent a lot of time in the overcrowded pool. There weren't many slides, but there was a decent lazy river and for the men, the added attraction of having a life guard with her butt cheek hanging out of her bathing suit. :rolleyes1

Best of all, it was a group bonding experience for the boys.

For dinner Brian decided to get in one of his "not - so - nice" moods. He refused to go out to dinner with us (long story) and we decided just to leave him. He hooked up with some other teammates later while Denny, Nick, and I went to this place called "Jim & Nick's". This place was da bomb. I had a catfish sandwich that was amazing! The boys had brisket. The sides were all home made, really fresh, and tasty. I wish they would open one of these chains in Delaware because I would be a frequent customer.

Friday July 9th........

We went to the fields for more of this.......

IMG_5549.jpg

It was so hot they pulled the boys off the field for water breaks......

At half time I started getting bored and started taking pictures of........

After the game we went to a chik-fil - a for lunch. There was a policeman directing traffic in and out of the parking lot. Now that's a first. Brian asked her why she was directing traffic and she said its because they were the last chik-fil-a heading west and that large amounts of traffic came off the interstate every Friday and Saturday. go figure.....

IMG_5701.jpg

We went back to the room to drop Brian off. He had to go to a team function that evening for dinner. We didn't really want to go. I'm sure none of the parents really wanted to go, but since we didn't need to we decided to head to Nashville.

The Nashville skyline....

IMG_5708.jpg

The Grand Old Opry was closed because of a recent flood, so we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. This is he sidewalk leading to the building....

Once inside we selected the self guided tour. We were greeted with some cool mosaics.....

IMG_5722.jpg

In the actual exhibit we were greeted by some cool, old guitars......

I am not up on all my old country artists, but I can tell you that they had one thing in common - they almost all had Martin guitars.

IMG_5770.jpg

I have a Martin guitar myself, so this was pretty cool to me.

I thought I took a picture of Elvis's cadilac and his gold piano, but I guess I didn't.

Anyway - I have plenty more pics but I am going to cut out now and be back with more Nashville stuff soon!

We don't have Chi-fil-a in Michigan but now I'm wondering what we're missing if they need to direct traffic at the parking lot!? :confused3

you took pictures of umbrellas but not one picture of this!?!?!

Funny thing was, I thought about you when I saw this. Denny was completely oblivious as we floated past her. I said, "Did you see that girl's butt cheek?" and he said, "What?". I remember thinking, "Drat, how can I get a picture of this". :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:Well, I guess that proves her point. They must have a sign on the highway that says Last Chik-fil-a forever. As packed as that parking lot was, that line moved! That place rocked.

So since you have never had chik-fil-a you may need to rent a car on one of your Florida trips. There is one conveniently located on the way to Disney world. Their chicken sandwiches are really good.

Those pictures of all the umbrellas are really neat!!!

Who knew the last Chick-Fil-A before heading west would be such a draw! :confused3

We had a new Chick-Fil-A open not far from us last year and they had officers out directing traffic for at least the first week, it was crazy how busy that place was! It still has times of being very busy, but they know how to handle a crowd well, you never have to wait very long.

I'm enjoying your Tennessee trip, keep it comin'! :thumbsup2

Loving the Nashville pictures. I'm a huge country music fan and one of these days I am determined to get to Nashville to go to the Hall of Fame and the Opry.

thanks! By Saturday I resorted to taking pictures of people's "what not to wear" outfits!

Who knew the last Chick-Fil-A before heading west would be such a draw! :confused3

Seriously, Who Knew?????? On top of that there about a gazillion other places to eat, but this was the one requring a full time traffic cop!

Really? So that's a common thing? Chik-fil-a must have a darn good reputation. We have one in our area and they supply sandwiches to our soccer games. Those sandwiches fly out the door.

I will post again soon with the Tenn pictures. I got so tired last night I had to quit before I felt done.

Really....you should have thought about your readership Mary Ellen!

Next time - Water Proof Camera!!!!! :rotfl:

Nashville was so darn cool. Just being around all that music was invigorating. I have only become a country fan recently, but I loved touring the museum. It was really beautiful. Of course, I would kill to see someone at the Opry or the Reiyman (sp?) Auditorium. We needed MORE time.

Love your road trip pics to TN - I'm in VA and I drive 81 up and down when I go visit the parents in Massachusetts:)

And we love our Chick fil a down here, the best chicken sandwiches - we sell them in the concession stands during Friday night football games and they fly out of there.

Have a good trip to the beach (very envious of that!)

People hang things on their truck to indicate whether the truck is male or female??? Really? :confused3

Oh well, I'm sure somewhere someone is hearing that people spend hours on the internet talking to "strangers" about Disney and is also saying, "really???"

Looks like OBX is getting some storms. Hope they blow past before your arrival! :goodvibes
