I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

I didn't know "impossible" was in the GPS vocabulary. :lmao:

You gotta really mess with your gps to get it to say "impossible". Apparently we accomplished that!

I
Sorry your DVC experience wasn't great. I actually liked my guide very much but since I knew I wanted BCV decided resale was better. I did buy from Timeshare Store and it was fine but somewhat underwhelming. As others said, I basically just stalked the updates and as soon as a 100 pt contract came out in the use year I wanted I jumped. First try Disney bought it back and then it was probably another ~8 months before another one came around and went through. Patience is key, unfortunately.

Well - you really were patient to wait 8 months for that contract. I do have a lot of patience because I also want to spend some of that money on a kitchen remodel. Knowing that I have that big expense hanging over my head has definitely made me less impulsive.

Hope you have a great time in the Outer Banks!! :)

Thanks!

Impossible was just too funny!! :rotfl2: On your trip south, when we're going that way, I always love seeing the Mormon Temple- at night it looks almost surreal....we call it OZ...:goodvibes

It DOES look like Oz. I really didn't know what it was, so thanks for the info. I know I couldn't stop staring at it...so impressive.

QUOTE=brookelizabeth;37526737]I like your flower!! Very pretty.

It was fun to take a drive with you, the toll way shot reminds me of the many views we had driving from Chicago to Minnesota a few times a year.[/QUOTE]

I'm glad you like the flower. I really love it and want 4 more!

I guess all busy road look pretty similar, huh? Anyway - there is lots more road trip to come!

Your flower is gorgeous. And my favorite picture of your "road trip": the one that says Starbucks. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm glad you like the flower. Ah - Starbucks - I was just watching a documentary on its humble origins. Really interesting.

You've been a very busy updater while I was gone, Mary Ellen!

Brian should not be a DVC guide if he is going to act like that! I am shocked! I had to laugh about Chuck and his enjoyment of dealing with customer service. LOL!

Welcome back Jackie! My next stop was going to be your TR to see if I made it on the 9th or 10th page....:rotfl:. I hope you had a great trip.

Brian was just super blah. I probably made him sound worse than he really is. I feel bad because no Dis'er is going to want to tour with Brian.

And Chuck - the afternoon I overheard him on the phone with Verizon I just about fell out. We are on vacation and he was renegotiating his contract. Oh brother.

Great fire shots! Charles wanted to see LMA! but the first showing on Thursday was at 1:30 -- that was during his naptime. ;)

Ah, Bo. (Not saying anything else about him right now.)

Oh No - NOT nap time! I can't wait to read this TR.

Yo
Beautiful photos from the Poly, my stomach is growling now over the thought of shrimp and Dole Whips, hurray for four rides in an hour, and I am dying lauging over the GPS saying, "Impossible."

Love the pictures of you holding the balloons!

Shrimp and dole whips. Yum. I already ate lunch, but now my stomach is growling.

The Impossible comment was sooooo funny. Glad you like the ballon picture.

The Susquehanna river runs right through my town.....I will send you a message in a bottle the next time you are going north :rotfl2:

Tracy

:rotfl2: I had no idea the Susquehanna started in NY state. I really, honestly thought it started in PA up north. I just learned something today.

Thanks for sharing those pictures of your drive! I keep saying to Jasmine, one of these years I need to take all 5 weeks of my holidays together so we can drive....I would love to see the countryside, and we both love driving!

You're welcome. I have many more pictures to show you.

I don't love driving, but I do enjoy seeing the country side. This was a fun road trip.

I really should be packing for the OBX trip, but I can't seem to get motivated. I have to go to state fair tonight to march and it is so blazing hot out. So I am basically lying around all afternoon doing nothing until I have to venture out of the AC. Must .....Get......Motivated.

OK - here goes - I am going to post some more Tennessee Road Trip Pics.......

Front Royal....the Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley......

And 10 miles closer......

IMG_5110.jpg

Although I don't have pictures to prove it, we were finally on Rt 81 which is the major north/south highway which coasts down the western border of Viriginia. I finally felt like we were on a roadtrip because we were entering a part of the country that I had never seen up close before.

Roanoke was only 150 miles away and it was just about time for our first break....

IMG_5113.jpg

IMG_5114.jpg

IMG_5116.jpg

Now that we were in a much less residential area, I was hoping to see some interesting sights to photograph. I found Sonny's cab......

IMG_5117.jpg

But I wanted something more and it didn't take me very long to find this......

IMG_5121.jpg

In case you need a closer look to verify that it really his a barber's chair....here you go......

IMG_5120.jpg

I drove for the next hour or so. I forget why we stopped so soon again, but I needed to make our hotel reservation for the evening. By now it was clear that we would make it well past Roanoke and even past Bristol, TN. We decided to keep right on driving until well got to Seiverville, TN which is right outside of the Smokey's.

Back to picture taking with Roanoke on the horizon......

IMG_5125.jpg

I had no idea there was a national D- Day memorial in Virgnia, did you?

IMG_5132.jpg

And a sign for the Blue Ridge Parkway......

IMG_5133.jpg

Bye Roanoke. See you on the return trip.....

IMG_5135.jpg

Denny said, "Look what's under that truck"

IMG_5139.jpg

"A Cow Bell"

Exit for virginia tech .....

IMG_5148.jpg

Still over 100 miles to Bristol, TN

IMG_5152.jpg

I don't know if you can read this, but I remember thinking that I sure hope no one needs a bio break anytime soon.

The sun was starting to get low in the sky, so I tried to catch a bit of the sunset......

IMG_5147.jpg

At some point when all of Virgnia was starting to look the same I told Denny that if he wanted me to drive anymore it had to be before it started to get dark. So I finally took over driving when we were about 80 or so miles from Bristol. We managed to make it to Bristol by 9pm and we finally got to Seiverville, TN between 1030 and 11pm.

Next up ......Finishing the road trip to Murfreesboro, TN.

What gorgeous road trip pictures!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Great road sign pictures! I recognize all of them down through D.C., but it's been a while (pre-kids, so at least 16 years) since I've been down towards Bristol.

/
ok, I just have to ask....how fast (or CRAZY) do you have to drive to hear the COW BELLring under your vehicle?? Just something one should know, in case I ever get that question on JEOPARDY......:lmao:

Amaziing what you can see on a road trip? A cowbell and a barber chair all in one trip. :thumbsup2

The scenery is beautiful!

I laughed out loud at the cow bell!!! I would of had to roll down my window to see if I could hear it clanging...

Cow bells, Sonny's cab, and the barber's chair have me laughing so hard!!! :lmao:

The mountains are so pretty in that part of the country! It "almost" makes me want to take a road trip!

The cow bell means that the truck is female! Be glad that you didn't see a male truck! What you think would be hanging there is really just that!
I love Virginia, my aunt used to live outside of Front Royal.
Gatlinburg is like a second home to us, have been there more times than I can count.

I really really love that hay bale picture.....

thanks!

You certainly see all kinds of things travelling down a highway don't ya:lmao:

You sure do. Unfortunately I missed taking a picture of the bus which had a small sign in the back that said "Guatemala Tour Bus" and hanging off the back were 5 bicycles. The bus looked like it was built in 1950.

What gorgeous road trip pictures!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Thanks and you're welcome!

Isn't it funny how we categorize things as pre-kids and post-kids. I have never been to Tennessee before, so this was a pretty cool trip for me.

ok, I just have to ask....how fast (or CRAZY) do you have to drive to hear the COW BELLring under your vehicle?? Just something one should know, in case I ever get that question on JEOPARDY......:lmao:

:rotfl2: I have NO IDEA! lol!

Great pictures! So glad you had a beautiful day to photograph and not rain! :thumbsup2

That ride would have S%@KED if it had rained. OMG - perish the thought!

Fun pictures! Just checking but Denny is driving while you're taking these pictures, right?

Ya never know, do ya????? Yes - Denny was driving. We drove about 530 the first day. I probably drove only 160 of that. Yeah - I'm a light weight.

Amaziing what you can see on a road trip? A cowbell and a barber chair all in one trip. :thumbsup2

My favorite is the barber chair! What the heck are they doing with that? It looks really old.

The scenery is beautiful!

I laughed out loud at the cow bell!!! I would of had to roll down my window to see if I could hear it clanging...

Haha - that would be funny, but honestly, that bell did not look like it was even moving. What the heck was its purpose?

Cow bells, Sonny's cab, and the barber's chair have me laughing so hard!!! :lmao:

The mountains are so pretty in that part of the country! It "almost" makes me want to take a road trip!

Oh how I wish I had a picture of the guatemala tour bus! That was a sight.

It was a really pretty ride. Tons of trucks, but a beautiful ride.

Didn't you just go on a road trip to Disney????? ;)

The cow bell means that the truck is female! Be glad that you didn't see a male truck! What you think would be hanging there is really just that!
:rotfl2: Oh My.... what a sight that would be!

I love Virginia, my aunt used to live outside of Front Royal.
Gatlinburg is like a second home to us, have been there more times than I can count.

That's such a pretty area. Gaitlinburg was pretty cool. We stopped there on the way home, but it was soooooooooo crowded. Bumper to bumper. I bet you know all the back roads.

Thursday July 8th.....

We woke up in Seiverville, TN. Just in case you think I'm pulling your leg, here's a picture of the building next to the hotel:

IMG_5226.jpg

Do you think anybody lives here?

IMG_5227.jpg

Tennessee has a lot of Visitor Centers:

IMG_5230.jpg

Nicholas was dying to go into this store. It was open 24 hours:

We weren't far from Knoxville:

IMG_5242.jpg

Woot! Our first sign for Nashville:

IMG_5245.jpg

Nicholas wanted to stop here too. Firearms Nicholas, Not Fireworks:

Flea World:

IMG_5258.jpg

It took me awhile to realize they were referring to a flea market, not the bugs that bite.

IMG_5265.jpg

IMG_5266.jpg

Crossing into Central Time. This was my first time entering another time zone by car (only done it flying). It is so cool to watch my cell phone change. After being in the car for such a long time I was becoming easily amused.

IMG_5267.jpg

Only 120 miles to Nashville.....

IMG_5270.jpg

An advertisement for Pandora out in the middle of nowhere.

IMG_5272.jpg

And then finally after some 777 miles and 13 hours of driving- Murfreesboro, TN:

IMG_5273.jpg

I gotta tell you, by now Denny was starting to get mighty irritable because he thought we were going to be late for the game. It took us a solid 3 hours to get here, but I knew we would be right on time. So I ignored him and took some more pictures.

IMG_5278.jpg

IMG_5281.jpg

The, finally, signs of soccer life.....

IMG_5282.jpg

The complex.....

IMG_5283.jpg

Game On.....

IMG_5320.jpg

Next.....How about a tour of Nashville?

Where's Shocker when you need him??? :lmao:

Did you really need, or just want, a picture of that?

Did I really write that? I was sort of nodding out during part of that update. I wonder if I typed it then? :lmao: BTW - WHERE ARE YOU SHOCKER???????I miss you!
:thumbsup2

Wigd has kept me so busy that I rarely have time to Dis!

The cow bell means that the truck is female! Be glad that you didn't see a male truck! What you think would be hanging there is really just that!

No way can I pass up on this....

No way can I pass up on this....

dodgeballs.jpg

Oh that is funny! :rotfl2: So glad I checked in this morning before I went to work. I would have been dying all day without any pictures!

Welcome back Shocker! :worship:

Yes, we did just do a road trip to Disney -- hence the "almost" part of my reply. LOL!

You were able to see some classic Southern sights -- decrepit buildings with washers on the porch, factories, flea markets, fireworks and gun stores -- we got it all down here. :rotfl2:

Yeay for arriving at the soccer fields!!!
