I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

I really didn't mean to post twice. The reply window went all wacky on me and said there was a fatal error, so I just did it again. But if you'd prefer to think that I was so deep in my pre - trip craziness and love this TR so much that I posted twice, fine by me!;)

Love the poster of Johnny Cash at the Minneapolis Auditorium! It must have been a long time ago, because there is no longer any such auditorium!

We love Chik-Fil-A! We don't have any here, but DH always stops at least once when we're in the south. We've gotten mad on road trips when we pass one on a Sunday and they're closed!

So since you have never had chik-fil-a you may need to rent a car on one of your Florida trips. There is one conveniently located on the way to Disney world. Their chicken sandwiches are really good.

There is a Chick-Fil-A in the MCO airport! I have yet to try it, but it's on my "Must Do" list this trip! I've heard so many good things about it over and over again. And the fact that they need someone directing traffic is just crazy! They aren't anywhere to be found up north.

I had NO idea people put things on their trucks to signify if they were male or female. I didn't realize a truck could be male or female...!

The soccer facility looks really nice! The boys got to play in luxury!

For all those people wanting to eat Chick fil a don't forget that they are always closed on Sundays.

I'm in... I have been missing Disney terribly and since we aren't going again until next December I have to live vicariously through all the trip reports. You are off to a great start.

So sorry to hear you were sick before your trip. Ugh! That doesn't sound like fun at all!

Love your pictures. I'm only a few pages in... hopefully I can catch up. :)

We don't have Chi-fil-a in Michigan but now I'm wondering what we're missing if they need to direct traffic at the parking lot!? :confused3

You absolutely have to eat there when you land at MCO! We love Chick-Fil-A, and then two years ago they opened one 1/2 mile from our house. Heaven!!!

thanks! By Saturday I resorted to taking pictures of people's "what not to wear" outfits!

Cool; I'd love to see some of those pics! :rotfl2:

Of course, I would kill to see someone at the Opry or the Reiyman (sp?) Auditorium.

When I was 7, we went to Nashville on vacation. We went to Opry Land (gone now) and saw a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. I remember it clearly because I was bored out of my mind! :lmao:

Loved the umbrella picture and the soccer pics were way cool!!!

Leave it to Shocker...to shock ya LOL!!!

Love your road trip pics to TN - I'm in VA and I drive 81 up and down when I go visit the parents in Massachusetts:)
It's a very pretty route. Tons of trucks, but still a nice highway.

And we love our Chick fil a down here, the best chicken sandwiches - we sell them in the concession stands during Friday night football games and they fly out of there.

We do that with soccer games. Sometimes we call for a second order cause they go so fast. They are really yummy!

Have a good trip to the beach (very envious of that!)

Thanks!

People hang things on their truck to indicate whether the truck is male or female??? Really? :confused3

I didn't know that either....Until I posted that cow bell picture. Interesting. :confused3

Oh well, I'm sure somewhere someone is hearing that people spend hours on the internet talking to "strangers" about Disney and is also saying, "really???"

Probably. :rotfl2:

Looks like OBX is getting some storms. Hope they blow past before your arrival! :goodvibes

I hope so, too. I don't mind an occasional storm, but I certainly don't want days of rain. That would be horrible.

:rotfl2: What????? You mean you didn't post twice because you love this TR so much! :rotfl2: I get that fatal error message sometimes, too. But the post always works, so I don't quite understand what was so fatal about it?

Love the poster of Johnny Cash at the Minneapolis Auditorium! It must have been a long time ago, because there is no longer any such auditorium!

I found this great Johnny Cash T-shirt with him giving the finger (it was superimposed, but looked so perfect). Obviously, I can't post it here, but it was really funny. I got a good chuckle out of that. I don't usually gravitate to the vulgar, but this was more funny than anything else.

We love Chik-Fil-A! We don't have any here, but DH always stops at least once when we're in the south. We've gotten mad on road trips when we pass one on a Sunday and they're closed!

Honor the Sabbath! Obviously they make enough money to do that!

You must try chik-fil-a. You will really like it! We just got them in Delaware a couple years ago. I haven't seen any north of here, but I'm sure they are coming.

I had NO idea people put things on their trucks to signify if they were male or female. I didn't realize a truck could be male or female...!

I didn't know that either - seems like a lot of trouble to go under the truck to hang bells or balls! whatev!

The soccer facility looks really nice! The boys got to play in luxury!

That was, without a doubt, the nicest soccer facility I have been too. The stadium field was lovely and all the fields had this nice, short bermuda grass. No turf - just beautiful grass fields. PLUS - two buildings with indoor bathrooms. That IS luxury!

So was it really hot in Seiverville, too, or just Nashville? Have i mentioned lately that I am soooooooooooooo happy I'm going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving instead of Summer vacation??? :thumbsup2 Are you ready for your upcoming trip? I SURE AM ready for mine! :yay: :dance3:

Chic fil A is family owned and operated by a Christian family headed by Truett Cathy. (the reason they are closed on sundays)
they are opening close to a 100 new stores in the next 10 years.
look for yummy chicken breast sammies coming your way soon.......;)

wonderful on the road pics. I love road trips.
Looking forward to more popcorn::

Do you know where they are opening the stores? NYC, please???!?! :hyper: :teeth:

Oh I  nashville. So fun seeing your pics.

The soccer pics though....I am cracking up at your cloud shots and the umbrellas. Talk about deja vu!

That water park sounds like the one here, just not even worth going with those kinds of crowds. BLEH. Eye candy or not. Too bad it wasn't equal, there should have been eye candy for the women as well.

Just sayin....

Sorry for the delay in getting these responses out. I logged on last night, but got so distracted by Wigd's kitchen counter top remodel that I spent the next 1 1/2 hrs researching it!

For all those people wanting to eat Chick fil a don't forget that they are always closed on Sundays.

Good point! this is weird - I feel like I responded to this yesterday, but I can't find the post! :confused3

I'm in... I have been missing Disney terribly and since we aren't going again until next December I have to live vicariously through all the trip reports. You are off to a great start.

:welcome: Raider! I am glad you are enjoying the TR. The TR's really help fill the void between trips. Plus I find that TR's help me decide what I want to add to my trip itinerary!

So sorry to hear you were sick before your trip. Ugh! That doesn't sound like fun at all!

Love your pictures. I'm only a few pages in... hopefully I can catch up. :)

thanks and Thanks! Fortunately I have been healthy since my relapse in Florida. I think I owe it all to industrial strength probiotics. They really did the trick! :thumbsup2

Glad you like the pics.

I totally second this!!!!!!!

Coming Up!

When I was 7, we went to Nashville on vacation. We went to Opry Land (gone now) and saw a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. I remember it clearly because I was bored out of my mind! :lmao:

Oh Now! :rotfl: Well, I guess at that age the Grand Old OPry would be a bit boring! :rotfl:

Loved the umbrella picture and the soccer pics were way cool!!!

Thanks! It was fun to add my twist on the soccer game sights!

Leave it to Shocker...to shock ya LOL!!!

That's why we love him and his crazy photos are always welcome! popcorn::

The humidity dropped over the weekend, so it was definitely more tolerable in both places. I am sure the temps in the actual smokies are much better.

And, YES, you did mention that you are much happier to be going during Thanksgiving and judging by the crowds, I don't blame you one bit!

Hey Kim -

Thanks for the skinny on Chik-fil-a. Do you know how many stores they already have opened. I was wrong, there are 3 in Delaware, not 2.

Glad you like the pics. I love road trips too. I plan to post more this evening!

Do you know where they are opening the stores? NYC, please???!?! :hyper: :teeth:

OMG Brooke. I promise if you invite me up to visit I will bring you chik-fil-a and keep them warm in the cooler!!!!!!

Oh I  nashville. So fun seeing your pics.

The soccer pics though....I am cracking up at your cloud shots and the umbrellas. Talk about deja vu!

Nashville was so super cool. I have so many more pictures to post and promise to post more tonight.

Yes - I will admit - I do get distracted towards the end of soccer games, particularily when its 100 degrees outside!!!!!

That water park sounds like the one here, just not even worth going with those kinds of crowds. BLEH. Eye candy or not. Too bad it wasn't equal, there should have been eye candy for the women as well.

Just sayin....

You are right about the lack of eye candy for girls!!!!! The water park definitely wasn't worth the $, but the hotel we were staying at had no pool so I was happy to get a few hours of pool time. When the day camps went home things got a little less congested. And then, of course, there was always the pool bar. :rolleyes1 They need one of those at TL or BB. :rolleyes1

exactly. It of course depends on the state of the game but....

no pool bar at TL or BB? no adult drinks? that's just WRONG!

OMG Brooke. I promise if you invite me up to visit I will bring you chik-fil-a and keep them warm in the cooler!!!!!!

You are invited ANY time. We love visitors!!

I have Chik-Fil-A on the agenda for the Orlando airport in September.

I saw your questions about the countertop on Wigd's report - sounds like it might be a great solution! I look forward to her pictures!

You laugh, but I think this countertop stuff is really cool! I am trying to get Denny on board with it. He is resisting and wants to go the traditional counter top route. But If I am going to spend all the $ then I wanted to make major changes to the kitchen. And personally, I would rather do the kitchen changes cheaper and have more $ for DVC. Priorities!

exactly. It of course depends on the state of the game but....

I think we were winning that game! We were up by 2 goals, so distraction was inevitable! :rolleyes1

:

Probably a safety thing!

Well, since we are missing each other in September by just a few days we should definitely do a NY DISmeet! :thumbsup2 I would love to meet Henry in person. He is just so stinkin cute! Especially in your latest update. OMG - one cute picture after another,

I think its the perfect food to kick off your trip!

I can't wait either. I am really fascinated by this!

Mary Ellen, are you coming to the DC DIS meet? Brook is thinking about coming, and you could meet Henry then... :rolleyes1

Tomorrow We Leave for the OBX.:thumbsup2 I am pretty excited about this. It's five times more packing than a Disney trip because we had a planning meeting and divided up the food. I think I have made about 5 different food and liquor runs over the last week (Yeah - I can DRINK!!!!!!) I have all the non-perishables packed in my car. All the perishables will go into coolers at the a$$ crack of dawn tomorrow. My clothes are packed, but true to form, none of the boys are packed yet. We are driving two cars. Just makes a lot more sense.

So here's a funny story. I like my car to be clean when I am driving on vacation. Why? I have no idea, because the car will look like crap when I get home. So I took my car to the car wash and get in there and the whole thing stops - with soap ALL over the car. I just sat there. I didn't know what to do. I was certain if I got out the whole contraption would start moving again. I considered driving out, but then I would have to get back in line and I'm not sure if that would mess the whole thing up. So I yell to the guy behind me, and miraculously he hears me. He went to get the attendant and they had me pull out and get back in line anyway. Way to lose another 10 minutes of my life!

So here's the deal. We have wifi at our house, but I doubt I will really do a full update at the OBX. So I am going to leave you with a few teaser pictures of our last Disney day. I posted them on Cynthia's TR because she may leave for WL before I get back. So without further adieu I want to show you a few very special pics taken from the WL (that's right - FROM the WL)......Enjoy......

So where exactly was I when I took these fabulous pictures???????

Now back to Tennessee.

When I left off last I was still touring the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Look at this amazing dress worn by Carrie Underwood. The waist on this thing was SO tiny. How did she fit in there????? Did she really get the skinny after those trainers and nutritionists got a hold of her after American Idol.

IMG_5756.jpg

Another cool guitar.....

IMG_5766.jpg

This was the inlay in Emmelou Harris' guitar (did I spell that right?)

IMG_5771.jpg

This was worn by Alison Krauss when she accepted some music award. I love Alison Krauss. She has a really great voice. Its so different and so perfect! So gentle and warm.

IMG_5773.jpg

I think this was Brad Paisley's guitar.....

IMG_5774.jpg

This was Taylor swift's guitar. Go figure - its a Taylor guitar! What a nice gift from the Taylor guitar company. What's ironic to me is that some of the old timers had the most beat up, old guitars and they could really play. Look what Taylor Swift gets and she's already given it away.

IMG_5776.jpg

This was another Carrie Underwood dress......

IMG_5778.jpg

And a Taylor Swift dress.......

IMG_5775.jpg

After we toured all the donated exhibits we were greeted by......

IMG_5783.jpg

The next room had all the plaques from the people who had made it into the hall of fame.....

IMG_5786.jpg

But I really enjoyed looking at the floor.....

IMG_5784.jpg

And this was the ceiling......

IMG_5785.jpg

The Outside of the building.....

IMG_5792.jpg

Next stop was the gift shop.....

IMG_5790.jpg

IMG_5787.jpg

IMG_5788.jpg

IMG_5789.jpg

After we left the Country Music Hall of Fame we asked directions to the Broadway section of Nashville. This is the section of town where all the bars and restaurants are. There was so much to see, so let's start with this.....

One more picture of the Hall of Fame.....

IMG_5820.jpg

IMG_5822.jpg

As we approached the water front I started to take some pictures when this gentlemen said to me, " Wow. What are you doing? Aren't you here to take pictures of me?"

"Well, yes sir, I am".....and guess what...since you asked so nicely, I will do you the honor of posting your picture on the internet.....

IMG_5825.jpg

I was really trying to get a picture of this.....

IMG_5826.jpg

But, again, I was distracted by this........

IMG_5829.jpg

Are they a singing group? Triplets? Girls who need an emergency visit from Stacy and Clinton?????

IMG_5830.jpg

When I return....More Nashille pics (because there is so much more to see)!

IMG_5836.jpg

IMG_5878.jpg

My camera focused on the tree instead of the girls (which is probably good because the one on the left looks a little angry)
