.....Jen and I will be getting up early and planning our departure from POFQ. I know I will be sorry to leave, but we will be on to bigger and better things. Of course, I am definitely trying the beignets before we go and I still have no idea what a hurricane is. It doesn't sound like a morning drink.
Cynthia would be proud to know that I already purchased some real Starbucks coffee for the trip. Yeah me!
I would also really like to go running in the morning which means I will have to get up extra early. But POR and POFQ are two of my favorite resorts to run through and running there reminds me of my very first onsite Disney trip. I ran everyday that trip. No lie - something like 7 days straight. I loved, loved, loved the solitude of running around POR. The landscaping was gorgeous and the peacefulness was breathtaking.
Ahhhhh....memories.
So what's in store for today? Well, I hope Jen chimes in here because I am assuming that we will be up early, pack up, have breakfast, check our luggage to get transferred to BLT, and take the bus over to MK. From there I am assuming we will monorail or walk it over to BLT to check-in. Since we are getting the dining plan I figure we want to get that taken care of early.
Then we are off to.....WHERE JEN???? I figure if we are all checked in before the opening ceremony at MK we will probably head over there. I know we BOTH really want to see the opening ceremony. I haven't seen it for quite awhile. Again, it will bring back memories from when my kids where younger and when they would still get up and get to a park before the crack of noon.
I remember the second time I took them to the opening ceremony - I got soooooooo choked up. Tears just filled my eyes and fogged up my sunglasses. I got myself under control just in time to walk down mainstreet only to get all choked up again seeing the castle. At the time it was hard to believe that anything could have such a profound effect on me. I thought I had to be the only crazy fool in the crowd. But I have since learned that many of you have experienced the same emotions that I did. Which makes me think we are all a bunch of saps!

Kidding - I think we are all lucky because we have experienced firsthand the magic that Walt was inspired to create!
Now, on the other hand, if checking in and luggage transfers and all that has made us late for the opening ceremonies then perhaps we should save it for another day and hit another park. I am good with whatever park we go to. I usually save HS for later in my trips because I like to work my way up to ToT and RnR. I know Jen really wants to ride TSM so I KNOW we want to get to HS early for that. I am cool if we go to AK or Epcot, although we have Epcot planned for Tuesday morning since we have a LeCellier ADR that day.
I sort of like the fact that we are winging it. As long as we get to each park in the morning, I am all good!
Our evening plans are a little more concrete. We both have decided that we are nicer people when we take afternoon breaks, so that's the plan. I will probably want to chill by the pool for an hour or so. I am not really good at naps at the beginning of my trip. But sitting by the pool is totally relaxing for me and can have the same effect as a perfectly timed nap.
Dinner is the Wave at 6:15. Jen has never been there. I have actually been there twice - once in June of 09 and once during my May trip. I enjoyed it a tad more during the first trip. I had steak the first time and fish the second. I'm sure it will be a nice meal and its a nice atmosphere.
After dinner we are hoping to hit the TOTW lounge. I made plans to meet LL and Marc after dinner and take them up there with us. LL and Marc are there now - at Disney I mean. I hope they aren't too burnt out a week from now. I have heard mixed reviews on whether a non DVC BLT person can go up there with us. But we are going for it. Of course, if for some reason we can't get them up there I would rather go into MK and meet them. LL is like my hero Dis'er. She is a posting fiend and I have been following her PTR/TR for years. She is legend and it would be so cool to finally meet her in person. Plus, her pictures have really inspired me to get creative with the camera. Her montage of light fixtures are second to none. Keep your fingers crossed it all works out!
Well, that's it for now. Up Next will be Day 3.
Oh - and I worked like crazy on my OBX shutterfly books today. I am making one for each family on the trip. I am very excited because they are turning out great!
