. . . that the cost of a double espresso at Scat Cat's is now $0.85 more than it was last year.

Perhaps that doesn't sound like much, but last May a double espresso at Scat's cost $3.72. Last week it cost $4.57. That's a 23% (to be accurate, 22.85%) increase in price.

I noticed this only by accident while I was looking for something else on last year's credit card statement. It made me wonder how much other food items have gone up in price since last year.

They don’t grow coffee in the USA, any guesses why prices are going up?
Actually, they do grow coffee on the Big Island and Kauai in Hawaii, but relatively little. A quick Google search says prices are increasing due to changing weather impacting production, increased global demand, and potential tariffs adding to price volatility and uncertainty.

That would be incorrect. Coffee is grown in the US, both Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The hills around Santa Barbara are experimenting with growing coffee in the continental US too.

Over 99% of coffee is imported into the US. Hawaii and Puerto Rico only produce 1% of US coffee consumption. Technically your not wrong but neither is the comment that prices of coffee are going up at minimum 10% if not more depending on the country.

All you have to do is go to the supermarket and you’ll note increased food prices.

Last Independence Day, we averaged $100.00 per person for TS food during a 6 day trip.

Our next trip was 2 weeks long so I reserved DVC rooms and cooked everyday but 2 or 3 meals. Generally, not in love with any work during a vacation but on the other hand don’t like spending money unnecessarily.
Just had everyone choose their favorite WDW restaurants and cooked cuisines from those places; worked out fine.

Starbucks near me is more and has been more for a regular coffee for over 2 years. Thankfully prices have not gone up since paying over 4 for a regular coffee not even the largest size is enough. Regular Folgers coffe around here for the large container has been 14-17 for almost a year. Disney is in fact cheaper… NYC one is paying almost 5 for a regular Starbucks coffee…

LOL, compare that output to what is actually consumed in the USA
