We have thunder, lightening and are under a tornado watch until 4am here in MO.
Weather guy just said we have up to 80mph winds coming in...great...
Its about 2 counties away from me so it should be here soon.
Since I'm back from WDW, it can snow all it wants, DH gets OT for that! But rain? Only when a tree falls down.
Mystery Machine, it's been pretty windy all day here. I had to have my furnace, thermostat and humidifier fixed today so, I never expected RAIN to follow!
You think we'll wake up to icy streets in the morning?
We had some serious storms here last night. Woke at 1:45 to the sound of hail (lots of it) pounding on the side of the house. I thought for sure it was going to break the windows. It hailed for a long time and the hail was starting to pile up in the yard.
Thankfully it calmed down after about 45 minutes but we continue to get hit with storms early this morning. My drive into work this morning was awful. We have had so much rain that it is flooding in our area. I was doing 34-40 on the interstate and I could not see where I was going and I was hydroplaning most of the way. When I got to work the parking lot was a lake. I am just glad I don't have a car that is low to the ground or I might have killed it. As it is my shoes are cold and wet because there was no way to get in the building without walking in it.
We are still under a tornado watch until 8 this morning and they are saying that we could have storms all day. The temperature today is going to be 65 a week before Christmas so it is no wonder that the weather is so messed up.
I hear ya' becka. DD just got on the bus and it does look wierd out there for December.
I thought for sure that the neighbors GIANT Santa, Christmas Tree & Snowman were going to be blown into oblivion...
I'm in Minneapolis, where on Dec 17th we should have several inches of snow. Not this year, it was pouring rain last night, and we heard thunder too! Very odd. However, I don't like cold, so if it's warm enough for rain, it makes me happy LOL.
This brings up a question I've been wondering about. Does it thunder during a snow storm? If not, why not?
Yes, in case any of you are wondering, I've never seen it really snowing. Every 10 years or so we get a little flurry, but not what most people would consider snow. I do my best to stay as far, far away from snow as possible!!!
I heard thunder while it was snowing years ago. It was very unusual. And I also saw a rainbow (snow-bow?) in the snow once. It wasnt very bright or big, but it was definitely a snow/rainbow.
That storm will probably be moving my way in a day or two. When I was a kid, we used to sit out on the front porch during thunder and lightning storms and watch/listen, like it was a big fireworks show. We had no idea how dangerous that was. I still like a good storm (although Ive never witnessed one that was very damaging - knock on wood), but I dont watch them from the porch anymore.
