I just have to vent my stress

Bet you got it at MK beforehand - it takes a while for the virus load to be high enough to test positive, so that's why you got cleared to be on the ship. Glad you are all feeling okay.
These variants are actually spreading pretty fast. My son was exposed on a Saturday or Sunday and tested positive on Tuesday. (He got it from a wedding in his girlfriend's extended family that weekend).

We are back from our Disney Cruise Trip. We all tested negative 2 times before boarding the ship. We were only required to test 48 hours before boarding but we all tested 24 hours ahead as well. We had a great time but 5 out of the 6 of us in my family tested positive upon returning home yesterday. My younger daughter had cold symptoms and was scheduled to work today so she tested first and the rest of us tested as well. The only one in my immediate group who is negative is my son in Philadelphia. We all had mild cold symptoms and if my daughter did not test we would not have bothered as well. No one was wearing masks in the airports, on the planes, in the stores, in disney or on on the boat. I don't regret anything we had a fabulous time with friends. Just wanted to update anyone who cared at all.
Well … crap. I’m sorry that your family got sick anyway. That really stinks.

Well, glad you got the trip in and still had a great time. We got it when we got home from our vacation too...but still glad we went because we really needed the vacation.

Three of us got it the day after we returned from a DCL cruise last month. In the group, 5 others didn’t get it.

Sounds like a couple flaws with the way things are. First of all if you have to test 48 hours prior, or even 24 hours, odds are you are getting on a plane after the test. So that’s a high risk situation. Then you have shore excursions where passengers are mixing with people from all over the place.

I’d also imagine the crew are having a hard time avoiding it. And I doubt the cruise lines are broadcasting those numbers. They stay in such close quarters that it would be nearly impossible to avoid spreading it. And how would they isolate any positive cases?

Yup...there are just too many holes in the covid testing net. My husband starting feeling kind of crappy the night we got home from our trip, but we wrote it off to a long day of travel/connections etc. We did wear masks in airports and on plane, except to take them off to have a bite to eat, sip of a drink. The testing requirement to return to the US had been dropped by then, but looking back he was most certainly contagious on our travel day and so he could have infected people on our flight for sure. Everyone traveling has to know that's the deal when they head out now.
