I just had the Rudest Clerk!

I was all ready to defend Walmart - I'm glad someone beat me to it. I have never had a rude clerk at Walmart. The clerks are always busy there and don't have time to get weird on me.

I have had clerks at other stores that are overly talkative and I don't appreciate their opinions. It sounds like that was definately the case here.

To the OP: I'm sorry someone made rude comments to you about your children and your homeschooling. If I was a SAHM I would homeschool. But we have a SAHD and its better she go to Catholic school.

To the Walmart folks: Can you come and train the ones in NJ? The ones we have don't speak english and the ones that do move so slowly its as if any extra movement will drain them of something vitally important.

Shellie, I agree. I only go to our Wal-Mart for things like detergent and the like. The only reason I don't shop there very often has NOTHING to do with Wal-Mart, but I cannot get in and out of there in less that 30 minutes. It seems like half the poeple I know are there and you can't get away from them! LOL!!

Oh and also, I have never had a rude Wal-Mart clerk.

Our Walmart's clerks aren't rude either. I hate shopping there for an entirely different reason -- the customers! Something must happen to some of these people when they walk in those doors, but they turn into complete psychos, full of "cart rage" and aggression. There are some days when, by the end of my shopping trip, I'm feeling the anger too and I just want to push right by people.

It would be an interesting psychological study.

You and me both! It will only be about half a mile from my house. Dh isn't happy about the potential traffic, but I am ecstatic!!!

Shellie, you are so right! My sister worked at Wal-Mart for awhile and trust me, she never would have made a comment like that. My sister was a SAHM for many years and ended up working at Wal-Mart after her marriage of many years ended. It wasn't the way that she'd planned her life out for sure. Oh, and by the way, she'd homeschooled her children!

I don't shop at our Wal-Mart except as a last resort, but mainly because it's such a hard store to shop at, with stuff all over the aisles, customers clogging everywhere I want to walk, and long lines. We do have some self check-out lanes, which I used recently, which did help.

Honestly I would have told her to mind her own business, got her name and then called the manager when I got home. This happened to me at Walmart one time where the garden guy went on and on about God etc while he was loading my truck with mulch.........I didn't want the guy to get fired but I just felt it was a totally inappropriate topic to be speaking to a person he did not even know. On the same note, a few Easters back my dad and I had Easter dinner at a local restaurant, the waitress had nerve enough to ask us "Didn't we have some place better to be? I was not only flabergasted but also very hurt! We had just lost my mother about a month before that. I again called the manager. It seems some people just really do not know how to deal with people, people do not know what others are going through at any given time unless they are friends thus they should just keep the conversations light.

To the Walmart defenders let me clarify a little bit. The reason I said I knew people would not be surprised is because there is an overall neg atttitude about Walmart on this board. As I said in one of my posts, I have never had someone be rude to me before. The reason I don't like this particular store is because it is a Supercenter, it is far too big, it never fails that I need milk AND bandaids and they are like four football fields away from each other which means you are there for forever just to get two things AND they have like 87 check out lanes with three of them open which have at least 4 people in each line. I used to shop there all the time when it was a regular Walmart, but now I just hate it. Too big and totally understaffed and it never fails that when you ask someone in grocery if they have something or they know where I can find something they always say "I don't know" I tried my darndest to give this store a shot when they did their regrand opening, because they are cheaper, but it is not worth the headache. Now if I could get Cub to bag my groceries, I would be doing well! In the meantime I am waiting for spring 2007 when I will be able to go to SuperTarget which is bright, clean adn will have checkers who are waiting at the end of their row for me to come check out. I love that!

To the Walmart defenders let me clarify a little bit.

And just to clarify...I wouldn't put myself in the Wal-Mart defenders camp. More than anything, I was defending individuals who work at any store. There will be good and bad people anywhere. I hate shopping at our Wal-Mart and love shopping at Target, even though they are in the same shopping center. Having said that, when I was shopping at Target a few days ago I had a clerk who was chewing gum, blowing little bubbles, and snapping them. How obnoxious is that?
