I just had an unpleasant experience...

I work at a college and we are putting together some displays for the election and Get Out the Vote.

One of our Political Science instructors is helping me and she's a Democrat. She has a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker on her car.

We had Kerry yard signs for the display but wanted the Bush stuff to use in the other case. She stopped by the Republican headquarters to pick it up for us. While she was inside, one of the Republican workers came in screaming about the car with the Kerry sticker in the parking lot and threatening to have it towed. When she explained why she wanted the Bush signs, he told her to take them and get that car out of their parking lot immediately.

Well, gee, we were just trying to give your guy equal time, fella.

So Kerry supporters don't support the troops? They arnt patriotic? Seems like a fair assumption to me

I don't know about the "Support the Troops" bumper stickers, but the majority of the Kerry supporters I know would just as soon cut off their arms as use the words "God" and "America" in the same sentence.

Yikes. I'm sorry that happened to you. I agree, he had road rage, and seriously needs to get a grip.

That stinks.

That said, I'd never have a controversial bumper sticker on my car...too many crazy people out there.

What's controversial about a simple sticker supporting my choice for president/vice president?

I went to Kmart to buy "The Passion" and some bread. I came through the parking lot which goes past the exit for McDonalds to a road under construction. No light there. I was waiting for a line of cars and someone from the McD's lot came up and started beeping at me. I drifted foreward a little in case I was blocking their way.

They followed me onto Detroit Rd. and kept up honking and honking. I had to stop for a light a couple hundred feet up where I was going to turn. I thought it might be one fo my sons fooling around. I looked back and this guy flipped me the bird!. He puts his car in park and flies out to my car. I put the window down just an inch and he screams and expletive involving a male bird and....you get the idea. Well, I thought he was drunk. He was in his late 20's dressed in a white dress shirt and tie, very neat and upscale kinda guy. I didn't know what to think. I didn't cut him off or anything. Didn't overlook a stop sign or anything.

I turned the corner and got his license number. As I was driving home, the only thing I can think might have been an issue...I have a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker. Man, get a grip people.

While you think that his reaction was because of your bumper sticker it is probably more along the lines of some perceived violation of driving courtesy. He actually, according to your post started honking before he could see the rear of your car and the bumper sticker.

In order to help lower your blood pressue, let me repeat what I said:

Please note the words "...I know...". Since I don't know you from Adam, I obviously wasn't referring to you. So what exactly are all of the       about?

And to repeat for you:

Please note that I used the word "majority", not "all".

I had some big ole redneck in a huge pickup truck try to run me off the road, years ago, because I had a Keep Abortion Legal sticker on the back of my car. He was hollering out the window and calling me a baby killer. Pretty scary experience. :(

The next car and subsequent cars were sticker-less as a result. :)

The next car and subsequent cars were sticker-less as a result.

I learned that lesson when I was first stationed in Alabama with a Florida Gators bumper sticker on my car. After a game in which Florida defeated Auburn, I awoke to find my bumper sticker spray painted black and the words "War Eagle" spray painted on my back window.

Wow. I've heard of people taking sports too seriously, but that is unbelievable.

So many hateful and vengeful people out in this big wide world, its scary.

Even though he was dressed well, you really can't trust him. He sounded like a nut. Good thing that you didn't roll your window down any further. I would have just tried to get away from him as quickly as possible.:sunny:

This thread is amazing... now people who support Kerry are not for God and America? Since when did Bush and the Republican party take claim of that?

I must've been away during that time.

I can imagine that that can be a blanket statement that was meant for some but I dare to think what kind of blanket statements about the right that would've been quoted and quoted and debated to death if it was posted here.

BTW, the MAJORITY of the people I know are Christian Americans who support Kerry. I'll make sure they still have their arms.

After my son's soccer practice last night, the man parked behind us was scowling at my family and shaking his head, but I couldn't understand why. The kids were happy and well behaved. It was a lovely evening, but his animosity was obviously directed at my family. I connected the dots on the way home. It must have been our Kerry/ Edwards bumper sticker.

For the what, third time now, I said that majority of Kerry supporters that *I* know.

Perhaps rather than commenting on keeping their arms, I should have stated it as "The majority of Kerry supporters that I know wouldn't be caught dead with a bumper sticker that mentioned God and America in the same sentence".

Better?

I've only ever had three bumper stickers on my car in my life time. The first bumper sticker went with the car when I sold it. My dad bought it for me when I got my first car, back in the mid 70's. It was bright yellow with red letters and read, "Question Authority". :p He was so proud of that bumper sticker! LOL! He is a staunch conservative Republican, and he knew the whole time I was growing up I wasn't going to be anything like him! :p

My other two bumper stickers, "Caution: I break for small animals" and "Night Moves" were on the same car. One night someone scraped off the "Caution: I break for small animals" sticker. I have no idea why? Why that would bother anyone is strange to me. :confused3

I've heard more and more stories about bumpers stickers and road rage lately. What the heck is up with that!?  I hadn't heard anything about urine and the RNC though?! That is just sick!  Can someone link me to a story? Thanks!
