I just got back last night and saw a stroller first...

CM do move strollers quite a bit to areas that can be far from where you left it. In the small world area, they have the stroller area that they move all the strollers to..and they move around within that area. I agree that something colorful to diferentiate your stroller might be more useful...

In my 10 trips since 2003 with a stroller..we have never had a problem with stealing. Granted its no bugaboo but a Maclaren isn't exactly cheap. Last two trips were with a Maclaren double. We leave souvenier bags in the bottom, all types of stuff. I bring my purse and camera on rides..but I've left diaperbags.

I plan on chaining my front wheels together so no one will take my stroller while at DLR in November. .

What is DLR??? (Thanks!)

I think it's sad that anyone has to worry about their stroller being stollen. It's pathetic to think someone would come to Disney and walk away with someone else's stroller. Just pathetic. And, while I understand WHY people would chain them up, I do agree that it's rude. It's a known fact that the CM's often have to move them to make room for more, clear a line for people to walk, etc.

Why not just take a poopy diaper (or even a decoy poopy diaper), tie it up in a plastic bag and tie the bag to the handle. The poopy diaper decoy ought to be enough to make someone stay away from the stroller!

I think that its rude to lock a stroller so that it cannot be moved especially if it impedes the flow of traffic or causes an inconvenience for others (such as preventing them from sitting on a bench).

We go 1-3 times per year and we have never had anything stolen (we have seen squirrels in the bottoms of other strollers eating snacks at AK :lmao: )

We have always brought a stroller and have taken anything valuable (back packs, cameras etc) with us when we go on rides or into a restaurant. I bought an excellent stroller from a garage sale for $10.00 and that's the one we take with us to Disney.

Now that my youngest is almost 5, I don't see many more trips with a stroller. Too bad...I love the convenience of a stroller.

DLR is Disneyland California.

I don't know about the old dirty diaper trick. It's been a known trick for a long time. And I don't think I'd want to be seen pushing a stroller around that has what looks like a dirty diaper hanging off of it anyway, lol.:rotfl: That is just me.

I do think it's rude to lock a stroller up so it can't be moved. It would be ok to lock wheels together to make it harder to steal or move. I've never done either because it just seems like too big of a hassle to me. Fortunately, in 10+ trips to WDW and DLR since 2004, we have never had a problem. Of course, we also don't travel with super expensive strollers either. Regardless of how expensive the stroller, it would still be a real bummer to have one stolen while on vacation though.

However we did lock our backpack to the stroller. We don't keep anything valuable in the backpack ...well it is all valuable to us. Nothing that would interest deviants. Just favourite blankeys, extra bottles and liners, kids autograph books, water bottles and bits and bobs. Things that would be vacation disturbing if they walked off and we had to try and replace them. We have heard on this board of backpacks and such going missing off of strollers. We figure the deviants are looking for an easy snatch and having to drag along a big heavy double stroller isn't what they bargain for. That said, we also think someone might notice if they are tugging at our backpack suspiciously and drawing looks from others wouldn't be backpack snatching friendly.

Why not just take the backpack with you?

People don't necessarily just take the whole backpack; a person walking up to a stroller and opening a backpack would look just as normal as a person walking up and taking the backpack. A thief could just as easily rifle through the backpack as take it, so as a person who HAS had someone steal something from the bottom of a stroller, something that was underneath other items like an old sweatshirt, I say just take that backpack with you!

If I were going to lock a stroller's wheels, I would lock the back wheels. My kid likes riding with the stroller on the back wheels, so if I were a thief having a stroller locked in the front wouldn't really impact me much, b/c popping the stroller up on the back wheels isn't hard at all. But if you lock the back, pushing it with just the *front* wheels would be a pain and much more obvious.

It doesn't matter how cheap/expensive a person's stroller is it would still be upsetting to have it stolen.
I don't plan on chaining it to anything. A CM could move it, it just would stand out and look odd to see someone trying to push a stroller that had locked wheels. Like maybe they have no business touching that stroller!

All I know is that it really blows that no none can take a break, not even to Disney and not have to worry (or even think about) their belongings and if anyone will take them.

We are leaving in a few weeks and for the frist time with 2 children will be flying and only taking one double stroller. We have to fly this trip and since we aren't driving we won't have the luxury of space and being able to pack back up strollers. :sad2: (typically we take 1 double and 2 singles as back up) It's easier on the adults to have 1 stroller to account for but sometimes the kids have had a difficult time being SBS. So we are getting a mid range tanddem double. we will be locking hte back wheels everytime we leave it. It's a 3 wheeled stroller and will be unpushable if the back wheels are locked. I wouldn't lock it to anything but since my DS #1 has speaical needs for it to 'dissappear' could make or break our vacation, BIG TIME. So in an effort to insure it's safe keeping we'll be locking it! :thumbsup2

most likely it wasnt taken at all. the CM's move the carriages. they dont just move the carriages around the same lot, they will move them to other lots. we found this happens in fantasy land no matter where we leave the stroller.so now we just leave it in the area by its a small world. too many times weve come out of philharmagic or peter pan and not found our stroller. its annoying, but it happens.

in fact when my brother worked for disney he said there were strollers left there every night. my guess, those are the people who thought their stroller was stolen.

That happened to us quite frequently. We would park in stroller parking, go on a ride, come back and it would be in a different lot.:confused3

We have made 10 plus trips in the last 10 years and never had a problem with 4 kids and a multitude of strollers. I am sure there are occasionally problems, but at this point we take the slight risk and do not lock our stroller.

We were in WDW 8/26 to 9/1 and we did encounter and issue on 8/31 in MK and stroller locking. We were at the Pooh ride around 11:30 am, and someone had chained a stroller (a relatively inexpensive stroller) to the iron railing in front of the ride (decorative railing near the entrance).

Can't say I would have even noticed the chained stroller, but the 3 suits, 2 security guards, 2 police officers, and German Shephard were hard to miss!

So be warned, if you chain a stroller to something, you just may return to a rather disgruntled welcoming party.

I'm sorry but some people can ONLY get a $750 stroller. My triple cost more than that and I could NOT find a triple that would fit in my van with 4 carseats that cost less and still had nice features. So yeah, if I bring a stroller that fits all of my children - - it needs to be protected... even if that means locking wheels together.

I wouldn't lock it to a post.

I've never brought my triple as I normally just bring 2 doubles since I need 4 seats if I'm spending the entire day there - my 5 yr old cant handle an entire day walking Disney.

Sometimes we rent strollers

I understand theres a slight risk of theft but I am not going to lock my stroller. Sure if it were stolen it would be an inconvienece but I wouldnt let it ruin my vacation. I think the CM's do a great job rearranging strollers to keep the traffic flowing in the parks and I wouldnt want to imagine the chaos if they didnt do the job they did now.

either this is tongue in cheek, or there was something much more serious going on there than a locked up stroller. I hardly think two police officers would show up just because someone locked up a stroller to a rail. The idea makes me :lmao:

When I went I took a bright pink paper and made a sign for our stroller. I laminated it and secured it with one of those plastic ties that you have to cut off. I did it to make it easier to ID but later realized it was a great theft protection too. After all with all those strollers in a lot would you take one that had a tag with identification on it that you would have to cut off? Just a suggestion for anyone worried about their stroller.

Wow! I had no idea so many people have thought of and have seen people locking their strollers. I have been to Disney numerous times with our strollers and never had a problem. After all, people are spending tons of money on their vacation in Disney...why would these people steal a stroller?

We didn't have any problems with people stealing our strollers, but one reason I can think of for people stealing strollers is for older children they thought would not need one, then found out the hard way, they did. We had to buy one of the Kolcraft strollers in the park because our almost four year old was dragging by the halfway point of day one. Thankfully we had the extra money to buy it and we could NEVER steal from someone else, but many people do not have the same values. Also, strollers can make you some big money on places like ebay and other online stores. Stroller envy is also another big thing.

People who NORMALLY RENT a stroller so they DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT BEING STOLEN are now faced with:mad: DISNEY STROLLER EXTORTION  and are refusing to pay for rentals.....People like me. :yay: AND NO- I Don't want to see my stroller take a walk. DISNEY COULD SOLVE THIS BY ADJUSTING THE RIDICULOUS STROLLER RENTAL FEES. I think I may even bring a lock, now that I know there is a real problem with thefts.:lmao:

We did the same thing with ours- I did it to make sure we could find it in a sea of strollers (after all it is a black & red mac sport- hardly an unusual stroller  ) but looking at it that way it'd make it the least tempting i suppose if you wanted an untrackable stroller- that being said we also left our stroller bag in it and no problems at all.

HUH???? Never even gave locking my stroller a thought. Definately a new one to me.
