I guess I'll never learn that by not wearing shoes you open yourself up to all sorts of injuries. Multiple broken toes haven't taught me anything but this was the first time I've fallen because of my shoeless addiction.

There was a wet spot on the tile we have in the kitchen. My heel must have gone into it because on the next step down with my right foot I slid on the tile and then I was on the floor. The pain was exquisite!

I was sure I broke my right foot. There couldn't be that much pain without something really bad going on but apparently not. I took most of the skin off of the outer edge when my foot came into contact with a table that's in the hall.

So now I have ice packs on my foot and my right knee. I resemble the walking wounded when I move. This was not exactly the way I wanted to spend the rest of the day.

Falling... I don't recommend it. :(

Ouch, hope it starts to feel better soon. :grouphug:

I don't like to wear shoes either, but except for stubbed toes(I didn't learn either. ;) ) no falling.

OH I hope your foot feels better!! Make sure you take some ibuprophen!!
(not sure on the spelling there!!)

You've got my sympathy. I'm typing with my left foot elevated and in an air cast - I sprained my ankle severely last week. Fortunately, it isn't broken, but it sure has me hobbling and in pain. And I live in a 3 story house, so getting from level to level has NOT been fun.

You can take up to 800 mg (4 tablets) of either Advil or Motrin at a time to decrease the inflammation. My doctor told me to alternate heat and ice, or if one feels (works) better than the other, then use that method exclusively.

Take care of yourself and I hope you're feeling better soon. :sunny:

I cringed and felt bad all over just reading what happened to you. With those very elegant "gazelle-like legs" of yours, you're lucky you didn't break a foot or leg from such a terrible fall!

Yikes! I hope you feel better soon!

When I hurt myself, I find that pain is a good thing. When you fall and don't feel pain in your foot, THEN you are in trouble.

 pixiedust: for a speedy mend. I love being barefoot too. But watch out for the wet tile...

I feel your pain..................I just fell in my shower on Wednesday and feel like I got hit by a Mack truck..............off to the chiropractor this mornig!!! Luckily I did not hit my head!!! Just my shoulder, arem and hip!!! I am eating Ibuprofen like M & M's!!! LOL!

Owie!

Since I started fluttering along with Fly Lady (an organizational/cleaning website www.flylady.com) I put my shoes on every morning and leave them all all day.

Im a bare-foot-addict, too.... :confused3

:grouphug: Feel better soon....

Thanks for all the well wishes. My foot is sore but tolerable. With some significant back problems, falling is the last thing I ever want to do. Needless to say today I feel like someone beat me up with a 2x4. :(

Looks like the next couple of days I'll be taking it easy.

Get off your feet, keep those ice packs in place and spend some time here on the DIS! That way, we can monitor whether you're taking care of yourself! :goodvibes :grouphug:
