George Foreman liked the name George so much he named several sons and a few daughters George.![]()
Yeah right. That had nothing to do with liking the name, that had to do with liking himself.

But we did hear a lot of commentary from both sides of the family that we should have made him Joseph IV. Of course, my husband goes by Joey, his dad is Joe, and his grandfather Joseph, so we were out of nicknames anyway!
Now here is what I don't get: what on earth is with people who try to tell other relatives that a certain name is "taken"? ....... There is nothing in the world wrong with cousins having variants of a particular name, or the same name somewhere in the mix -- trust me; I would know!

I got why you didn't use it - I just didn't get why he cared if you did!!Because BIL said we couldn't.
BIL is the older brother. He's the kind of guy that his way is the only way and you better not question it.
It wasn't worth arguing the fact that we could name our kid whatever we wanted and I was pregnant first.
Plus, neither of us cared one way or the other. We were using it to make the family happy and weren't too upset when we were told we couldn't.
We still haven't settled on a name for our little guy yet because of family traditions. My SO is southern, and I guess carrying on a family name is a really big deal in the south. He wants to name him after his father, Jesse Lester. I am not a big fan of Jesse, but LESTER??? I don't think so!!!
I told him I don't mind giving the baby a middle name of David, therefore carrying on his own father's name, rather than his grandfather's. I originally wanted to give him a J first name because my first son is named James. However, the only J name he wants is Jesse, so we are right back at square one!
The only names we both like right now are Nicholas and Adam. It was originally going to be Nicholas, but a few weeks ago, SO decided he wasn't sure he liked the name anymore.
This poor child is going to be born nameless, I swear!!!
