I just bought a Crockpot

I want to make a chicken stew. Does anyone know how much chicken broth to add. Some recipes call for cans of crushed tomatoes. I don't want tomatoes in my stew. I just want to add Chicken broth. I have a 5 qt Crockpot. I'm going to put in onions, celery, carrots, chicken breasts or thighs, tiny red potatoes, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. Garlic, salt and pepper, basil and the last half hour I will add some peas.
