After a year of many excuses & jumping 2 sizes:eek: I am now a member. Any testimonials as to it working well from my Dis Pals?

Thanks

I joined after I had my first baby and was about 30 lbs overweight. It took me about 8-9 months (without dieting) to lose the extra weight. Then I hit a plateau and decided I needed to do something more. I was 26 at the time and while it helped me to lose the weight, it didn't really get me into the shape that I wanted to be. It just wasn't as vigorous a workout as I wanted, at that point. I think it's a great way to get into an exercise program and I think it's great for (please no one take offense at this) older women, or women who don't have a lot of time to go to a gym.

One of my closest friends joined our local one the day it opened last October. She was already a regular exerciser and didn't really need to lose more than 5-7 pounds, but she was tired of the treadmill. Well, she has gone FAITHFULLY three or more times a week since then and looks TERRIFIC!! She has lots more weight and really toned up. She has tried to talk me into it, and as much as I would like to, I TRULY do not have the time right now. Their hours at ours are such that I would only be able to go during a half hour period while DS is in Kindergarten in the afternoon. It would be a squeeze to do it and then still be on time to pick him up. Plus, I really haven't had the time this spring. But I promised her in the fall when our sons start 1st grade I would start going with her!...................P

I love Curves. You can be as strenuous as you want on the pads and push yourself on the equip. pretty hard. I lost 9.5 inches and 5 pound in 3 months. I have not been very good with my eating, though. MANY people have asked me if I lost weight, so it must really be working!

Good for you!!! :Pinkbounc

I belong to "It Figures" which is basically the same as Curves. I haven't been there in weeks. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow but as soon as I come back I'll be back there every day. I also joined Weight Watchers.

Check out the Wish board too. I've seen alot of posts about Curves.

I am 25 and I have gone to curves for about two weeks now.

It's not a intense workout but it's great for toning and stuff like that...... I do it three times a week and in between a Firm or Pilates video. It's only been little while but I swear my pants a little looser in my thighs!!

Give it a shot and keep it up!!

Toning is exactly what I need. I am going to have to look into it. :)

I have a lot of friends that go there and it is made for women who generally want to lose 25lbs or more. I am a person who is already in awesome shape due to working out for 11 years five days a week so it is not for me. My fi wanted me to join an all girls gym and so we took a tour and got some info but I need serious free weight action!!! I have a treadmill in my home and run for an hour four times a week but I had put on about 15 extra lbs because I did not work for two years and thought hmmm copleands sounds good tonight, and so does outback, and applebees, and Milano's.hehehehe

I went on a strict low carb diet and worked out five days a week and lost 20 lbs in two months and lowered my cholesterol by 20 pts. as well.

I think curves is a good starting point and once you hit a plateau you can just do a more intense work out.

I joined Curves in March and have lost around 6 pounds. I want to lose 13 pounds in all. I feel that I am much firmer and I have lost a few inches around my thighs and hips. I have been a little more careful with my diet but not to any extreme.

One of the posters on the WISH board said that she lost 17 pounds in 1 month when she joined Curves. I think I saw another one of her posts recently and she seemed to be on track. So hang in there and I'm sure you'll see results!

Thanks for your replies. I need to tone & firm as well as lose weight. I plan on giving it my best as well as carb watching. Hopefully something will take some of this weight off.

I just want to be comfortable again

I joined almost three months ago. At my last weigh and measure day, which was about a month ago, I lost 18 inches and 19 pounds! :Pinkbounc I try to go three days a week, but sometimes I only get there twice a week. I'm also watching what I eat, trying to cut back on carbs. I also cut out junk foods, well, I do have my sugar free Breyer's ice cream, which is pretty good BTW, but I only eat a small bowl once in a while, not every night! I eat pretty much what I want, meal wise, but only half of it. It seems to be working for me. I go tomorrow for my weigh and measure day, since I'll be in WDW on the 16th! :Pinkbounc

Good luck! You'll enjoy it.:D
