So there's an outbreak in 8 states right now according to CNN, right?
MAKE THAT NINE!! Argh.
I thought my glands were swollen a bit from an upper resp. infection (I seem to get about one a week). Yesterday, my left gland under my jaw was a little bigger and harder, a little more painful, but tolerable.
Last night, I got up about 2 a.m. and the whole left side of my face was swollen. I look like Frankenstein and it hurts like a you know what. I couldn't move my jaw, my ear hurt, etc. You could visibly see it.
Went to the immediate care center, and the doctor (who was really cute, btw. A real McDreamy) took one look at me and said, "Oh, no. That's my second case in three days."
I asked, "Of what?"
"Mumps!"
So I started putting two and two together (I recently traveled to Wisconsin and Illinois to write a couple of articles and both of those states are reporting higher than usual cases). I had a slight sore throat all week. I have a low grade fever (I thought it was just from waiting for SWA to open to darned September dates
).
This is so stupid. Luckily DD was innoculated last year. There's not much they can do but quarrantine me in the house (Happy Easter, eh?), give me painkillers (YAY PERCOCET!!
) and put ice on it.
Anyone else was to join the DIS mumps club? At least I get to stay home from work for a couple of days and can eat ice cream and watch Maury Povich guilt free. I'm contagious for three days!!

It has been on the news here about the outbreaks of mumps!
I have never had the mumps, nor vaccinated.
