I have the heeby-jeebies!

oooh OP those ears make such a mess, make doggy eat it outside.

(at least your mum didn't bring home a hoof--whooo dooggie do those stink!)

Our basset LOVES pig's ears! When she was younger, she could chomp one clean in a half hour. Now it takes her slightly longer with her with her old lady teeth, but she still loves one every once in awhile.
Be a good doggy mommy and try to resist your disgust! ;) She'll probs love it!

Anyone got anything else I should watch out for?

Lucky for you, I don't think you're serious and won't answer. :)

I've been a vegetarian since I was around 19, after I started putting things together in my mind just like you're doing. Started slow, with roast beef (and I'm not telling you more b/c I don't really think you want me to), and expanded to vegetarianism within a year of starting.

So stop thinking these thoughts, if you want to keep eating that stuff!

I think my worst moment as a "dog mom" came the day that I found out what a "bully stick" is. :scared1: I mean, they just look almost like those tubes of jerky/pepperoni that they sell at the counter in convenience stores...

I can do raw beef femur, but I don't think I could pull off the pigs ears without gagging.

Bumbershoot I was actually a vegetarian for four years when I was a teenager but I ended up being severely anemic and my doctor suggested eating meat again. Now that I'm an omnivore again, I don't know if I could go back to Tofurkey at Thanksgiving! I do admire you though!:goodvibes

And Sarah_Rose... what is a bully stick? Dare I ask?

I've seen the hooves at the pet store before and I couldn't stomach buying my puppy one of those. I would feel like I was letting her chew a giant toenail.:rotfl2:

This will really gross you out then. When they trim the horse hooves at the barn DD rides at, we always pick up a few of the "clippings"

and bing them home for my dog to chew on.:scared1::lmao:

I love my dog.

Ooookay. I'll just guess at what a bully stick is. I am sure I am right although I wish I wasn't!:rotfl2:

Yes, the bully stick or pizzle.

Let's put it this way, the girl cattle don't contribute to this tasty treat!

These disturb me for some reason:

Knowing what they are now, I can't believe they are called "bully sticks". I feel like someone should do a Lady Gaga remix replacing "disco stick" with "bully stick". :lmao:

edited: I just clicked on the second link. I really, really wish I hadn't. Eeewwwwwww.

my sisters dog loves eating fresh horse hooves when the farrier trims their feet. he just sits and waits for him to get done...weird dog

When I worked at the vet clinic (large and small animal practice) I would take home horns for the big dogs to chew on, they loved them!

You do realize that dogs see things differently than you right? My Akita, who had never been in a cow pasture, instantly developed a love of cow poo after a trailer load when by on the road! If I could just figure out a way to package cow poo so that people didn't realize what it was..... dogs would be crazy happy and I would be a rich woman.

That is about as bad as my little shih tzu...she loves to roll in the cow poop. Oh how I hate picking her up and carrying a STINKIN poo covered dog across the yard, and bathing her.

Oh yes. My old dog who we had to put down this fall liked to EAT his poop. The vet assured us it was normal and lots of dogs that she saw did it.:confused3

Well. After that I'm hoping that the thread about owners being like their dogs will NEVER be applied to me!:rotfl:

My dog gets Better Than Ears. They come in three different flavors and mine actually likes them better than the real ears. Ever see the pig snouts that are available for dogs?

I'll look for those!

And unfortunately, the link Jockaroo posted introduced me to pig snouts. :scared1: I need that image out of my mind.
