I'm working on getting my family to DW for the 2nd time. The first time, my in-laws took us (all expenses paid - Lucky I know!). So I'm attempting to plan this on my own. I know I can ask her, but I thought since I love this site so much, I would check here first. I have questions about the cost of park tix & water park tix. I did the figuring and came up with a total of $950 for tix. And this is for a family of DH(28), DW(28), DS(3) & DS(8mo), attending the parks 2 days, water park 1 day. I was selecting the base magic your way tix for 2 adults, 1 child. And adding $50/person to add the water park for 1 day. Am I doing this correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You might come off cheaper by buying a water park ticket separately. Also, if you think you might go 2 or 3 times this year a longer pass with no expiration might be cheaper. Just experiment. We found out that going for 10 days during value season was cheaper including 7 day tickets than going 4 days during high season.

Try looking into one of the discount ticket brokers- I like www.ticketmania.com or www.undercovertourist.com . I did the math, and you could get a 3 day base ticket for $199 and $165 (adult and child tickets, respectively) from undercover tourist. If you are just going to the waterpark for one day, it is cheaper to just buy your tickets at the gate (they are $38.34 w/tax for adults, and $31.95 for kids). so, you could get 3 park days and 1 waterpark day for your family for $671.63. Your 8 month old won't need a ticket- children under 3 are free.

Woah- sorry! Didn't see that you just wanted to do 2 days at the parks and 1 day at the waterparks. You can get 2 day park tix and 1 day waterpark tix for the 3 of you (8 month old still free) for $506.94. If you want to hop, you would add $143.79, making the total $650.73. These are the regular Disney prices- there are no discounts for tickets less than 3 days in length.

Good time to take in the hotel pool. At that age, they would get much more mileage out of an extra day at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM or AK than at the water parks and it will be less expensive. You probably won't even need the hopper if you just plan out your days and stick to the plan.

With the way Disney has their ticketing options set up now, it's really only worth your time to go for stays of 4 days or longer. You know, the difference in price of a 2 day pass and a 7 day pass is really not that much. So, maybe consider adding another day or so to your trip.

Also, I'd scratch the water park. It may be fun for your 3 year old, but there wont be anything much to do for the 8 month old. And I really think your whole family would find more enjoyment out of another day at the park.

Also, consider the hopping option. It gets a little pricey, but this way, since you are only planning to stay for about 3 days, you can hop from park to park and see everything. Otherwise, you are going to have to miss at least one park completely.

You are a young family and odds are will return in the future= consider getting as long a pass as possible (10 day? ) non expiring. The cost goes way down the more days you add, and you will be covered for another trip or 2 even in the future. I agree with those too that said skip the waterpark. You're kids are too little to make it worthwhile (unless the 2 adults are water park freaks!), and you can get a pleasurable pool experience at one of the hotels.

I agree. The pool at Coronodo Springs is awesome, there is a great slide and it is set up to accomadate families of all ages... unless you & DH are real daredevils and want to take turns with the kids I would think it would be perfect. I would think an extra day at the park would be a better value.

I agree. The waterparks are nice, but honestly? You can find waterparks anywhere. Missing a park to go to the waterpark wouldn't be worth it.

You have an excellent point. I think we will wait a few years for the water parks. I'll introduce the boys to the parks first. My oldest son was there when he was about 4 months old so of course he doesn't remember it. And I know my youngest won't remember this trip, but I know he'll enjoy seeing Mickey! I think we'll add a day or two to our trip and skip the water park. Thanks for your suggestion!

Honestly, I don't understand why someone would travel all the way to Disney from Indiana to spend 2 days in the park and 1 day in a waterpark and be willing to spend $950.00 on tickets alone (not sure how you arrived at this amount?) not to mention accomodations, airfare, or gasoline. That is why I posted what I posted. I'm sure you have your reasons for the short trip.

I wouldn't call it critical, I would call it skeptical. A MYW package including airport transfers, 2 nights at All Star Sports, and 3 days of park tickets for 2 adults and 1 child came out to $829.17. I used dates in the summer of 2007 so if you are traveling in a less busy season it will be even cheaper.

Again, sorry I offended you.
