And not just one. It seems our apartment building has its fair share.

First, we have the couple next door who just had a baby. Awww... (I am being sarcastic, not that I don't like babies, but in this case.... )

Anyway, one day DH let the door slam behind him. Within minutes, the mom was at our door, asking us please don't slam the door, her baby was sleeping. Okay, fine. No problem. We have been ultra careful not to let the door slam ever since.

So, today, her husband has been in and out all day, slamming the heck out of that door! I guess since we don't have a baby, it's okay?

Then, there are the upstairs neighbors. I have not met them yet, but I have certainly learned which rooms they like best, and where they like to pound their heads into the wall...which is everywhere! There is not a day that goes by that I don't hear them pounding the heck out of something. And it's most of the time, too, when I'm home.

Last but not least, there are some people who live on the third floor of our building, not directly aove us but kinda across. We are on the ground floor. They have a dog. Apparently the dog is teething or is not housebroken or something...because whenever they leave, the dog is out on the balcony...howling, crying the way dogs do. I feel bad for the little guy, he obviously does not want to be there...he was howling right up until midnight last night. I really want to leave a note on their door. I feel bad for the dog, but I also don't want to hear him howling at all hours.

Thanks for letting me rant! I feel much better now. :sunny:

and that is why I am so glad we don't live in an apt. anymore.

The lady above us weighed all of 95 lbs soaking wet but it sounded like a herd of elephants night and day. The lady across the hall, well her boyfriend liked to get drunk and forget which apt. she lived in. He knocked on my window once and scared the bejesus out of me. Oh yeah, she also smoked pot with her newborn baby there. I could smell it all the way over in my apt. I called the police and got the heck out of there. She slammed doors the next day to make sure I knew how unhappy she was. I could have cared less if she smoked herself to death, but she had 2 small children there.

I feel for you. You don't need to live in an apartment to have rude neighbors. The neighbors who live in the house next to me don't watch their children who run around the neighborhood acting like wild animals. People have complained but it doesn't do any good when the kids have idiot parents. I've learned that I can't rave to long as it makes my blood boil.

I must have some of their relatives living in my complex. :p

There are 4 young people, I'm guessing college-aged, that just appeared out of nowhere into the apartment right next door to mine. They love to go out late at night and speak in rather loud tones as they are passing my front door. They also smoke, which is their right, but the smell sometimes enters my apartment if I am coming home when they are outside.

Last night one of the young ladies, ahem, was arguing with one of the boys and telling him she wants her effing $40.00 that he owes her. Wow, wish I could bring her home to meet Mom!

I'm pretty tolerant and haven't said anything yet. I wouldn't put it past these young people to retaliate in some fashion and I'm really not up for a battle royale, yet. I guess I'll go down to the office and have a chat with my friends in there. I'm not sure that it's legal to have 4 people sharing a one-bedroom apartment.

Good luck with your situation.

We live in an apartment complex also. It's turned into da' Hood. There is a drug drive through going on up near the mailbox area.

The family that lives on the end of our building is not too stable. They have an unusually large number of people going in and out and it's only supposed to be occupied by a woman and her teenaged sister. But, the other twin adult sister lives there with her infant. And there is the aunt and a huge number of friends and other relatives that come and go at all hours of the day and night. They are perfectly healthy folks, but no one knows how to park a car and walk to the door to knock. They sit outside our building and honk.....nevermind that it's after the noise ordinance kicks in at 10pm.....they honk at 2 am or 4 am or 6 am. It just doesn't matter. These are not little toots either these are multiple lay on the horn type honks. We have reported them to management many times, but nothing ever gets resolved. We keep praying that they will move out.

Between that family and ours is a really sweet gay male couple. They are our "Bois". They have become great friends, and of course, they are moving out. They are ready to try to buy a house. We are going to miss having them nearby.

The other side of our apartment has a couple with a toddler. They are ok. The guy is a HUGE gweeb. The wife is ex-catholic trying to be reformed catholic and 1/2 Hell'yun. The kid is adorable, but he still doesn't talk yet and he is certainly big enough to be saying more than the 10 or so words that he does.

The residents drive through here like it's the drag races. We have asked to have speed bumps installed, but so far, no luck.

The kids around here, OMG, most of them are unsupervised and are too little to be allowed to roam around like they do. 3 year olds are off alone more than 3 buildings away from their homes with NO supervision or only a 5 or 6 year old sibling to watch after them. It's just nuts. Gabby actually was working out late one night and ended up escorting home 3 little Asian boys the oldest was 9 and they were out at 2 am!!!

Needless to say, as soon as we can save up enough to get a house, we are out of here!!! I feel your pain. Maggie

when we lived in an apartment we had this one lady who would knock on the door at 6:30 am and ask to use my phone. the first time I let her and asked what happened did you get locked out? she said "no I don't have a phone" !!!! she then proceeded to ask to use my phone every stinkin morning!

I was pregnant at the time and not working cause my son was 2 and really didn't appreciate her waking me up every morning!

I finally put a note on the door "PLease do not knock or ring bell before 9 am Thank you. (she was using the phone to see who could give her a ride to work, didn't have a car either)

Well, she had the GALL to tell my neighbor, "oh she has some nerve putting that sign on her door!"

EXcuse me, its my apt and just because you don't have a phone doesn't mean you can bother me every morning!!

Oh also, the other neighbors daughter was a latch key child and she used to forget her key at home EVERY day and then want me to open her door with a credit card!

GLAD I"M OTTA THERE!!

Phew that felt good!

Oh wait I forgot anothe one! The mother of the latch key child I don't think even knew my name and never said much of anything I saw her one day out in the parking lot and I said Hi and she says "HI, do you have 5 dollars I could borrow? My cars leeking oil"

High class people

I feel your pain! I haven't had too many problems since I have lived here, we live in a newer, pretty nice part of town. But I have some new neighbors.

4 times, in the last 3 weeks, this couple has been drunk and screaming at each other in the parking lot. He's trying to leave, they are fighting, then she gets hysterical. Or she's drunk and trying to leave, and he's trying to get her keys. O.M.G.

And it wouldn't be so bad....if it weren't in the middle of the night. The latest drunk/key episode happened at 3:45am.

I want to call the cops, but it never lasts horribly long. Before I woke up enough to find the phone to call, it's usually over. And my apartment complex office is notoriously bad for not giving a crap about anything you call and complain about. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do about a barking dog"

gah. I hope this doesn't continue, but I have a feeling it might. :(
