I have been coming on this board more and more lately because your wonderful pictures have been able to cheer me up when I have been really down. It has meant a lot to me. All of you have really helped me without really knowing it.

Today we buried my Father. His name was Léonce (it's French Canadian) and he was born in May 1945. He fought Melanoma with everything he had but it was not enough. He had been in Hospital since Dec 27th and passed away on Feb 5th. I want everyone to know how wonderful he was. He gave me my first camera cause he would cut people`s heads off when he took a pic.

He meant the world to me and was involved in everything in our town. He owned several businesses but his passion was politics.

Here is a picture of him with our Canadian Prime Minister (The leader of our country). He was very proud of this picture.

He is on the right and Prime Minister Stephen Harper is on the Left. Thank you all for looking.

Sam, I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't begin to understand what you're going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I had a close friend and work colleague pass away after dealing with melanoma back in November. It was very quick, very sudden. We thought she beat it, as it went into remission and stayed that way for most the time I knew her. Sadly, she relapsed fast and passed before we knew it.

I'm glad the photos here give you a bit of joy during a tough time. I, as I am sure everyone else here, will continue to post pictures.

Stefan

I'm so sorry. You and your family are in my prayers.

I'm so sorry. Losing a parent is very hard and something that you can't understand until you go through it. May God bless you.

You were lucky to have him, my prayers for you and your family.

My father is a cancer patient, we were told on January 5th that if treatment goes well he should make it into 2010. He was not a great father(I am being REALLY kind), and I really had reservations about getting close to him now that the end is near... But I have already learned that it is worth it, I am going to pick him up and drive him to the doctors in a few hours. It does not erase my childhood, but it helps.

Sam .. So sorry to hear of your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Losing a father you are close to is very difficult I know. I lost my father in an auto accident when he was only 49 years old almost 28 years ago. He and I were very close and I still miss him. As the years pass though you will find alot of comfort and joy in your photos of him and because he handed you your first camera. Cherish those photos you have of him and cherish more the "photos" of him in your heart thru all the good memories you have of him.

Oh Sam, I'm so very sorry.:grouphug: My thoughts are with you and your family.

Sam,

So sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I can relate, my father passed away at 49 3 weeks before my wedding and it was an extremely difficult time for our family. If there is one rule I try to follow it's to always remember him with a smile on your face.

As the saying goes "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" and it was only when he wasn't around anymore that I realized how lucky I was to have had a great father and had 20 great years with him and I'm sure you feel the same way.

Keep your chin up, you and your family are in our thoughts today.

Sam, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. I'm fortunate to still have my parents here and in good health, but they are getting up there in age and I know that the day is inevitable. Not something I want to think about. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry to hear that Sam... my best wishes go out to you and your family.

Sam, I am so sorry for your great loss. You and your family are in my prayers. Thank you for sharing the picture of your dad with us. It sounds like he was a wonderful father. Cling to those memories.

Sam, I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I know the pain that you are feeling because it was just 18 months ago that my father left us.

Cherish the memories of your father and that great photo in your post. By doing so, he never truly leaves your side.

Aww, Sam, I'm so sorry. I'm glad you have good memories to keep close to your heart. There is no love like the love of a parent.

I lost my father 22 years ago and I still miss him. I was pretty devastated at the time, as it was sudden. I was also in the midst of finals in college so I had to get through that, then kind of lost it when they were over. I try to keep his memory alive for my children, as he's the one grandparent they never got to know.

I'm glad you shared this with us. :grouphug:

I will be thinking of you and your family.

My dad died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 49- in 1984.

Keep your memories close to your heart. You will always look back to them for comfort.:flower3:
