I Have A Firey Hatred For Heelys

My 10 year old son has one. Loves them! I'm thinking of getting my daughter one too, she's 7 going on 8 in Feb.

As long as they don't knock me down or anyone else or knock anything, then I am fine with it. Nothing wrong with Heelys if you know how to use them.

Kinda hard to knock anybody down if ya only have one each!

They look awkward as he!! when they walk in them. I just don't get it.

My kids both have Heelys and have since they came out. They use them on a smooth cement trail we have in our neighborhood that goes along the C&O Canal. They have never used them in a mall. THey are actually a lot of fun when used properly -- I actually would like to get myself a pair (then again I loved rollerblading when that was all the rage....)

oh you really don't have to think about knocking any of the little sweetums down. The kids take care of that for you.

Let's just say, they generally weigh about 65lbs and I weigh --- well quite a bit more than that.

When they hit, they just bounce right off. :thumbsup2

if they do it in their own house, driveway, sidewalk, etc...it looks kind of fun.

if they do it in front of my cart in a Target, they'll get rammed. :)

Some stupid mother was letting her "precious" barrel down the grocery store aisles in these damn things. Well, said "precious" was on a collision course with a lady that looked to be at least 90 yrs old with a walker!!  A smart thinking customer rolled his buggy in front of "precious" and she crashed into it instead of the elderly lady.

The mother was livid but I must admit I breathed a sigh of relief and chuckled a bit. Mom and "precious" left the store immediately with no utterance of apology.

We nearly got barreled into repeatedly while we were in Disney over NYE. They were all over the resort and parks. I didn't think twice about complaining loudly every time I saw it. When you nearly knock me in the legs, which yes would ruin my trip as it would most likely immobilize me as I have a handicap, then I'm going to gripe as loudly as I can. I even at one point approached a CM about one boy that knocked into my fiance's side. I have no use for those things and our kids will never have them if they are still around.

My DARLING son has them. He actually stopped wearing them until a friend of his got some for Christmas.

He has never ran into anyone or fallen. I think people on the Dis like to lie like rugs about being run into. It annoys me when they are used at inappropriate places but I have never seen anyone get run into anywhere.

Man, some of you are:eek: NASTY! Did your parents ever let you do things that bugged other people when you were a kid?

Laughing at someone for getting hurt, ramming a kid with your shopping cart... :scared1:

I know that some parents do let their kids use these irresponsibly. But some of the responses I've seen on this thread and others make me wonder about adults!

I don't understand why parents let their kids wear these in crowded public places. What are they thinking! :confused3. If you can barely walk through the place how in the world is your kid going to skate through it.

If your little darling is heading in my direction you can be sure i'll step out to stop them. If they happen to run into me you can rest assured their butt will meet the floor and i'm not afraid to tell them they are in a public place that is NOT a skating rink. NO I dont have kids but if they did they wouldnt have heeleys. I'm sick and tired of being run down in stores and having to deal with kids doing this in parking lots at stores. Of course none of these children belong to diser's.

:rotfl2:

Why would anyone lie about it?

Gee, I should have taken a photo of the blood blister I got when some kid RAN OVER my foot when I was wearing sandals. :headache:

I totally agree with you!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
I am just trying (not very successfully:rolleyes: ) to ignore this thread..since I was involved in a prior heely dis war.

ETA: I prefer unsupervised /misguided children to the hateful adults who post about laughing at/hurting children!!!

I think we can tell who the parents are that let the little darlings run ramshod with these things on......:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I am sure they did, but NOT things that could injure people who have no right to be injured.

You'll step in front of a child coming at you in Heely's? Wow, you really must hate them....that sounds a bit extreme, to actually step in the way of a child on skates. :confused3

I don't know if other DISers have these reckless children on Heely's, so far it looks like only a couple of us actually would allow our children to have Heely's, the rest of the crew so far seems to have a white hot hatred for them. But I can safely say my kids are not reckless on them. We don't even go to malls, we live in an urban area where there are street front stores and restaurants and malls aren't even close by. But if they were, we wouldn't be skating in them. When I'm in a mall, I ocassionally see kids using them....never have I had a kid weave around me or make me think twice about it.
