I have 25.5 pounds of candy from MTOT

The parade stops in 3 different places and is a moving dance party with Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, etc .. all the kids go out into the street and dance with the characters. I have to say it seemed like all the kids (little and big) had a great time!
Where are the three locations the parade stops? Is it the same each time.

The parade stops by the Golden Dreams area (actually called Golden State Park); in front of P.T. Flea's (Lesley took her great pictures while she was sitting on the benches across from P.T. Flea's. She was watching the scarecrows interact with the guests, and the parade came by ~ a happy accident!); and in front of Sunshine Plaza. Yes, it is always the same each time.

They give out a special map for the evening and it lists all of the treat stations with a pumpkin, and it also lists the parade route, and the stops are marked in stars. Aww, looking at the map, I see we missed a "Mickey's Trick or Treat Trail". LOL! We got SOOO much candy, I certainly don't miss it ~ but it was fun to visit all of the areas.

I have a question! Did anyone happen to see Mickey and Minnie? I'm curious if they have new costumes this year (I hope!). I saw the pic in mommaU4's sig and I was wondering if those were the new ones! Thanks so much!

I have few questions.

Did it seem pretty crowded? :crowded:

Any chocolate candy? :yay:

I would really like our children to see Toy Story. What was your line experience there? I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hit that first. And then start Trick or Treating?

We are so excited to go. My children are older, and they are all jazzed. I originally wanted to do this for my 2 grandsons, but the other kids wanted to get in the action too. :cool1: So I forked out the money for 10 tickets, and we hit the party on the 17th. It's so worth the cost to have my family together. :cloud9: WOO HOO!

Oh my, the mayham that day. :\ I was one of the candy stockers that night. Some interesting statistics, my 2 candy carts i stocked were going through around 240lb(per cart, both together going through 480lb of candy) of candy every 15 min for 3-4 hours. Thats how much candy is going out to guests.

The lines, lets say, the one by Hyperion at the start of the event went from the entrance gate of Hollywood Tower down all the way to the Hollywood path toward the animation building. It was LOOOOONG. So get your candy last, BUT there's a very high chance that the candy you want may not be available. Each cart actually has a different kind of candy as well as healthy choices. There is about 6-7 different combination of candy selections, like, chocolate, sweet fruit candies, etc etc. I kinda forgot them already. also, you get carrots, apples, fruitthingy, and raisins!!! :) We hit a snag around 9:00 when the carts were out of apples for a good hour. :(

Hollywood was really really packed for the first 2 hours...

Does anyone still have their map that they could perhaps scan for the rest of us to see the candy locations and such?

I would love to see the map and also do you know what time the parade started?
Also we are going the 16th.. how do we find out if it is a sold out date or not?

Lori

All RED Dots are more standard carts, aka Most contain a healthy Choice.

All BLUE Dots are trails where you have to go FIND the candy carts. aka, Candy Trails. Adventurous. usually 3-4 in the area.

Thanks for your prompt answer.

Now I have some more.:rolleyes1

The reason why I asked about Toy Story right away, is that my Grandsons are only 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. I think they can both go on it, and I didn't want it to get too late for them.

We will probably eat first, cuz we don't even start until 7:30. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you know if the night you went, was a sold out event? It is already sold out for the 17th, and am wondering what the crowds will be like?

Thanks again!

Hi Melody! Yes, Friday the 3rd was sold out. Frankly, I thought there were more people than I expected. I had "heard" that attendance (i.e., tickets) were limited to 5-7,000 people--but it seemed like much more than that were there.

Hi! How are you? :goodvibes

I heard that some lines for candy are wrapped around streets! :sad2:

Do they go fast?

Some more advice please. Would it be worth it to go all the way to the back first, and then work our way to the front?

Or do you think most people will want to do that now, cuz of Toy Story?

Maybe I should just inform my family, that the first thing we are doing is Toy Story. (I am very much a commando Mom at times.):rolleyes1 Especially if the line will get up to 40 minutes. After that..............go with the flow? :confused3

Once again..........thanks everyone for all of your input!! :flower3:

Hi Melody

You know, I've read about people strategizing about going through the candy lines. We started to the right, going towards Soaring, and followed the park in a circle. Some of the candy lines were LONG, but they went really fast, maybe five minutes or so. They ask people to hold their bags open, and there are normally two CMs handing out handfuls of candy. We only hit a couple of lines twice, and my bag was almost completely full.

We stopped to dance some, and I'm really glad we did. We also stopped for a photo op with the MousePlanet folks - glad we saw them, too. The Scarecrows were funny, as always, and Chris & I hopped on the Toy Story Mania - first time for me, and I had a blast. We used the single rider line, which brought from a 40-minute wait to a 30-second wait -- ha ha (go Chris!)

We had plenty of time to do everything, even with all the people, and still got lots of candy. If we had been on a "candy mission" I'm sure we would have got more, but we really had enough. :)

I agree with MaryJo--the candy lines went very fast--we just weren't into the candy portion as much-- so didn't end up with that much. We would have done the single rider line at Toy Story too--the problem is if you load on the regular portion of the ride you have to go up and down stairs to exit, which is hard for me. So, we waited in line and then waited more in the accessible line.

There were lines for character meets too--but they moved fast. They were good about making sure another character came to take the place of the departing character so there was no break in the action--

I just expected it to be emptier for some reason.

Okay so I am interested in a good strategy as well. Start in the front, or the back, go to the left or right? Rides first, then candy or the other way around? Pictures with characters or are the lines to long for that?

Also, is the wine counter opened that night at Trattoria? Getting some wine after all that trick or treating would be so awesome!!

Any other tips or hints to doing this party? We are going to the party on the 16th.

I like your idea? Who needs candy, when you can sit and enjoy a nice glass of wine!:cloud9: :rotfl:

I also would like some kind of stategy.

I think this is mine so far.

Wait for the official rope drop or whatever from the Sunshine Plaza, and head over to PP. Get in line for Toy Story. After that, maybe some in my party will want to ride Screamin. If that is the case, then I will take my grandsons to start the candy brigade. I like Screamin, but I'm supposed to be there for the kids. :rolleyes1

After this, then what? Which way? Back towards Bugs Land and Hollywood, or over towards Redwood park, and Soarin?

Where is the best dancing at, and the Characters?

I think I need to read back again.

Oh, and Hi MaryJo!!!

How are ya?? I'm looking forward to seeing you and Cheryl, and the other ladies next week.:yay:

Woo Hoo! :woohoo:

Thanks everyone f the great posts! We go on Friday!!:woohoo:
We leave Phx at 5, arrive SNA at ^, go straight to the GC, check in and go to DCA.
Does anyone know if the gates at DCA will be open or do we have to go in the front?
Are the Photopass people at the meet and greets?
For those of you who have gone. where do you think they are giving the best candy out at? I know, personal opinion but just curious!:goodvibes
Also, is there a certain location where the tees and merch is bing sold or is it just all over?
Thank you to those who posted pics and the map!

Rides first, then candy. However, if your picky on candy, then candy first.
MHT has 6 different candy selections located at varies places, from what happened on Friday, 4 out of the 6 types of candy ran out.

FYI, i said this before but each cart will go through around 240lb of candy every 15 mins. So they would give out around 960lbs of candy every hour.
