I hate when people do that!

I wonder who buys these resales? I wouldn't buy what is obviously used even if it's still in the box. At least Best Buy was giving out tickets per item.

I don't think they ever get used before reselling them, I think some are buying just to resell at a higher price they can command in the neighborhoods where they have thier shops and people are not privy to decent transportation and there are language barriers. So they buy a bunch of stick vacs, tvs, floor steamers, etc for a really good price and sell it to the locals at full price. Around here you'll see the same folks shop in bulk at say ALDI and resell the food at a markup in the "neighborhood mini mart".

some of our black friday shopping is for parents for a safe prom (post prom party prizes). we buy 4-6 tvs each black friday however we all follow the rules and only pick up what we're allowed therefore if we want 6 and you can only buy 2 then we set up for 3 people to pick them up. it's the only way we can afford to give great gifts at post prom we have 400 kids and try to get good grand prizes for them to use at college. we also split up and go to different stores so we're not all at the same store buying.

The only entitlement attitudes I saw today were the people that would take one item and get in line, when they got close to the front 4 or 5 would come from no where and bring them huge stacks of stuff to check out. 1 person in front of you suddenly became many.

We had this at Walmart this morning as well. There was one woman in line and then all of a sudden the rest of her group came up with 6 carts of crap and they kept going back and getting more stuff. Thery were ad matching at 1 am for sales that had yet to start and then she used about 10 of the visa gift cards you get with rebates and such. I felt so bad for the cashier and the rest of us were getting pretty peeved. It would not have been such a big deal if she was the one there with just what she had but to bring the other group and all that crap and then she took 20 minutes to check out. After Walmart we decided not to hit the other early morning sales as it had snowed while we were in Walmart and my life is not worth saving a couple of bucks.

We went at 10:00am - both boys had money in their pocket to burn after a dog-sitting job for the neighbors. I gave in and headed to Target.

My boys were great! And for the most part other shoppers were too. However, my boys were standing back from an end-cap out of the way looking at piggy banks making their selection. DS1 got his and DS2 wanted the last black one on a top shelf. There were two women right at the shelf picking up several others. I picked up the last one on the top shelf and one of the women grabbed it from my hand and yelled "that one is ours too!" Sadly, my son saw the whole thing and got teary-eyed, but didn't say a word. I felt terrible for him.

Thankfully, we went down a couple of isles and found another FULL end-cap of all types of banks. DS was much happier with the selection. The two women came walking by then and began eyeing the selection. I did ask politely, "please let him choose his before you make your selections." The two women did stand and hover but didn't dare take anymore banks with us there - only a couple of seconds anyway and no one else was eyeing them.

:confused3  It completely discusts me that people act like this. It doesn't suprise me... just makes me sad, angry, etc.

So glad that your DSs were able to find banks they were excited about and :thumbsup2 to mom for telling those "ladies" to back off!

That's crazy! And dangerous. Target needs to get with the program. :sad2:

But they had maps online, the ad said go online to look at maps AND ours at least, handed out maps. If one does black Friday, they should do their research. This stuff is brought in specifically for the sale.

That's just sad. I love Target and will shop there over Walmart any day. I actually avoid Wally World like the plague. However, not limiting to 1 per person at your store was unacceptable. They should be handing out tickets for those type of items.

BF is crazy in the early AM and I avoid store opening too. However, in this year's case there was one deal I could not, would not pass up. I have arthritis and I'm only in my mid 30's. I can no longer do laundry because I cannot bend down. DH and I researched front loaders and saw that both Best Buy and Home Depot were offering the same LG washer/dryer combo for 1/2 off! It was $1000 for the pair. Granted the pedestals were extra but still. DH was going to get in line at 2:30 at Best Buy to get a ticket but then was watching TV yesterday afternoon while I was cooking and found out that he could buy the set online through Home Depot right then and there. Our new washer/dryer and pedestals are being delivered Tuesday and we did NOT have to stand in line at 2:30 this morning to get them. Yippie!!! I'm so glad that we didn't have to deal with the madhouse. Now we have to post our current washer/dryer on Craigslist to make room for the new ones.

I did go shopping today but I didn't leave the house until 10 am and was still able to get what I wanted. I've made a huge dent in my shopping and I'm more than 1/2 way done.

To the OP, I would write corporate and complain about how the Target store you went to this morning handled the 1 per person limit. In essence report them. Maybe it will make a difference, maybe it won't, but make sure you pass on to them that you will not recommend to your family & friends to shop there on Black Friday if corporate will not enforce their policy at every store.

We were part of the craziness this morning at Walmart. I love to get the cheap movies, I don't buy them the rest of the year. Well, they had the movies mixed in with games for Xbox 360's. We saw these two teenagers and a man dive for the games and they knocked over the whole display and a woman in the process. Really now, is it worth that?? People are amazing!! Of course I also saw people who were close to the front and get things for other customers behind them, that was nice. I don't think I will do the whole all night thing again though. I just didn't see the deals to make it worth it. I will just go to Walmart and home to bed next year!;)

I always wonder about those people.

But then again there are people on the Dis right now proud of themselves for getting several TV's/(insert hot item here) this morning.

Yes, and going so far as to say they got extras to resell. I'd never, ever buy a hot-ticket item from a reseller no matter how badly my child might've wanted it. I'm not going to reward that kind of greed and insensitivity.---Kathy

At target this morning there was one person who along with her husband grabbed 6 of the same tv's! 2 per cart. Just made separate transactions and looks like they used a different card for each one. (Looked like different cards being used but I couldn't tell for sure). They should really make a rule that is it truly a limit "1 per person" and not one per card or transaction. Several had two in their carts but at least they were with another person. It looked like they had at least 12 + of each tv for sale which was nice. I still didn't get one. I wish they had done tickets because people just ran up and grabbed as many as they could into carts and then had family and friends come in who hadn't been there as long to give them tv's.

Walmart however was awesome and handed out tickets. No running, no madness!

This sounds like credit card fraud, I hope Target asked for Id.

I would imagine they just have separate cards- a Visa for her, one for him, a Master for each of them, and so on.

I love the craziness of Black Friday. But I have 3 kids who need a mom; there is no sale so great that I'm putting myself into danger to get it. I won't wait on line outside any store for its opening. So I got to Target after the fistfights over TVs had been resolved.

So all my electronics were bought and delivered a few weeks ago. I went out yesterday for some low budget toys, pajamas, and other things I could walk away from. The woman I chatted with on line for 40 minutes at Kohls has a son in my school. After I was done with my 15% off coupon, I gave it to her and made her day.

I had a great time, got into the holiday spirit, and didn't put my self at risk. I didn't see a single person who wasn't pleasant.

At kmart today 2 guys had 7 doll playsets 8 lincoln log sets and 10 nerf gun sets- maybe they r doing resale

When I shop like that its usually to donate to a local toy drive- if I find a toy at a really good price I might buy 6-10 of them to donate.

My line buddy had 8 stuffed grinches and 8 copies of the book, and multiples of everything else.

She teaches reading in a low SES area and gives her kids books and companion toys for Christmas.

I did a ton of shopping online and then yesterday did my usual..I start at Penneys for the free snowglobe and picked up some nice items at great prices. It wasn't crowded at all..busy, but not crowded. Then I go to Hallmark, and nothing I wanted was eligible for the 20% off, and then I forgot to use the $10.00 coupon, so came back in and bought something else to use it:). Then I went to Burkes outlet where all cearance is 70% off..got 2 pairs of pants for $6.00. I walked into KMart and saw the lines and walked right back out. Then I drove to WalMart, where the dust had settled, about 9:00 am and there was still plenty of the big deals left, but I just got some clothing items for the grandkids. This is a very small town with limited shopping options so as long as you avoid Walmart first thing, you're fine :)

DW decided that she and I should go on a shopping date about 3 yesterday afternoon. Crowds were minimal because everyone was probably passed out on the couch from the early morning shopping. In each store that we went to, we walked in, got what we wanted, paid, and walked out with minimal standing in line. In each place that we went, I asked the checkout folks the difference in price that we paid as compared to the folks that got there at 4 AM. The response in each place?? Absolutely no price difference. So, we saved just as much as the early AM folks, got to sleep in, and didn't have to fight crowds. So, if you want to shop on BF, go in the afternoon/evening. To put it in a Disney perspective, avoid the Early Magic Hours:lmao:

I was just watching the news where someone got trampled again yesterday. It is just crazy sometimes.

We went back out around 3pm and every store we went to was sold out of what we went there to get....

I so agree with this 100%.

I never do Black friday, dont have the patience for that,I try to start early now in sept or so and anything left after Thanksgiving I do online much easier and there are lots of sales closer to xmas to unload the inventory that doesnt require being a linebacker to get!

I got most of what I wanted online. I even found a 32" LCD tv at NewEgg that would have been the same price as the one at WM after shipping. Ended up not getting it though; I can't justify spending $200 on a tv when we have older ones that work just fine. Got $6 flash drives, $129 PSP Holiday bundle, and scored 20% off and free shipping on a pricey guitar and amp at Guitar Center(they guaranteed to beat others' prices and Musician's friend had a coupon)

I did go to AC Moore today to use my 30% off of your entire order. It was nice and calm in there and they seemed to have lots of all the big sale items. Wish I had a young boy again to buy the train table and big Thomas set for B1G1F.
