I hate the workers at Disneyland!

I would have to agree with Molly, I just can't see how fingers could be in the way of those lenses.

OP, I think you're 98.5% off your mark. I love DL and while I've never been to WDW so can't compare I've never had a CM so bad that I would use the word hate to describe them. I'm sorry you had a bad trip but just stay away, that means less people for those who love it and have amazing CM interactions!

BTW, I say 98.5% because I am allowing for the few that may be having a bad day, or had to put up with a rude guest so their mood is off. No way am I always happy when I'm at work so I always try to give others a bit of leeway too.

I would have to disagree about the cm's. In my experience they are good at both DLR & WDW, not to say that I haven't run into a couple of not so good ones here and there. Nothing to report anyone for, though-just little stuff. I was at 6 Flags a couple of weeks ago, and, boy, was I missing the DL cm's! The people that work at that place are not only unhappy, but unhelpful! lol

I've never experienced fingers in the frames, but I have been unhappy with the photos taken by photogs at both DL & WDW. A lot of times, they don't center properly or get everyone in the picture properly, or it's blurry, etc.... Between that and getting a good photo of the family I am usually doomed in finding good ones! I just take a lot of my own! :)

I am having issues with the fingers in my pic comment. They use Nikon D80s and I have one myself. I have no idea how you can get a finger in shot unless they are holding the lens wrong. Possible but seems unlikely.

I am sorry you had a very bad time at DL. As a former CM of DL I can say a lot has changed since my time. I was there back in the day when females only worked in Fantasyland and men worked in Adventureland/Frontierland. We weren't allowed to wear flat shoes unless it had a defined heel, no eyeliner and if you had to wear 2 rings on one hand, it better be a wedding set. Sideburns had to be trimmed and if men's hair were too long they were sent backstage to the barber shop. I could go on and on and on about the former days and maybe that is why many of us seem so "chipper" back then because we were sooooo afraid of getting that escorted walk to Harbor House and a no rehire on our record that even prevents us from getting job at ANY disney company. But on the other end of rudeness, I have noticed that many guests are demanding more and expect more. Times have changed and the old days of happy CMs who's life surrounded the park no longer exist and yes, it is just a job. For the amount of money they make...it is just a job.

To the original poster: Princess Scarlet, could your perception after 20 plus days of a highly stimulating vacation effected your views? You were at WDW for a week, a cruise right after, followed by Disneyland. Me thinks, you were "tired and I just wanna go home, now" !:goodvibes

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I hope that you can focus more on the great memories you have of your trip.:goodvibes

I do think that when we have certain expectations, we tend to notice the negative much more.

We were at DL at the exact same time (May 1-5) and we found the opposite experience. Every CM we talked to was very pleasant and helpful - some more than others, but very good overall. We had many pictures taken and while I may not like what I look like in the picture, that's me, not the photographer ;)

We've never been to WDW to compare - but we're very happy with our experiences at DL.

I cannot comment about the pictures, BUT

I have to say the MAJORITY of workers we encountered were sooooo helpful and friendly. And there was one worker, named Kai that bent over backwards for our family to walk us all the way over to an attraction my hubby was looking for. He deserves special recognition! Thank you Kai!!!

I was amazed that they never caught an attitude with us for asking where bathrooms were or anything. They were very kind to us.

I was actually very impressed and was thinking that Walmart used to be like that...and wish they would be that friendly again!

Trust me, I don't. At WDW everyone was so friendly and helpful but a lot of the employees at Disneyland are young. They gave me the impression they didn't want to be there and all the ones I talked to never smiled. Why would I find the need to exaggerate about that. It's highly noticeable. I guess everyone was just having a bad week when I was there!

Wow!! We thought the opposite! We thought the WDW CMs were grouchos and the DLR CMs were so nice- LOL. I guess you never know!!!

Hey Molly if you ever do get to Vegas please stop by!

I think that if you are tired you can get snippy without thinking you are and maybe that had something to do with it?

DL CMS For the most part are just wonderful and full of Dl trivia and history. The other day though a cm at the entrance to SM was not so nice. I handed her a fastpass thing that they gave us the last time we were there and had waited in line for 45 min only to be told the ride was down. Well, this CM said,"where did you take this from? I have to call ahead this isnt right? where did you take this from?" I was like "WOW! uh Ididnt take it from anywhere it was given to me by a cm , it was also given to the like 200 people behind me inline that night" she literally rolled her eyes at me and said, " oh reallllly??":rotfl: I kind of laughed and said" yesssssssssss" none the less, we got on the ride, but it was strange. Kind of accusatory like I had snatched 1 get to the front of the line pass :rotfl:
but then later at the hat store in FL there was a guy with the Jack Sparrow hat on who was AMAZING with his knowledge of Disney history. He more than made up for the gal at SM. eh, what ever.

I have been to DL 37 times in the last two years. I have never seen a horrible CM. I have seen a few over my visits that could have been a little cheerier, but 95% of them or better are outstanding.

I think you must not work with the public at all, otherwise you would not have made such a post.

I've never had an issue with a DL CM. They offer the best service I've seen anywhere.

This kind of upsets me to read such a nasty thing about the CMs at Disneyland because I've been going there since I was 3 and i'm 23 now. Not ONCE have I encountered a mean CM. I've also been to WDW and there isn't really a huge comparison. There is no way Disney would take a risk in hiring an employee that was a bit rude to their visitors. Its just too risky for their name. I say maybe next time don't be so picky when you're talking to CMs. Usually when you first notice something negative about one CM you search out for more things in the rest of them. Either that, or stay away from DL and just stick with WDW if you like it so much better.

Us Californians love Disneyland, so sorry for being so defensive, but its not right to talk negatively about our beloved park at all. :sad2:

As a AP holder and local, I go to Disney almost weekly, honestly? I almost always encounter a "bad" CM. Not necessarily bad, but I usually go after work, at night. So I'm sure they are tired and want to go home, so I don't let it get to me.

As for the photographers- they aren't highly trained photographers! I've done 2 photopass shares, and there were some pretty bad photos in each- I think that is why they take at least 2 photos each time. But again, there are many more good than bad, so I don't let it get to me.

I think you are very much over exaggerating in your post :)

I worked at WDW and have seen some of the nicest, and some of the seriously not nice CMs you could imagine. It runs the gamut.

Now I've never been to DL, but I'm sure it's very much the same. Thing is, I'm going on the college program there (in 4 days!) as a photopass photographer, so I hope I can change a few minds. I know I'll have bad days and blurry pictures, but rest assured, I will try to be kind and take as decent of pictures of guests as I do in my free time. ;)

I have been to both parks and I can tell you based on knowledge and friendliness DLR wins hands down!

Sure I have dealt with not nice people at DLR (and all got a not so nice report from me at City Hall), but at least all CM's at DLR knew basic guest information were WDW Cm's did not! DLR Cm's never spoke so rudely to a group of guests at to make us all strangers and families think they were trying to incite a fight like I experienced at WDW. Also when I did complain at DLR I at least had someone who made it feel like they cared unlike at WDW.

I agree you might have had a long trip and if not maybe WDW is just a better choice for you. BTW can you tell about 1,000 of your closest friends this summer that WDW is better so I can get on SM faster???

Well i have never had a problem when i was at disneyland... i mean i don't go as often as some people here lol :lmao: but all the more never a problem. But as a customer service person myself, i know some days are ****ty and you just kinda act ****ty as thats how you feel... never rude or anything but very direct to the point not chipper! Sometimes you just have a bad day, so i could see 2-3 cm's like that but not all of them! Also i notice if i'm having a bad day no matter how nice people are to me i still get pissed off and am not happy! i was a clinc the other day and i waited 4 hours i was  to say the least... well the doctor was nice and offered to send my son for speacial test which no other doctor had menjoned but i was so pissed i was just like NO :snooty: ..... but then i was thinking after words i shouldn't have been so nasty and helped my son out :headache: :sad2: ..... so i think everyones moods effect there perseptions and the way they/other people act or seem to act! cause if a person comes in and is snooty to me i'm sure not gonna be nice to them! Luckly where i work you get the know the regulars that are jerks so you just move away and let someone else serve them

Maybe not all of them..but MOST of them are not very nice. To work at a Disney park your are supposed to go out of your way to be nice. Everytime I would ask someone who worked there a question, they acted annoyed and snobby. And the photographers don't know how to take pictures. We bought our cd of pictures but a lot of good ones were ruined because of fingers in the way. I spent a week at Disney World then 2 weeks later a week at Disneyland and it was such a huge difference. Disneyland needs to take a lesson from WDW.

I agree a little. I think some of the Disney employes are bored with their jobs. Working with the public can be very very difficult. I also agree that SOME of the photopass people do need some lessons on how to capture a good shot. However I have had many excellent shots taken by some from all over the parks. Just like ANY picture taking endevor you have to take LOTS of photos to get a select few. Thats why you buy the CD so you can edit and pick and choose.

working with the public can be VERY difficult give them a break

That's extremely odd, in my opinion.

I've been to Disneyland more times than I could ever count, and I've never once experienced a rude CM. On the contrary, the CM's I've talked to have always been extremely friendly and polite. A lot of them will crack jokes with you and I always ask them questions like, "where is this ride's hidden mickeys", and silly things like that.

They're always happy and what not.

The only reason I could think of a CM being rude is if you're rude first and even then they're not allowed to be rude back.. Or they're just having a really off day.
