The HDDR Angel

On Day 4 of our trip Monday 11-22, we made a ressie for the 5 pm HDDR. Now if you recall just 2 posts back it was raining after we arrived to the FWC and had continued up to going inside HDDR.

Here are a few pictures before it rained:

The check-in for HDDR was a bit crazed and no real line was formed due to the rain. It definitely felt a bit un-organized. When they eventually let us in, it was up a small back stairway and as they instructed people to keep their parties together it just didn’t happen. Matt got separated from me and a few of the kids, he said by being pushed rudely. Our table was pretty much right there on the side and I could see Matt coming in. But he was huffy and annoyed and we sorta got miffed w/ each other. Everything was quite rushed from the second we got to the table…we didn’t have enough chairs…the kids were complaining they couldn’t see the stage (we had some pole issues too)…Nathan was getting grumpy & hungry and the chef was right out to discuss NR w/ me…as Matt was trying to get my attention to deal w/ these other issues…and I’m like “the chef is here…what do you want me to do”

Once we all calmed down and got situated things got a bit better. The salad/cornbread came out quickly as well as our drinks. A little food in your tummies never hurts. But Matt commented we should have gone w/ Cat 3 (balcony) we could have seen better.

The show began and we had a good time watching it. It was hard to take nice pix… once we get all our video organized I have some of that too!

As the food arrived loudly on the tables…you can see N was very excited:

100_7576.jpg

I didn’t have any of the chicken or spare ribs (I just don’t like that kind of food)…I filled my plate w/ beans and potatoes

Everyone enjoyed the food and we ate up a good deal of it. Later in the meal I had ordered a Sangria…why I don’t know, I don’t really care for the stuff (except the kind my Aunt makes) and I had caught NR spitting out a bunch of something on the table and saying “I don’t like that juice”

OOPS!

The finale was getting underway as the HDDR characters were out in the crowd gathering guests to take part…and somehow Bekah managed to get her Grandpa to be picked. And if you have ever seen the show and if the characters stay the same he was chosen by the “laughing” girl. It was quite funny! Matt happened to be out at the washroom w/ NR when he got picked…so it was a fun surprise.

We watched and waited for Grandpa to appear and then finally out he came in a pink tutu and halo (he later told us the wings were too big on him…so he couldn’t wear them)…and he was Davy Crocket’s saving Angel and then “mooned” the audience….it was hilarious. My mil said she didn’t even recognize him.

100_7588.jpg

He was given a souvenir photo and several guests afterwards as they were leaving patted my fil on the shoulder and said “great job”

The kids had such fun watching that!

The strawberry shortcake dessert was served during the finale, which none of us had eaten yet, since were watching, so we quickly ate that and the kids had fun playing the washboard for the last song.

Despite a bumpy start to our first HDDR experience…we really enjoyed ourselves and definitely will want to do this again!

Now I hope you enjoyed those entertaining posts….

Thanks for reading as always,

Wow three updates!! I love all the souvenirs!! I do recognize those sticky notes... but I find they aren't too sticky & they really curl up. I tend to use them more as a note pad on my night table.

Your Thanksgiving looks fun - sorry about the awful incident at Chef Mickey's! One of these trips we'll get there for breakfast. Alex doesn't like many breakfast foods so I hate to spend "adult" money for him to eat almost nothing... but then again we'll be paying "adult" prices for him to eat some chicken nuggets at dinner!

WCC looks like it was nice too - too funny about not much whispering going on!

HDDR looks like it was fun too - were you in catagory 2? Tim & I were in catagory 3 up in the balcony when we were there in 1997. We had a good view but definitely weren't in the middle of things. Not sure what catagory we'll go with when we finally make it there with the kids. :confused3

Can't wait to hear more!!

Love all the updates and photos.

The one of NR eating grapes with grape jelly is funny!

What a relaxing day -- sun, swim and sand. That sounds like a great way to spend T-day.

I'm glad you liked CM. We need to go there for breakfast. We've only done dinner and it was "ok, nothing to write home about!"

I guess the mom of the kid who got sick was so flustered she didn't know what to do. Sorry, it happened near you guys. We had the stomach flu last week and I swear everyone we know has gotten it, too.

Thanks for posting the WL Christmas tree. I had heard about how beautiful it is and wow, it really is. That is one huge tree!!

Now you must, simply you must send in that picture of Nathan getting ready to dive into the food at HDDR into All Ears. that is a winner for sure!! I love that photo -- it is so funny and so sweet and so makes ME want to eat there too!

After our conversation about trying to get Matt picked to be the angel, that is too funny that your FIL got picked! I'm glad you guys had a great time.

If I don't get to read/talk to you anymore this week, MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I'm going home to PA on Friday and really need to start packing! It's funny, for Disney I'll pack 3 weeks in advance and for 6 days in PA...I haven't even started yet and we leave in 2 days!!:scared1:

Merry Christmas Julie and family!!:santa::santa:

What a wonderful way to spend Tgiving! Sorry about the incident at CMs and the strangeness at WCC, some people!

Love the HDDR stories. Too funny about NR and the sangria, sounds like something one of mine would have done. It's so much more fun when someone in your group is part of the show. You will all have such fun memories!

Hmm, wonder what your best ever sandwich is. I know mine would be from EOS, especially their holiday sandwich!

Your Thanksgiving seemed like it was absolutely lovely! I would truly like to have a non-park day like that!:thumbsup2

How great that FIL was picked to go up on stage! I'm glad that he really got into the act!

I haven't used them yet...so I'll keep that in mind...I often have sticky notes taped up anyways ;)

yes you should do breakfast that is all we have ever done there (3 times 98, 05 and now this trip) and each time was a BLAST! I have done the breakfast buffet there, CP and 1900 PF now and I like CM the best

WCC looks like it was nice too - too funny about not much whispering going on!

yeah apparently I didn't explain it good enough

yes that was cat 2...on the DDP for the first 2 shows you can choose cat 1 or 3 for the last show you can choose cat 1...so if we do this for our 2013 trip w/ my folks I may choose the last show the kids will be all that much older and go for the cat 1. but otherwise to see better and not chance being back in the corner again I'd do cat 3

Can't wait to hear more!!

bustin them out right now w/ our holiday break

Love all the updates and photos.

The one of NR eating grapes with grape jelly is funny!

yes it was quite cute...it took a ton of shots to get it just right. she is the comedian in our home

What a relaxing day -- sun, swim and sand. That sounds like a great way to spend T-day.

I agree :goodvibes

I'm glad you liked CM. We need to go there for breakfast. We've only done dinner and it was "ok, nothing to write home about!"

I have heard mixed thoughts on the dinner too

I guess the mom of the kid who got sick was so flustered she didn't know what to do. Sorry, it happened near you guys.

you are probably so true...but :confused3 it didn't actually bother us...we just were kind of shocked they didn't say anything...I hope they did at some point and we never saw it

Thanks for posting the WL Christmas tree. I had heard about how beautiful it is and wow, it really is. That is one huge tree!!

it was HUGE! impressive for sure

ooohhhh how do you do that? I will look into it

After our conversation about trying to get Matt picked to be the angel, that is too funny that your FIL got picked! I'm glad you guys had a great time.

I know it was too funny...he really did have fun and enjoy himself...probably a little out of his comfort zone, but he did great I can't wait to show the video to him and Matt's Family on Friday. there will be some good laughing going on

thank you and same to you...and I so know that packing dilema...I do the same thing packing for Disney at least 4 weeks in advance..anywhere else it's like the week of...like Vegas...totally didn't give myself enough time...I was tossing things in last minute and forgot a TON

Merry Christmas Julie and family!!:santa::santa:

Merry Christmas as well :goodvibes :santa:

What a wonderful way to spend Tgiving! Sorry about the incident at CMs and the strangeness at WCC, some people!

it happens...didn't bother us a ton...but we are DISNEY people and well I don't need to explain anymore than that

it was funny after a made her guzzle a ton of water and you are right I am so happy Matt's parents will have this really fond memory. Matt's Mom has a good one too which I'll share later...too bad have no pictures of that.

Your Thanksgiving seemed like it was absolutely lovely! I would truly like to have a non-park day like that!:thumbsup2

you must plan a non-park day...trips longer than 5 days you NEED it...you won't regret I promise

How great that FIL was picked to go up on stage! I'm glad that he really got into the act!

He really had fun, you could totaly tell on his face. :goodvibes

I'll have to introduce dipping grapes in grape jelly to Demetri. He'd love that! :rotfl:

Love the "there is no whispering going on here". You guys must have cracked right up.

I saw your FB Hoop Dee Doo video and it was hysterical! :rotfl2: Such fun! Oh and the Oops! over the Sangria.... :lmao:

Sounds like your Thanksgiving day was nice and relaxing! Well, except for the guests at the restaurants.

HDDR sounds like a lot of fun. I think we might have to try it sometime. We did the Aloha show several years ago and enjoyed it. I know it gets a lot of bad reviews but we had fun.
