The HDDR Angel
On
Day 4 of our trip Monday 11-22, we made a ressie for the 5 pm HDDR. Now if you recall just 2 posts back it was raining after we arrived to the FWC and had continued up to going inside HDDR.
Here are a few pictures before it rained:
The check-in for HDDR was a bit crazed and no real line was formed due to the rain. It definitely felt a bit un-organized. When they eventually let us in, it was up a small back stairway and as they instructed people to keep their parties together it just didn’t happen. Matt got separated from me and a few of the kids, he said by being pushed rudely. Our table was pretty much right there on the side and I could see Matt coming in. But he was huffy and annoyed and we sorta got miffed w/ each other. Everything was quite rushed from the second we got to the table…we didn’t have enough chairs…the kids were complaining they couldn’t see the stage (we had some pole issues too)…Nathan was getting grumpy & hungry and the chef was right out to discuss NR w/ me…as Matt was trying to get my attention to deal w/ these other issues…and I’m like “the chef is here…what do you want me to do”
Once we all calmed down and got situated things got a bit better. The salad/cornbread came out quickly as well as our drinks. A little food in your tummies never hurts. But Matt commented we should have gone w/ Cat 3 (balcony) we could have seen better.
The show began and we had a good time watching it. It was hard to take nice pix… once we get all our video organized I have some of that too!
As the food arrived loudly on the tables…you can see N was very excited:
I didn’t have any of the chicken or spare ribs (I just don’t like that kind of food)…I filled my plate w/ beans and potatoes
Everyone enjoyed the food and we ate up a good deal of it. Later in the meal I had ordered a Sangria…why I don’t know, I don’t really care for the stuff (except the kind my Aunt makes) and I had caught NR spitting out a bunch of something on the table and saying “I don’t like that juice”
OOPS!
The finale was getting underway as the HDDR characters were out in the crowd gathering guests to take part…and somehow Bekah managed to get her Grandpa to be picked. And if you have ever seen the show and if the characters stay the same he was chosen by the “laughing” girl. It was quite funny! Matt happened to be out at the washroom w/ NR when he got picked…so it was a fun surprise.
We watched and waited for Grandpa to appear and then finally out he came in a pink tutu and halo (he later told us the wings were too big on him…so he couldn’t wear them)…and he was Davy Crocket’s saving Angel and then “mooned” the audience….it was hilarious. My mil said she didn’t even recognize him.
He was given a souvenir photo and several guests afterwards as they were leaving patted my fil on the shoulder and said “great job”
The kids had such fun watching that!
The strawberry shortcake dessert was served during the finale, which none of us had eaten yet, since were watching, so we quickly ate that and the kids had fun playing the washboard for the last song.
Despite a bumpy start to our first HDDR experience…we really enjoyed ourselves and definitely will want to do this again!
Now I hope you enjoyed those entertaining posts….
Thanks for reading as always,
