This reminds me of some friends of ours. They went to WDW the year before we did. They complained about several things, didn't like the food, etc., etc.
My family went and had a blast. I guess it depends on two things. What types of things you enjoy, and your attitude going into it.
You're so right. A co-worker of mine went to WDW with her family and came back complaining, particularly about the cost of food. Now, setting aside the fact that there are ways to mitigate that, the question that came to my mind was: who in the world goes to any theme park, ball park, or other controlled area and expects to find inexpensive food?!?

With good planning and reasonable expectations, anyone can have a wonderful holiday no matter where they go. I am sorry it was torture for you.
Unfortunately it was torture because you allowed it to be that way.
There are a lot of children and families who will never get this opportunity...count your blessings you were even able to go!
