I guess Rush Limbaugh Is Relevant.

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are relevant as long as there are rabid conservatives who enjoy the toxic garbage that they send out over the airwaves each day.

Is there some truth to the things that they say. Absolutely. However, they thrive on splitting this country right down the middle. And they have. The more upset and anger that they cause, the happier that they are (and the higher their ratings go....and the richer they get).

I agree with this

How dare Obama tell people who they can and can't listen to

He's NOT telling them that. Did you read the direct quote? The name of this thread isn't even comprised of Obama's actual words.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

He doesn't tell them to stop listening to Rush. Just like I wouldn't rely on Olbermann or Michael Moore for my "facts."

I wouldnt be suprised if Rush's ratings now go UP!

It is odd for a President to point out individual citizens (Rush, Hannity, Joe the plumber) as "bad apples". I dont recall that ever happening before.:confused3

My guess is that Obama may is keeping a "enemy list" like Nixon did.

His actions seem very UN-presidential to me.

How is their "toxicity" any different then what I here from Olbermann or any MSNBC "stars". I heard them out and out lie too. And some of CNN's Stars Lovefest with Obama is just out & out :crazy2: repulsive.

You know many Liberals hang on the words and actions of Michael Moore and I find him to be vile and disgusting. But that is my opinion so I choose not watch his movies or visit his Bush hating website. He attacked President Bush every chance he got and not once did he get up there and tell Liberals to look somewhere else for their info. Seriously when will this love fest ever end!!! Obama pointing out private citizens is the beginning of the big government take over. Communism here we come!!!!! First the radio then TV. We better start learning to march in line!!!!

I'm a liberal and I don't listen to Moore. Or Olbermann. I consider them entertainment. Not news. I certainly don't form my political opinions based on the emotional response of someone else. Facts are much safer.

I did not think Obama was calling Rush a "bad apple".

I thought Obama was saying that he hoped the Republican's in congress would NOT let Rush's comments that they should not let Obama succeed influnence their vote on the stimulas package.

JMHO

The left has the majority of the MSM, also CNN, MSNBC, and they just can't stand that the right has ONE venue . It's ridiculous, But they will defend Obama, "he didn't mean it that way". Yeah sure.

I said many not all! I listen to Rush and he does give facts.. Now he does go off on emotional rampages which is annoying and that when I change the channel. I know people are bothered by his so called remarks about wanting the president to fail and that is not what he said I was listening. He said he hopes his policies which promote socialism fail and I could not agree with him more. In fact any true conservative would agree with that. Besides that Liberals were very open about wanting President Bush to fail(the man not his policies) and where was the outcry for that?

Obama advises Republicans not to listen to Rush Limbaugh
I did read it to me that is what he is doing telling people not to listen to Rush. He has no right to tell anyone what people can and can't listen to

Does Obama not think that the Republicans don't like the plan because they truly believe it isn't the correct solution?:confused3

I highly doubt in their meeting that the Republicans said they weren't going to vote for the stimulus package because Rush said not to.

Every president has had to deal with extreme opinions during their term and I've never heard one of them call a particular personality out. This just sounds like Obama not getting what he wants. I'm sure he wants both sides to agree on the stimulus package because if/when it fails, he doesn't want the country saying it was the dem's fault and they didn't know how to handle the economy.

:rotfl2: That is the media's paraphrased headline. They made those words up based on THIS QUOTE FROM OBAMA:
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

YOu can't JUST listen to Rush. Nowhere does it say "YOU MAY NO LONGER LISTEN TO RUSH BECAUSE I AM NOW DICTATOR OF THE WORLD! MUWAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAA!"

That's the main problem with the "Fairness Doctrine". I don't understand all the technicalities of it, but if it was re-implemented the only media outlet to be effected by its rules would be radio.

CNN, MSNBC, ect.. would be fine and not have to apply to it. They can continue on with their very one-sided “stories” “opinion pieces” “talk shows” ect… all they want.

Rush, Hannity, ect... that's who will be effected. This why the left has no problem with it. They won't have to worry about. This is why they want it - to shut-up their opponents.

To me, that's not very Constitutional. I’m a firm believe in freedom of speech but the left has proven many of times that they only believe that should apply to their side and the Conservatives should not be allowed a voice.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders,

Where does that say "you are not allowed to listen to Rush."

This is exactly what I heard on an independent station the other day. Listening to these blowhards on the left or right do not do anything but cause divisiveness. They shout out talking points to get everyone riled up, but they don't offer solutions.

Pu-less. I dont care fore Rush because I think he talks a lot ot rhetoric.

But as is typical of the left - anyone that disagree with them must have something wrong with them.

The Left is the most intolerant, hate-filled, name calling, closed minded group that exists with the exception of skinheads and the KKK. And the worst part about it is that while the skinheads and KKK are marginalized in this free society, the left gets to spew their poppycock freely in TV, Movies, the net and newspapers.

I agree with Dawn and Dolce! Obviously those who hate Rush Limbaugh and what he has to say DO NOT listen to Rush because they are interested in what he has to say, and ARE NOT conservatives! They get their info from radical left-wingers' edited sound-bites. Obama can kiss my behind if he thinks he can tell me who I should listen to and what I should read. Honestly, the arrogance of that man grows larger by the day, along with his head!

Icarus. That is all you need to know.

Well, when I hear Obama say that you can't JUST listen to the MSM, to include Keith Olberman, Chris "tingle up my leg" Matthews, and their ilk, then maybe I'll change my opinion of what I think Obama meant.
