I guess it is OK to go to DLR in your underwear

Not sure about the panties part but bralets are in again (think Selena in the 90s) so I'm sure they'll be around more often.

I may not agree with it but unless it was a thong bottom I never got the big deal. It is all just the human body and the private areas are covered.

It isn't like it is in the parks.

My remark about what kids might see was meant to be funny. Sorry if it was misunderstood.
And I am glad to see that there are folks who still believe in some degree of decency. I am thinking that maybe this woman was just visiting DTD and wondering what would have happened if she entered the park and went walking down Main Street. I am sure Disney has some kind of limit on what they would allow a person to wear. Thanks to all of you for your comments.

omg i totally know where you are coming from, we were over by screaming the other day and there were about 4 girls whose butt cheeks were literally hanging out of their shorts I dont understand why people dont have more respect for young children since it is a place for kids and themselves really

Really? I remember a thread a few years back about using foul language while in the park. Quite a few comments were that it was nobody's else's business.

When I see something like that, I generally say pretty much what you just did.

I normally say it in a loud enough voice that the under dressed person can hear it.

Yep, it may be rude, but so is walking around in your underwear.

Yeah DTD is a different story compared to the parks. I doubt she would have been let in in that. The way fashion trends are heading this might be a more common occurrence. At least she was a woman- I see teen girls wearing "shorts" with their butt hanging out and it just makes me wonder what is the point of even wearing shorts?!

So this was worthy of a thread and a WARNING? Cuz kids might see something that will harm them in some way.
Come ON. One walk through the parks on a hot day and you see plenty.
I think it's interesting your daughter thought her best move was to complain to a store clerk. Wow.

What is "offensive" to one is not to another. I'm a very modest person, but I don't make it my business to clutch my pearls. This seems so silly to me. Just my opinion, only mine.
There are dress codes in place, or informed decisions--as mentioned above. Those codes are loose guidelines and we have all seen it. It's the reporting and warning about what kids might see that make me laugh. Seriously.

Yes, it's just your opinion, but can you express it without the snide undercurrent of insults toward the OP? o_O

I'd love to see a picture. I find it super hard to believe people are walking around in underwear. Swimwear? Yes (though not appropriate). Bandeau tops? Yeah...not my cup of tea, but technically they qualify as a shirt-like thing. Super short shorts that look like underwear? Yeah, it's hot and it's southern California. It's what some people do. But straight up underwear? That's a new one. I personally think even those short shorts that show your butt cheeks are inappropriate, but whatever. Maybe if I had the body to flaunt it, I would, too.

My daughter was on a trip to DLR early this month with her four young children, ages 5 to 10. They were in the Build a Bear store in DTD. My daughter sees this young woman come in wearing only a bra and panties. My daughter is in her early 30s. She knows the difference between lingerie and a cute little outfit. She went up to the clerk and stated that she did not feel that what the woman was wearing was appropriate, especially in Build a Bear where there are many young children. The clerk said they could not do anything about it because what the woman was wearing was her fashion choice. I have never heard the term fashion choice but I guess it means we can go around DLR in whatever we choose to wear. So be careful. Your kids might get an eyeful in DLR.
Yuck. Sorry to hear that happened. Some people...

I think it's true that a billboard or tv commercial shows just as much or possibly more than what her children in saw in DTD. Our families, friends, and general community exhibit more modesty, so I don't worry too much about my daughter seeing a half naked teen running around somewhere. She has enough appropriate influences that it is clear such attire isn't normative or beneficial. The saddest part of the situation is that this young woman thought that was the best way to present herself to the world. She doesn't see herself as both beautiful enough and valuable enough for her body to be a privilege reserved for sharing with someone special. If it had been swimwear and she was at water, I wouldn't think anything of it, but outside of water, you're probably looking for attention. Yes, it is everyone's right to dress as they please, but it speaks volumes to me that when many young women want to be noticed, they equate sexually attractive with beautiful, and it simply isn't so. Just my 2 cents.

Laundry day and she ran out of panties?

This makes me happy that our next trip is in November. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but it will probably be less likely. Of course, I live in Phoenix, and it's a million degrees outside, so I'm surprised we haven't seen more skin than that in public places yet this summer...

Out in AZ too and out here people know if it is not covered, it will burn and all it takes in burning those bottom biscuits just once then trying to sit! Can we all say, OUCH! Plus it isn't fun rubbing lotion all over, day in and day out and the spray lotion makes it horrible to breathe. :rainbow:
