I gotta vent about the buses!

I read a ton of posts that say the buses here are faster than the buses there etc...Ive stayed at many resorts from value to deluxe and noticed that sometimes you wait 15 minutes for a bus, sometimes its 5 minutes, sometimes its there when you show up. Actually, the longest I ever waited was at the Contemporary!...it was 35 minutes!

Bottom line is they'll always be delays whether its traffic or whatever, but I think the schedule is pretty much the same at every hotel.

OK....vent over. :rolleyes1

First let me say that the WDW Bus Drivers are the greatest at what they do. How they can drive those buses like they do while always having a smile is beyond me.

However, I can not stand those buses. Waiting for them, standing packed among sweaty, smelly bodies...you get the picture. I always stay at a resort on the monorail or the wilderness lodge with the boats. I will drive to any resort I can't get to except by bus.

Generally speaking, the buses are set on a 20 minute (or about) schedule. So, if you arrive at the resort bus stop just after the last MK bus left, you may have a wait of 20, or so, minutes before the next one. But, if you arrive 15 minutes after the last bus left, the wait will be shorter, naturally. I have to say that I have no issues at all with the buses. Yes, they get packed when it's high season, usually during the summer. But, if you plan accordingly, you can avoid being a 'human sardine'...leave the park 20 minutes before park closing, or sit and people watch for about 20 minutes after the park close. Lines will be shorter, and buses less cramped. Only one time in over 10 visits can I remember being truly uncomfortable on a bus...that was right after Hurricane Charley hit, we were staying at BWV 2 days after the storm, and it was horribly humid.....the buses were crammed full at the end of the day, at MK park closing, and since BW shares the bus with at least two other resorts, it was a zoo. But, that was the one and only time I've had a problem.

I think the busses are great. I stayed at Old Key West and my only issue with them was the windy setup. Sometimes we'd head straight to our destination, other times we'd have to go to every other busstop along the windy roads. We never had to wait more than 20 minues though and they seemed to get us where we needed to go pretty speedy. No need to deal with parking, so I think they're very convenient.

The buses are what they are. They're free and everyone uses them. The posts about going early or late are right and at times you may have to wait up to 20 min. for a bus. My biggest complaint is that I stay at BWV and that bus is shared with Swan, Dolphin and Yacht and Beach clubs. It makes for a very packed bus. Sometimes they do split up these buses, but BWV always seems to get the short end of the stick. I find that if I give myself an hour to get from point to point then I'm ok. I've also found that at times it's quicker to get off of the bus at the Swan than going to Boardwalk.
