I Got My Disney Fix and I Feel Fine! An illustrated story.

Way to go with the Locks of Love donation. :thumbsup2
Love all the pictures and videos. Thanks for sharing.
So cool you got the best seats in the house and DH was picked to help.:cool1:

After I posted my last bit, I spent three hours writing new installments of this trip report. I was so proud of myself!

But, somehow, it's gone. I must not have saved the thing, which is highly unusual for me. But all the whining aside, I'm working on more, hopefully to be posted sometime today or tomorrow.

Until then ...

just found your Tr... I just showed my kids the picture of the pool and slide and they are soo excited now to be staying at POR this summer...
Can't wait to hear more:)

I got this written quicker than I thought!

Looking back on our trip I have come to realize just how lucky we were in how our days went. Maybe it was from the literally 10 months of planning, studying Steve Soares entertainment website, asking questions on the DIS like my life depended upon it, or the fact that we were just so darn excited to be there that we didn’t waste a moment of our time. Yet I am positive that is was from my near-strict adherence to the Unofficial Guide and its online touring plans. I’ll give you many examples of just how smoothly our trip was as we go along, but I’ll never go back to Disney World without the UG and the touring plans. What a dream!

(I’ve even picked up a copy of the UG to Disneyland for our upcoming trip in June – not that I need it for Disneyland, but for California Adventure. We’ve never been there, so I’ll need all the help I can get!)

Since “officially" going to the FOTLK was not in our touring plans for the day, we needed to juggle things around as best as we could to get in what we could. It was a special treat, even though it meant missing the Flights of Wonder and exploring some of the trails. As the lights came on in the Lion King Theater, we checked our schedule and knew that we had to quickly boogie on over to see Pocahontas and her Forest Friends, or Sweetie Girl would never let us forget it for the rest of our lives.

Dinos & Pocahontas – that’s all she cared about seeing at Disney World.

We arrived at Grandmother Willow’s Grove just minutes before the show started, so we sent the kids down to the kid’s seating area and grabbed the best seats we could. I loved that they had the special seating for the kids!

Then, SHE came out. I’m sure that I felt Sweetie Girl’s excitement from where I sat. I could barely see her, but she was finally seeing Pocahontas!

Sweetie Girl and I had already watched the show on YouTube a few months before, so I knew what to expect. Pocahontas kept the kids rapt attention the entire show by interacting and keeping eye contact with them. She has a beautiful voice and nerves of steel for actually carrying out a snake onto stage. That gave me the willies!

Here are a few shots of the show:

And the animals:

This was a very cute show which also taught a bit about conservation, as well. The kids loved it, especially Sweetie Girl. I’m not sure if we’ll return to this show the next time we visit since the kids will be much older then (maybe in 4 years from now?), but I am glad we were able to fit this in. If anything, it was another nice spot to rest and be entertained in the middle of a hot afternoon.

We hung around for a while after the show was over to meet Pocahontas. They also gave out paper leaves like those that were released in the show, which Sweetie Girl has treasured. Then it was time to move on to our next destination – ice cream snacks and the Kidcot Station. Here there was a log for children to try and identify different animal objects in a large log (I can’t remember what they were – sorry!).

They did enjoy talking with the CM at the station about different animal things. They got their passports stamped, then we headed on over to the next destination – Rafiki’s & the Conservation Station to see Pocahontas – again!

just found your Tr... I just showed my kids the picture of the pool and slide and they are soo excited now to be staying at POR this summer...
Can't wait to hear more:)

You will love POR! It is so beautiful. You must take the time to explore the grounds. You kids will ove the main pool! It's great and slide is so much fun. My kids could've stayed there for hours if we had let them.

We're definitely going to schedule in one pool & resort day for our next trip.

WOW, what a fun trip!!

Your bit about EE was pretty funny. Believe it or not, my 5 year old DD went with DH on EE and they sat on the front row and SHE LOVED IT!! SUCH a dare devil!

I'm with you, HEIGHTS scare me!

great update and pics. I missed Pocahontas show when we were there. I did see her at Planet watch or Raifiki, which ever u call it. :lmao:

Okay - this is really wierd. I just posted a reply on here and it didn't show up. Watch, it showed up on another thread! :rotfl: I guess I gotta type it again!

Thank you, thank you for all of your sympathy, because I got none that day. That's just not Handsome's way. At least I can count on my DIS friends when it really matters, huh? ;) :grouphug:

But I would not look down on anyone who chose not to ride it because it looks too scary - that's just not my way. You're brave if you do and smart if you don't! :lmao: At least I can say that I rode EE. Big old wimpo here bit the bullet and went on with her family instead of standing below and waiting. At least I can be proud of that. But I could've done some shopping, though. Hummm....

Just like I can be proud of the fact that I once climbed up to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. Yup - I actually did it. Now there was an experience. I was scared out of my skin, but I did it anyway, mostly due to peer pressure and the fact that I'd never forgive myself if I missed the chance. This was way before she was renovated, so you could see New York City through her "skin" as you went up. eek. The climb up was much easier than the walk down. I held up the line big time that day. Needless to say I didn't make any friends with tourists or New Yorker's that day. :rolleyes1 But at least I did it! I'd never do it again, but I did it once.

I can give myself a hug for that! :grouphug:

Oh My Goodness you poor thing. Stuck on any ride way up in the air is a nightmare. The ferris wheel at CA in Calif. looks scarier than any rollercoaster to me. Can you imagine being at the top of that when it stops. Yikes :scared1:

We were in Yellowstone once and decided to hike down to some lower falls or something or other. Part of the "hike" was to decend down a staircase they had bolted to the cliff. You could see through the staircase to the floor below. Needless to say I decended the staircase one step at a time clinging to the side and sitting on my behind. DH was running down the stairs ahead of me to turn and take pictures of me on my booty scooting down the steps. Other hikers found the floor show we were providing to be quite entertaining. Guess the point of this is I feel your pain on the no sympathy :grouphug:

It has been too long since I wrote anything. I gotta get working on this again. Hopefully I'll have something within the next couple of days.

Hope you all are doing well!

Believe it or not, I'm back!!! :jumping1:

It was just an insane Spring semester with the kids & school that I lost track of a lot of things. And I also started doing some serious scrapbooking so I could try to catch up on my backlog of albums to be made (such as the one for this trip). But now with our summer vacation behind us (which included a trip to Disneyland and California Adventire!) and with the kids back in school, I'm ready to get started again!

Okay - I left you all hanging after seeing Pocahontas & her Forest Friends, which Sweetie Girl is still talking about. But it wasn't enough Pocahontas for her, so we boarded the Wildlife Express train...

239225713_NQf7F-M.jpg

over to Rafikis - the Conservation Station ...

239226336_VaQaL-M.jpg

so she could spend some one-on-one time with her favorite Disney princess.

We love trains, mostly because my father is a model railroader. He gave us all the passion for trains. So, half of the fun of going to the Conservation Station was because we could ride this train. All Aboard!

247141888_yr6Nb-M.jpg

Mick also likes to ride trains, mostly because he doesn't have to listen to all of the "please stay in your seat" rules. It must be nice!

239225985_VSZ8b-M.jpg

It was cool to see where the animals "live" in the evenings, too.

247141101_gVSve-M.jpg

So, we arrived at the station.

239226150_ZPz2L-M.jpg

We stopped by the kidcot place on the way (the kids had fun there) before we got up to the main building to search for Pocahontas. But we were also quicky sidetracked when we saw the snakes.

247141868_iFrS9-M.jpg

And Mick got to pose with a CM and her tarantula.

247142541_YnnWW-M.jpg

Alas, Pocahontas was not at the meet & greet station, but we were quickly informed that she would be out after this wild and crazy one took his break:

239226030_QEJkC-M-1.jpg

Ummm, Rafiki, that is. ;)

But after what seemed like an eternity, Pocahontas appeared. Sweetie Girl was almost speechless! Pocahontas was thrilled to see her dressed in her costume and made sure to say that she was the only Pocahontas that she had seen that day.

247142014_qxpbY-M-1.jpg

Then the CM who was assisting Pocahontas suggested that they pose for this next photo, which I thought was a wonderful idea:

247142161_9XqxZ-M-1.jpg

There were very few other children to see Pocahontas, so she spent a lot of time just chatting with Sweetie Girl when other children were not around. She was just wonderful! They spent time talking about the other characters in the movie, about animals and ecology, and about Sweetie Girl and her interests. I got a bit of it on film - it was so precious!

Sweetie Girl was loath to leave her, but it was time for Pocahontas to take her break. So we all went out to see and pet the animals.

I had no idea what to expect at the Conservation Station. I read so many mixed reviews of the place that we just had to check it out for ourselves. Well, we really didn't have a choice since Pocahontas was there. But we had a wonderful time! While Sweetie Girl was becoming best friends with Pocahontas, Handsome and Buddy Boy were in an out of all the sound booths and reading all of the displays. I guess we missed the main event of the day since that morning a tiger had been getting his dental check-up and the place had been packed (we were told).

Would we visit there again? In a heartbeat! It's not a thrill ride, but it was a fantastic getaway place from the hustle & bustle of the park. We were there for at least an hour and the kids didn't want to leave when it was time to go. We've already decided that on our next WDW trip we will spend at least two days in Animal Kingdom, just because there is so much to see outside of the rides- and we only touched the surface!

So we boarded the train...

239226150_ZPz2L-M.jpg

so we could return to civilization...

247142640_vNvmC-M.jpg

to say "good riddance" to EE...

247142723_TP7No-M.jpg

exit the park...

247142754_AhL33-M-1.jpg

and make our way over to Boma for dinner.

215993103_bohfw-M.jpg

And you can read all about that in my dining TR, if you want.

Next up: Epcot!

Nice to have you back.
