I got an autograph in the mail that has me smiling

Just got an autographed photo from Bill Macy (he played Maude's husband on the show). What an amazing guy!

On his photo he wrote "Me at 50 - now I'm 81!"

He sent me a nice handwritten letter with little cartoons drawn all over it. He said he drew the cartoons because he liked the I drew on the letter to him.

He told me about an "ER" episode he's going to be on, and a movie he did with Ben Affleck.

Such a sweet man. Not all celebrities have big heads. He's a good example.

Not only a picture, but a handwritten letter with little drawings? That is so nice. I loved his character on Maude. I can hear him say "Maude" right now - more like "Mawd" .

When I was younger I used to write many sincere letters to people I admired--some before they got very well known. I have received a number of very nice handwritten notes and autographs (Edward James Olmos when he was on "Miami Vice" and Charles Shaughnessy from "Days of Our Lives" and "The Nanny" sent wonderful letters).

It is always a pleasant surprise when famous folks act like "regular" people.

It's especially good to write to the older celebs, since they often have developed an appreciation for their fans that the hot, young stars don't have. They're usually very accomodating and cordial.

Although, there are exceptions. Ethan Hawke, for example, sent me a nice handwritten letter from a movie set. He didn't have a professional photo available, but sent me a computer scan of him and Uma Thurman in "Gattaca". They both signed it. That was a great one for me.

My oldest ds received an autograph pic of Staind in the mail from the group. Signed by all of them. This is one of his favorite groups and he had sent them in a letter of appreciation and they sent the signed photo to him.
They are really nice guys--we got to meet the at 2 different concerts. Its so nice to that the fame doesnt always go to peoples heads and that some fo them are just genuinely nice.
