I gave in and made ADRs

Really? Explain how they do it then.

An ADR for 2 at one place at 6:00 pm at one place in a girls name, and then an ADR for 2 at another place at 8:00 pm in a guys name...

Also, what if someone did this intentionally to try as many different meals as possible on a trip? What if one person planned on having an entree at Marrakesh but the other had their heart set on the place in Mexico? So they plan to dine at both over the span of a few hours. Disney would cancel on them?? That's ridiculous.

If Disney cancels that person ADRs, they have every right to complain to the highest level. So...how would they tell the difference? There are plenty of perfectly legit reasons why a person might book two meals within the span of a few hours. At least someone paying cash. I have no clue how the dining plan works (nor do I really care, keeping track of credits etc. would drive me mad)

According to what Sassy is saying, I book an ADR for Rose & Crown at 7:50 pmand I book an ADR at Marrakesh for say, 6:30 pm. Anyway... what if I book the Marrakesh for my meal and Rose & Crown for dessert? I've done that plenty of times in the past (not at those two places and not with ADRs because I've pretty much never had to make an ADR before).

So according to Sassy, I can make the aforementioned plan completely with the intention of eating one meal at one place and dessert at another and have all my ADRs canceled because I am apparently a horrid selfish person?

If Disney is in the business of doing that, that's really bad customer service.

I begrudgingly(sp?) did the same thing for my upcoming June trip. I have never made ADR's before except for bfast at the Castle in 1999. This will be our 11th trip since 1997 and the first time that I've made ressies(I hate that word BTW). Gone are my days of the carefree, let's just wing it Disney nerd. I have gone to the dark side. The next thing you know I may even at some point purchase the(dare I say it?) DDP!!! ;) (Please note, the wink denotes some sarcasm, not much mind you!)

lol... I looked into the dining plan before I booked my trip and honestly, it made my head hurt. I don't want to have to keep track of credits and what not.

We did the dining plan once. And it did give us headaches.:headache: Rushing from here to there trying to make ADRs since we'd essentially already paid for the meals. It was a mad dash of crazyness! Our whole trip revolved around food! The relaxed attitude of "let's just mosey on around and we'll eat when we eat" went out the door. :sad1:

We leave for Disney this Thursday and we are back to our no dining plan adventures! I can't wait! Let the relaxation begin! :hippie:

Here's hoping that your ADR's put a smile on you and BF face when you find how much time and disapointment they save. We say they are our FP for food, and wind up saving so much time and aggravation later. :goodvibes

That's what the CM's say.

Disney has to deal with the problem of people booking multiple ADR's because they haven't decided where they want to eat or they want to have backup plans at each park. In the meantime, other people aren't able to get a reservation but the restaurant sits half empty because people don't show up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see credit card holds or deposits required for all restaurants if this continues to be an issue.

None of the ADRs I made required a credit card hold. I don't think I've ever heard of that, except for maybe V&A.

Some do such as CRT and California Grill.

I don't know that such a thing will happen, I just wouldn't be surprised if it did or if at the very least, more restaurants required it.

I wonder how they'd do that with people on the free dining. Would they charge them?

Personally, if it would make it easier to make ADRs I'd gladly put credit card holds on the places I wanted to go.

There would definitely be some logistics to work out first and hopefully they would get all their CM's on the same page which seems to be a problem.

I also wouldn't be opposed to a credit card hold if it made it easier to get into places.
