Most of last week I fought a low grade fever and some back pain. Sunday night my neck started to hurt. It wasn't bad enough to miss school, although by yesterday morning the back of my knee was also messed up--thought I pulled a hamstring. I worked yesterday but had to turn my entire head to talk to kids (which they thought was pretty funny) and I limped. By the end of the day my left shoulder also hurt.
Well by last night/this morning I was in agony. EVERY joint in my body doesn't just ache, they hurt! I could barely get out of bed today and I was shuffling around like an old granny, and hunched over to boot. Pain in my shoulders, back, wrists, ankles, knees, and it hurts to make a fist (actually typing is no picnic). I did NOT go in to teach today. This is a problem because my seniors are done next Friday and I need to work.
Well I got into my DR. and he says what I have is almost like infectious arthritis--whatever virus I've been fighting for 10 days is producing immune antibodies that are for some reason attacking the lining of my joints--there isn't any outward swelling but they are swollen inside, which is why my hands are all puffy as well. It may take 6-8 days to work it's way out of my system--he said I may have to take the rest of the week! (impossible BTW, unless I go in tomorrow and leave lesson plans before school). What can I do? Ibuprofen and heat (thank God we got a hot tub). No walking for exercise--he even asked me if I wanted a wheelchair as I limped out of the office! No thanks! I had to also get some blood work done to verify things and rule out anything MORE serious.
So I wasn't imagining things, and I don't remember being in pain like this for a long, long time. If you could throw some Prayers and PD my way for the rest of the week I'd appreciate it. Life is going on for the other 4 family members and I need a little strength to drive to practices, etc. and go to DD#1's last band concert tonight (she's giving up band after this year).
