I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

We took Reid to see the Avengers on Monday. He is obsessed with Superheroes right now. He knows all of their superhero names & their "real" names. Needless to say, he loved the movie! My only problem with it is that it was 2 1/2 hours long....so that meant 3 potty breaks for him. Luckily, the bathroom was right next to our theater. :lmao:
I'm glad he liked it. I'm kind of eager to see it myself, but it probably won't be until it is on DVD. It's just a shame that you can't pause the movie in a theater for those potty breaks. :lmao:

So, yes, I am going to be a bad mother & keep up my 4 year old for the race & party. Or at least I'm going to try. :lmao: Guess I won't be getting the "Mother of the Year" award. Although, I probably wasn't in the running anyway. :rotfl2: I'm sure I'll get many dirty looks for having a little one out so late. Oh well....if I can't keep my child up late at Disney, where can I? I just hope he'll actually stay up. I would love for him to see Ed cross the finish line & then enjoy the party with us.
Who cares?:confused3 It's Disney World. Stay up late, eat nothing but junk food... that's what vacation is all about.:thumbsup2 If he gets tired, I'm sure he'll crash on his own. If he doesn't get tired, he's going to be having fun. Nothing wrong with that. Or maybe I'm just a bad parent too.:confused3 :rotfl2:

Get it.....I'm "dying" to meet him? :lmao: Ok sorry....moving on.
You've been reading too many of Barry's TRs, haven't you? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Great ride!

But not as good as this one!!!

They're so cute!

I thought so too! I was so excited when we got them in the mail.

I hope that you can get on TSM! That'd be fun for you and Reid to do together! You have to get pics of Ed finishing! That's a huge deal!

Me, too! I'm hoping a fun ride like that could help keep him awake. I'm really worried about being able to get pics of Ed since this is our 1st Disney race & I don't know what to expect. I'll be so upset if I can't get a pic of him. :sad1:

Ummmm, to heck with 'em. If anyone is judging you they can take a flying leap. If letting your son watch his dad accomplish a goal that he's been working toward (especially such a healthy goal) is bad mothering, then I'm a bad mom. I'd do the exact same thing.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who would keep up their child for this. Ed never cares what anyone else thinks, so things like this don't bother him. But, since becoming a mom, I have realized how judgmental other mothers can be. And even though I shouldn't let it bother me, sometimes it does. Oh well...knowing my luck, Reid will fall asleep anyway.

Ohhhhh! A Villains party sounds amazing! I'll bet that Reid would love that!

I am soooo excited to see what it's all about! :yay: Reid is funny when it comes to the villains.....he doesn't mind watching them on the movies but he doesn't want to meet them. Except for Hades.....he is really scared of Hades. :sad2: I tried to get him to meet the Red Queen with me on his 1st trip but he refused. So, we'll see what happens!

I hope that you'll all sleep in the next day! Sounds like an amazing night!

Should be an exciting night! As for sleeping in....well, that'll depend on 2 things:

1. Reid :lmao:
and
2. How late we can sleep before we have to check out. Yep, we're headed to a new resort the next day.

I'm glad he liked it. I'm kind of eager to see it myself, but it probably won't be until it is on DVD. It's just a shame that you can't pause the movie in a theater for those potty breaks. :lmao:

I have to say that we were all eager to see it, even me. But, I'm a big geek like that. :rotfl2: We only go to the movies for the ones we REALLY want to see. And I always miss having the pause option...even for myself.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who would do this. Y'all are making me feel better. I just know so many people talk about keeping kids on their schedule even at Disney. That's just never been us. Luckily, Reid goes with the flow relatively well.

You've been reading too many of Barry's TRs, haven't you? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Yes, that's it! Let's blame it on Barry. :rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Great ride!

Indeed!

But not as good as this one!!!

So true! I love this ride! A fun coaster while getting to listen to Aerosmith?!? :cloud9:

Your race day plans sound great:thumbsup2

I haven't gotten around to buying the tickets for DH and DD if they are going to go. I'm am starting to have second thoughts about doing the 10miler and kind of just want to do the 5k. I just realized that I don't like running at night. Plus, I'm just not sure if I want to be out all night when we leave for the cruise in the morning.:confused3 If I do the 5k we can just have a nice resort day and have a good Disney dinner. I'm going to talk to DH about it tonight and make the final decision today.

I hope you get Reid to get some sleep before the party. Caitlin stopped napping early too. Maybe arounds 18 months? I am always jealous of those people who have kids who take regular naps in the afternoon.

Thanks!

That's funny...Ed doesn't like running at night either. He prefers mornings and I prefer nights. If you decide to do the 5K instead of the 10 miler, let me know. We could meet up at the beginning of the race. We could start the race off together but you could feel free to leave me in the dust. I'm sure I'm much slower than you.

I hope you get Reid to get some sleep before the party. Caitlin stopped napping early too. Maybe arounds 18 months? I am always jealous of those people who have kids who take regular naps in the afternoon.

I know...I"ve never known what it is like to have a kid who loves to take long, regular naps. :sad2: But, oh well....I'm used to it now. Although, I have to say that Reid shocked me & slept until 830 this morning! :cloud9: It was like I could hear angels singing it was so glorious! :lmao:

Love the tickets...they are too darn cute. :goodvibes

I would love to meet some Disney villians. We tried to do that at one of the Halloween Parties, but the line was always so long.

I wouldn't worry about "Mother of the Year" --there are many kids at EMH's until 2 a.m. at the MK; I see no difference here (and we used to keep our boys there until 2 a.m. when they were young!).

I just fell in love with those tickets when I saw them. I was glad they weren't plain & boring.

I would love to meet some Disney villians. We tried to do that at one of the Halloween Parties, but the line was always so long.

That's kind of what I'm hoping - that we can meet the villains at the ToT party & not worry about them during MNSSHP. I've heard so many nightmare stories about the character lines during MNSSHP. :scared1:

That really helps me to feel better! When we started planning this out, I thought everyone was going to think I was crazy for keeping Reid up or even for bring him at all to such a late event. I'm so happy that my friends here "get it" and don't think I'm crazy! :goodvibes

I hope you are able to get some pics of Ed finishing! It would be so nice for Reid to share in that moment!

I don't think you're a bad mom at all for keeping him up, that's what Disney if for, right? I intend on going with Everett until he crashes in Oct. If he's awake and in a good mood, I don't care what time it is, we'll be out riding rides! My DH gets really worried about things like schedules and getting enough sleep, but he won't be around!

I also bet that you won't have to worry about him falling asleep, I bet he'll be running circles around you and Ed at the end of the night! Its that toddler magic! ;)

Disney is the one place you can keep a child up late and not feel bad about it!
A few weeks ago devyn slept late and took a long late nap that he was even up at 2am on his own. I had to make that child go to sleep. Hopefully Reid will stay up and go to sleep with no problem.
The race and party sounds like it will be lots of fun
Villians
ooo
Lucky you to meet them
Even the tickets are nice
I hope you have a great time!!

Wasn't the Avengers AWESOME? I have a crush on Thor (and the actor who plays him). Have you seen any of the individual movies? I'd seen Captain America and Thor, but neither of the Iron Man movies or the Incredible Hulk. But I still loved it. Anyways!!

Villains Hollywood Bash! That looks like it would be a lot of fun! I don't know, I feel like maybe there'd be quite a few kids cheering their parents on. Maybe! I mean, it's a rare thing! It's no different than going to a MVMCP or MNSSHP and staying out til midnight, right?

YES! Hades is awesome!!! "Guys, Olympus... would be that way." That makes me laugh every time!

Hi Amanda!!!!!!

:scared1: I have been absent forever!!! :sad2:

Your trip is sounding great. I am so unbelievably excited to hear about the Disney Villains Hollywood Bash. :woohoo: I want LOTS of pictures and very detailed descriptions of everything!!!! :teacher: :rotfl2:

How are you????

I hope you are able to get some pics of Ed finishing! It would be so nice for Reid to share in that moment!

Me, too! I will be so bummed if we can't see him. I've been talking to Reid about the race & staying up late to watch Daddy finish. He's very excited to see Ed finish the race so I do hope he can stay up.

Thank you! And I do usually keep Reid up at the parks until we're ready to go. Sometimes, he'll fall asleep in his stroller but that was very rare on our trip last May. I don't know why it feels different for me keeping him up for this event. I guess maybe because it's not like a party. I don't know - I guess I just worry like that and thought people would think I was crazy.

Everett will be happy to have just Mommy there so he can party all night! :hyper:

I also bet that you won't have to worry about him falling asleep, I bet he'll be running circles around you and Ed at the end of the night! Its that toddler magic! ;)

Indeed! I really do hope that's the case. Ideally - I would like for him to stay up long enough for him & I to ride TSM, watch Ed cross the finish line & the 3 of us go ride Star Tours. After that, he can crash! :rotfl:

I did let him stay up tonight until 930 and he was just starting to get a little sleepy. And that was without a nap. A few weeks ago, we started watching one of our Disney movies a week. I planned it to where we'll have one to watch every week, with the last one being on the week we leave. Tonight's feature was Ratatouille. I was glad to see him stay up without falling asleep. During football season, he's been known to stay up until 11pm or so without a nap if LSU is playing a night game. So, there's hope!

Disney is the one place you can keep a child up late and not feel bad about it!

Y'all have made me feel so much better about bringing him to the race party! :goodvibes

Isn't it crazy how some of them can just go & go & go? :sad2: There's been a few occasions where Reid has woken up in the middle of the night (2am or so) and just can't go back to sleep. Maybe he'll have that kind of night for the race!

The race and party sounds like it will be lots of fun
Villians
ooo
Lucky you to meet them

I hope you have a great time!!

Thank you! I'm really excited about the party! I was like a giddy schoolgirl when I found out villains would be there. :rotfl2:

Wasn't the Avengers AWESOME? I have a crush on Thor (and the actor who plays him). Have you seen any of the individual movies? I'd seen Captain America and Thor, but neither of the Iron Man movies or the Incredible Hulk. But I still loved it. Anyways!!

OMG - it really was!! I think all of the Avengers are pretty easy on the eyes. :rolleyes1 With the exception of Hawkeye. I don't know what it is about Jeremy Renner but I just don't care for him that much. :confused3 We have seen all of the individual movies. And, I can't even blame it on Ed just wanting to see them. I'm a super geeky girl & love superheroes. Iron Man is good - the 1st one was really good, the 2nd one was ok. The Hulk (with Edward Norton) is really good. That is Ed's favorite. He was extremely disappointed that the studio let Ed Norton go & replaced him with Mark Ruffalo to play Bruce Banner. I really like Thor, too. But, I have to say that hands down Captain America was my favorite individual movie out of all of them.

Hopefully, there'll be some other kids there so I won't feel like crazy bad Mommy. :lmao: I don't know why I think people will see it differently from any of the other parties. Maybe because it lasts so much later? :confused3 I don't know - I'm just crazy. But it is what it is & Reid will be there - awake or sleep.

YES! Hades is awesome!!! "Guys, Olympus... would be that way." That makes me laugh every time!

Love it! I feel like that movie doesn't get enough love. I just think it's hilarious! And it breaks my heart that Reid really doesn't care for that movie. Hades is the one villain that does scare him. Well, Hades & Ursula. He watches all sorts of superhero movies & Harry Potter - none of that scares him.

How are you????

Hi there! I was just thinking about you today since I hadn't heard from you here lately.

Thanks...I think the trip is coming together nicely. Although, I have been making all sorts of dining changes this week. :rolleyes1

I hope to have lots of pictures from the party to show y'all in my TR! I'm so excited to see what all they have for it.

We're doing well. We are finally getting pretty settled into the house. Hopefully, things will slow down just a bit. But, after next week, Reid starts vacation bible school, then he starts swim lessons the week after that. So, June should still be pretty eventful.

How are you & Miss Willow?

BTW, for what it's worth, I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping Reid up! I mean, I seriously doubt that he will be the only kid up that late. It's Disney World - the people doing this race are going to be Disney people, and many of them are going to have little ones who are coming along! I think it will be fun for Reid - especially if you can manage to get him to sleep earlier in the evening. It's going to be great! :woohoo:

Can't wait to hear the dining details! :woohoo: You know I love those! :rotfl2:

So glad you are getting settled in. And good luck with the busy summer. Swim lessons are so fun!

We are doing really well. I think we have both come through the bumpy patch we had with the switch in preschools etc., and we are both enjoying each other and life. :thumbsup2 And we are really looking forward to cruising in 30 days!!!!!! :cool1: :rotfl2:

Thanks! Everyone here has really made me feel so much better about trying to keep him up for the race & party. :grouphug: I really hope I can get him to rest that day to stay up late that night. I'll have to put more thought into it as the trip gets closer. I don't know if I should try to get him to sleep before dinner or after. Right now, I'm thinking after. But, I don't know. :confused3 I may have to do some experiments the few weekends before the trip. :scratchin

I can't wait to get to them! :yay: This race is kind of running our first 3 days at Disney though. So, unfortunately, our 1st ADR isn't until the Monday. :sad2: But, I can't wait to see what y'all think of my choices. :goodvibes

So glad you are getting settled in. And good luck with the busy summer. Swim lessons are so fun!

Thanks! Me, too! This will be Reid's 1st year doing swimming lessons. I'm anxious to see how he does with them. I always say that it's fitting that he was born under the Pisces sign because he has always loved water! He's the only child I know who literally begs for bath time. And he loves to stick his face in the water.

Hmm, I don't know what would work better either! Some experiments may indeed be in order. :rotfl2: Whatever you decide to do, it will work out - you'll be at WDW, having a blast, and everything works out under those circumstances! :thumbsup2

Gah - I don't know how much longer I can wait!!!! I have NO ADRs to plan anytime in the near future. I need to hear about someone's plans/choices/dilemmas! :rotfl2:

Oh, he is going to have a blast! :woohoo: Willow did some swim lessons at about 3 years old, I think. At first, she wasn't too keen on the face in the water thing, but I got her some goggles, and since then, she has been ALL about jumping in, face in the water, etc. With or without the goggles! :rotfl:

I'm so glad to hear that y'all are well. I can't wait to hear all about the cruise! :cool1:
Thanks! I can't believe it's so close! :woohoo:

You're so right! I think I may do a few sleep experiments on the weekends leading up to our trip. College football will have started back, so I can see how late he can stay up watching games with us (without a nap, nap after lunch, nap after dinner).

Gah - I don't know how much longer I can wait!!!! I have NO ADRs to plan anytime in the near future. I need to hear about someone's plans/choices/dilemmas! :rotfl2:

I think he will! We took him on his 1st beach vacation when he was 15 months. When he saw the water, he completely took off from us, headed straight into the water! :scared1:

:lmao: Oh how funny about the potty breaks!!! That would be me as well, Reid!! :lmao: I'm glad you enjoyed the Avengers! I haven't seen it, but my mom has, and she said she really liked it.

I love your plans, and no you will not be a bad mom keeping Reid up! It's Disney, and a super fun and cool night!! I would love to do that! The villians are awesome, and that would be so cool to meet them all!

I can't wait to hear about your DH's race experience, and the bash! :thumbsup2

What a fun evening you have planned. The Villian bash should be tons of fun. You all are going to have such a fun night.:goodvibes

I can't lie - the 2nd time he said he had to go to the potty, I was secretly happy. I thought my bladder was going to burst! :lmao:

It is a really great movie. Definitely worth seeing in the theater!

Thank you! I really hope it'll be fun & that Reid will stay up for at least a few rides & to see Ed finish.

I can't wait to find out what all villains are there! :hyper:

I can't wait to hear about your DH's race experience, and the bash! :thumbsup2

He's really excited to see what a Disney race is like. And the medal is super cool, so I know he's excited to get that as well.

What a fun evening you have planned. The Villian bash should be tons of fun. You all are going to have such a fun night.:goodvibes

Thanks! I hope it will be a fun Disney night that'll be something a little different from our usual Disney activities.

Now that Reid knows that his daddy is racing, I think he'll be too excited to sleep. I was worried about DS's sleeping habits when he went. He took a few naps during the day and stayed up to watch MSEP and Illuminations and we even kept him out until midnight when Epcot had EMH. I know, what horrible parents:rotfl:. Granted DS was only 4 months and Reid is 4 years, I know there's a difference, just wishful thinking.pixiedust:

DS is the same way with water, he loves bathtime, especially since he discovered how to splash. I can't wait to see how he does in one of the swimming pools.

I'm also starting to do one Disney movie a week, starting with Beauty and the Beast.

I do hope I can hype him up about the race & party enough to help keep him awake. I am truly happy to know everyone here would do the same in keeping their child up for this event. Even if there is someone out who thinks we're all bad parents for doing so - well then, at least I have great company! :thumbsup2

I bet he'll have so much fun in the swimming pools! I've always called Reid my "little water baby". The child is just drawn to water.

I'm also starting to do one Disney movie a week, starting with Beauty and the Beast.

I love having our weekly Disney movie night! So fun to cuddle on the couch all together & watch a good movie. I'm so OCD though - I made a list of the order we'll watch the movies in: from least favorite to most favorite. I know...I have issues. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:
