I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

Welcome back Amanda! Glad you're getting all settled, and yay for the fridge delivery today!!! Stress? Stress moving into a new home...nah :rotfl2:

Missed ya!!! A massage sounds lovely ::yes::

Oh a massage! Your guys did good!

I'm glad you are moved in and life is settling down a bit.:thumbsup2

Welcome back Amanda! Glad you're getting all settled, and yay for the fridge delivery today!!! Stress? Stress moving into a new home...nah :rotfl2:

Thanks! Yes, our new fridge is all snuggled up in its' new little home. Now, I need to go buy it some food tomorrow to make it feel useful. :rotfl:

Stress? Nah, hardly any stress here! :lmao: On top of closing on the house, moving & trying to get settled in.....my dad called me today & informed me that he is coming into town to visit. I knew it was a possibility but hadn't heard from him so I wasn't sure. I had told him that was fine but we have a lot going on & I definitely couldn't visit on Thursday. He leaves me a voicemail tonight saying to text him directions to our new house & that he'll be here on Thursday. :furious:

Missed ya!!! A massage sounds lovely ::yes::

Awww, thanks! I missed y'all too! I hate not having DIS time. I really wanted to do an update tonight but time slipped away from me....yet again. I promise one is coming soon. I think I'll really need that massage after this weekend. :headache:

Oh a massage! Your guys did good!

They did good indeed! I actually could care less whether or not they give me a gift but it was so sweet of them. :goodvibes

I'm glad you are moved in and life is settling down a bit.:thumbsup2

Thanks! Every time I think life is about to slow down a bit, something else rolls my way. But, it's all good! Come the end of next week, things should really start slowing down.

Congrats on the house! Moving is always so excited, but so stressful! How sweet of your husband to get you a massage! :thumbsup2

Thank you! It has been rather stressful. And just when I thought things would start slowing down, I've had more stuff roll my way this week. Oh well, hopefully, just another couple of weeks of craziness & then things will get back to normal.

It was really sweet of Ed to do that for me. I can't wait to use it!

I hope things slow down a bit for you. When it rains it pours....but then sometimes you get a beautiful rainbow :goodvibes

And, most importantly, I just want to go ahead & say "Thank you" to everyone who joins in for all of the planning fun! And if there are any lurkers, please feel to free to say "Hi!".

I'm a lurker, I was drawn in by the title. :goodvibes I wanted to see if there were some tips on getting your husband involved in planing. I just wanted to say Hi real quick because I still have to read through everything else you posted. If anyone has any tips let me know. :listen: I'm still a newbie at planning Disney trips.

I have a Bree too! And amanda is a great help in planning, ADRs etc. welcome out of lurker status :thumbsup2 Have you checked out the BWI thread??? Another lovely hostess there as well :goodvibes

Hi Everybody!

First....to all the mommies here.....I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

We had a normal but nice day. I got some new barstools for the house & put those together. I'm really happy with them. And Ed & Reid gave me a stress fix massage at a local spa. Guess Ed thinks I've been a bit stressed with the house & all. :rotfl:

Just wanted to thank everyone again for being so understanding & patient with my lack of updates. I'm trying to get caught up on the DIS this morning. And hopefully I'll be able to do some sort of update tonight for y'all!

Sounds like things are moving along. :goodvibes

Way to go Reid and Ed on the gift (Andy, our oldest, gave me a gift certificate for an 80 minute massage :thumbsup2)

HI! I'm so happy you've joined in! I think the key to getting any non-Disney-loving person excited about a Disney trip is to find something that interests them that isn't necessarily "Disney". For my DH, it's running a race. Including one of his interests in our upcoming trip has definitely helped his excitement level. That and we just really need a vacation right now! :lmao:

Awww, you're too kind! :goodvibes I agree - that BWI thread is fantastic!

Thanks! Things are definitely moving! Sometimes, I wish they'd slow down a bit. :rotfl:

How nice of Andy to give you the massage gift card. I know I am really looking forward to using mine!

How lovely! A spa surprise!! ;) Love it!!! You definitely deserve it! :thumbsup2

Awww, thank you! :goodvibes It was truly a surprise....so thoughtful & much appreciated.

How's the house going! Still living out of
boxes? Or are you one of those organized people I've read about?

How's the house going! Still living out of
boxes? Or are you one of those organized people I've read about?

I am usually one of those organized people! :rotfl2:

I don't know what it is about this move but I've just haven't been my normal moving self. Trust me - this isn't my 1st time at the rodeo. This is our 8th move & I ALWAYS have us unpacked & the house decorated within a week. Not this time! :sad2: I think it's because we've had to get a lot of new things for this house & that's kind of held up my unpacking & decorating. Hopefully, it'll all come together soon. I have a huge list of things that we must get done this week since we have family coming to visit this weekend. Let's hope it all happens! pixiedust:

Hi Everybody! I hope there's at least a few of y'all still out there for this PTR! So sorry I've been lacking in the Disney trip updates. Life has just been crazy busy! We have not stopped one bit over the last month. Every day, every night is filled. But, I am feeling like junk tonight & decided to give us the night off. :rotfl: So now that I have caught up on all of my other threads, here is an actual trip update for you good people. Enjoy!

I last left off giving the details of Friday, Sept. 28th. On to Saturday, September 29th!

We will have to wake up very early this day. I am thinking like 5 am or so. We will eat breakfast in our room. I plan on bringing things from home like poptarts, nutrigrain bars, etc. so that we can do breakfast on the go some days.

Once we have breakfast in our tummies & we're all dressed, we will head out to catch a bus. Since POFQ is a race sponsor resort, they will have buses going directly to Wide World of Sports. I told Ed that him & Reid could just sleep in but he is insistent that they go to the race to cheer me on. My guys are the best! :goodvibes

I'm thinking that I'll have to be at WWoS no later than 7am. The race will start at 730am. And, hopefully, I'll finish it without completely collapsing! :lmao: Of course, with all of the craziness going on over here, I have not been doing my C25K program. :sad2: But, I have every intention of getting back into it come next week! My goal is really just to be able to run the entire thing. They don't time the 5K race, so I'll keep my own time.

I am really looking forward to crossing the finish line & getting my medal. :hyper: And then, I'll reunite with my boys......and probably hand over my medal to Reid. :rotfl2:

Once I'm done with the race, I pretty much want to head back to POFQ right away. I will want to get showered & freshened up. I may even see if Ed will occupy Reid for a bit so I can take a quick nap. :cloud9:

For lunch, we will check out the food court at POFQ. We still won't be on the DDP yet, so this will be another OOP meal. I am quite interested to try out the food courts at POR & POFQ since they have some "cajun" selections. I'll let y'all know how close they come to the real thing! :thumbsup2

Now, after lunch I plan on heading back to the room. We'll rest for a little bit & then Reid & I will get into our swimsuits. Hopefully, the weather will be cooperating. I want Reid & I to have some pool time & maybe even some playground time. I have 2 objectives with this:

1. Let Ed have quiet time to rest or nap in order to prepare for his race that night.

and

2. Wear Reid O-U-T! :rotfl2:

Ed definitely needs to rest up for his race that night. Especially since we will be up early that day. But, I am also really hoping that I can get Reid to nap after dinner. Yes, I know it sounds weird to say I want my 4 year old to nap after dinner. But, I'll explain why in the next update. The thing is that Reid has never been one to sleep much. Not even as an infant.

When I was pregnant with Reid, people loved to tell me how babies just love to eat, sleep & poop. Well, mine definitely loved to eat....and poop. But sleep? Yeah, not so much! :headache: And he gave up naps around 18 months. So, I know that I'm going to have run him ragged around that resort if I am to get him to sleep that evening.

Once I feel like he's pretty close to being tuckered out, we will head back to the room. I will get us cleaned up & then I'll wake up Ed.

I know this update wasn't the most exciting. The 1st few days of our trip are pretty much about the races, so there's not too much scheduled. I promise things will pick up!

Yay for an update! I'm sorry that you're not feeling well, but I'm glad you've given everyone a night off.

That's nice that the boys want to come cheer you on, very sweet of them! I giggled when you said that you'd be giving Reed your medal. Sounds exactly right :rotfl:

We thought that the Food Court was ok at POFQ, but we didn't try any of the cajun fare. I hope that you won't be disappointed, but I suspect that you might ;)

An afternoon at the pool wears me for sure (always has, even when I was a kid) so maybe that and the playground will be the magic combo for Reed.

I am so sorry that he's not a sleeper! I don't know what I'd do if Maddie wasn't a good sleeper. She took naps until she was 4 :lovestruc and I can usually still convince her to have some "quiet time" in the afternoons if she (we) are getting a little grumpy. We usually cuddle in my bed and watch Disney Jr. She zones out and I get a little nap. Heaven.

Will Ed's race be that evening? He gets extra points for getting up to watch you run then!

Can't wait to hear more!

Hope that you're feeling more settled in the house! We bought the appliances and arranged delivery this weekend. We also got the stuff for Maddie's bathroom as well as the master. Started looking at furniture and such, but we both agree that we need to live in the house for a while before we decide what we want. I am just ready to be in the house. Can't wait.

I'm glad that things are coming together at your new house. Don't stress to much about the unpacking and decorating, it will get done! :thumbsup2

You guys are going to have a very busy second day at Disney! I bet the combo of getting up early and lots of pool time will wear Reid out, we'll keep our fingers crossed. It will also be nice to spend some time just enjoying the resort. That is something I don't feel like I do enough.

Hopefully things will come together in the new house soon so you can take a step back and relax.

The race day strategy looks very good. I hope Reid decides to go along with your plans and get some sleep after dinner. Maybe being up at 5 and having a full day planned will help wear him out.:confused3

Your race day sounds busy but fun!

I understand about kids not sleeping. My son gave up naps EARLY, I'm thinking he may not have even been 18 months yet. Now he refuses to go to bed until my husband and I do which is around 10, then he wakes up as soon as I do! My daughter is a little better, she will still take the occasional nap and she sleeps in a little later usually.

I think the pool/playground is a good idea to wear Reid out. It would work for me! I am trying to do the same thing with my kids the night we have the pirate cruise.

I'm glad things are beginning to settle down. Moving is so stressful, we have moved several times in the past 5 years so I understand. We are in full countdown mode now as we leave for Disney on Friday! :dance3:

:yay:No worries amanda...we are still here. :goodvibes And don't worry about te C25K...you're super duper busy! That's one busy day you'll have for race day...you should definitely plan a nap and then swap shifts and let Ed nap! I think letting Reid swim will keep him super happy and tire him out a bit :)

And IMO any WDW planning is super exciting :banana::banana:

Yay for an update! I'm sorry that you're not feeling well, but I'm glad you've given everyone a night off.

Thanks! We enjoyed our night off. I got some much needed rest & am feeling a bit better today. Reid even slept the entire night in his bed which rarely happens!

That's nice that the boys want to come cheer you on, very sweet of them! I giggled when you said that you'd be giving Reed your medal. Sounds exactly right :rotfl:

It will be nice to have them there for sure! Yeah, I'm not even trying to kid myself about who will be keeping the medal.

We thought that the Food Court was ok at POFQ, but we didn't try any of the cajun fare. I hope that you won't be disappointed, but I suspect that you might ;)

Oh yeah, I have a feeling I'll be disappointed in their cajun dishes. We always get a kick out of eating "cajun" food when we're not in Louisiana. I usually wouldn't be doing so many food court meals but with the races ruling our 1st couple of days, I kind of wanted to stay at the resort.

An afternoon at the pool wears me for sure (always has, even when I was a kid) so maybe that and the playground will be the magic combo for Reed.

I'm hoping it'll do the trick for him! The water does normally tucker him out pretty well.

Heaven.

How great that Maddie still naps! I wouldn't know what to do with myself. :rotfl: Every blue moon I can talk Reid into quiet time. We cuddle into my bed & watch a movie. Well, he watches & I sleep. :rolleyes1

Will Ed's race be that evening? He gets extra points for getting up to watch you run then!

Yes, his race doesn't start until 10pm. :scared1: I tried to talk him into staying at the resort that morning. But, as he pointed out, Reid will be awake anyway so it's not like he could sleep.

Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks! I should be able to get back to doing my regular weekly updates now.

Can't wait.

We're getting there.....just at a slower pace than I would like. How exciting that y'all are getting stuff for the house! Y'all haven't closed yet though, right? I think that is a good idea to purchase the furniture once you're in the house. That's what we did. Of course, now I'm anxious for Bassett to make & deliver it already!

I'm glad that things are coming together at your new house. Don't stress to much about the unpacking and decorating, it will get done! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I feel like we've been in "moving mode" for forever now. I'm just ready for it to be completely over. But, we're not too far from having everything done.

You guys are going to have a very busy second day at Disney! I bet the combo of getting up early and lots of pool time will wear Reid out, we'll keep our fingers crossed. It will also be nice to spend some time just enjoying the resort. That is something I don't feel like I do enough.

Yes, please keep your fingers.....and toes crossed....tightly! :lmao: I do think the pool will wear him out. Water seems to be the one thing that will always tucker that boy out. I know I'll be worn out! It will be nice to have free time to explore POFQ especially since we'll only be there for 2 nights. I never get us down time at our resorts & I really should start doing that more. I can promise you that after our first 2 days there, there is no down time!

Hopefully things will come together in the new house soon so you can take a step back and relax.

I sure hope so! I think having family come in this weekend is just adding stress to the situation. If I didn't have to host a family dinner on Sunday night (and possibly Saturday too) I wouldn't feel as stressed about the state of the house.

The race day strategy looks very good. I hope Reid decides to go along with your plans and get some sleep after dinner. Maybe being up at 5 and having a full day planned will help wear him out.:confused3

Thanks! I hope he sleeps. It is unreal how much it takes to wear that boy out. He amazes me sometimes with how much he can go, go, go. On their last day of school, they had a party with all sorts of fun jumps. After about an hour of jumping, he layed on the floor of the hall to take a quick break. His teachers couldn't believe that he was showing signs of slowing down. :rotfl2:

Your race day sounds busy but fun!
Thanks! I knew we'd have to have some plans to occupy Reid that day. If it were just me & Ed, we would spend the whole day doing nothing. But, that doesn't fly with a 4 year old. Hopefully, it'll be enough to keep him busy & happy.

You can really feel my pain, huh? The one thing I will give Reid is that he does go to bed pretty well. He goes to bed between 730 & 8 every night. The only time I have trouble with him is if, by some miracle, he took a nap that day. So, that's rarely an issue. :lmao: Reid wakes up early, too! He gets up with Ed when he's getting ready for work (like 530, 6am). I'm like, "Could you please sleep in?!? You aren't in school yet! You & Mommy can sleep!" :headache: But, he never takes my advice.

I think the pool/playground is a good idea to wear Reid out. It would work for me! I am trying to do the same thing with my kids the night we have the pirate cruise.

Oh, I know it'll work for me....let's just hope it works for Reid! :lmao: I do think it will but you just never know. That's true.....the pirate cruise is late too, right? I had thought about doing that during our trip.

I'm glad things are beginning to settle down. Moving is so stressful, we have moved several times in the past 5 years so I understand.

Thanks! Moving is stressful, right?!? I wish I could fast forward a couple of months so that everything would be settled. We will really need this vacation by the time it gets here.

We are in full countdown mode now as we leave for Disney on Friday! :dance3:

I just noticed that on your ticker! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
I know you have to be excited! Will you be doing a TR when y'all return?
