QUICK STORM UPDATE:
This is a very slow moving storm. Luckily, we have stayed on the west side of the storm so our weather hasn't been too bad so far. Lots of wind & a little rain. I do keep waiting for my front door to be blown off its' hinges.
Looks like the worst stuff will now get to us this afternoon & tomorrow.
I do wish my mom & step-dad had listened to me & come stayed with us. They only live about an hour & a half from us. But, the storm is basically passing between us. That's puts us on the west side of the storm & them on the east side (the bad side). They're faring ok - lost power for a bit but it's back on. But, they have had 2 trees in their backyard fall already. One fell into the middle of the yard thankfully. The other fell onto their brand new pergola. My step-dad went out into the storm & pulled it off, so hopefully they won't have any damage.
There are many people in LA, MS & even AL in much worse shape than my family right now. The coasts & low-lying areas have gotten hammered. In Plaquemines Parish (in LA), the levees have been topped and many homes are almost completely under water. If any of y'all are the praying type, please say prayers for everyone being really affected by this storm. Thank you!
Stay safe, and I hope the storm is over and done with quickly and leaves no damage in its wake!
Thank you!! This has been one of the slowest moving storms I've ever been through.
I was living in Pensacola during Ivan, and that is not something I'd ever want to repeat, especially with kids!
Oh boy - I remember Ivan! That was one crazy storm. We were living outside of Atlanta at the time & were about to make our move back to Louisiana. Ed drove down to LA right after Ivan went through & we were so worried about whether or not he would even be able to get gas.
I think your last day plans sound great! When I saw that you were going to AK, I say "Yay!" in my head, then I read your next sentence.

Maybe this will be the trip you will fall under AK's spell! I am so bummed that we're not going to make it there this trip. The funny thing is that I always like to make AK our last day, and this time we're doing MK. I think we need to switch itineraries.

That's funny about our itineraries! We should definitely switch!
I'm always scared to tell AK lovers that I don't like it. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings about the park they love. I do think it's very well-themed. It just doesn't hold any of our interests.
I think you guys are going to love Tusker House for breakfast! We had a great time there in Dec, and maybe you guys will have the privilege of sitting at the same table that both Shannon and I did!
I'll tell them that I need the "DIS table"!

I'm excited that we're going to give it a try.
lol I love it Batten down the hatches!

Stay safe!
Thanks!! I could write a book full of the stuff that boy tells me.
How is the storm? I hope y'all are okay.
I think your AK day sounds really nice - a little relaxing, which you will need!
So far, so good with the storm. The radar shows the real nasty stuff headed our way. But, I feel confident that we'll be ok.
Thanks. It will be nice to not be rushing around on our last day. And I won't feel like we need to pick up the pace.
OOPS! That's my fault huh?

Sorry everyone! But, try it-you won't regret it!!!
It's all your fault, missy!!

No really, I"m happy that I changed our ADR to there. I think it will work out well & we'll get to see what it's all about. I'll eat breakfast at Kona another year.
I really think that you guys will love Tusker House! It was far and away the best breakfast that we had. (See I feel so bad that you had to switch that I just gave away the ending of my TR!

)

No need to feel bad! I was just so impressed by your review that it made me want to check it out. I was just happy to get a decent ADR time.
AK is our least favorite too. It's pretty, but not too exciting to me.
Yay! Someone in my corner!
Reid is so brave! I hope that the Dinosaur issue works out well.
Well, we'll see how brave he is when it comes time to ride.
Stay safe--I've been thinking about you guys. Love that Pirate Reid is taking charge of things though.
Thank you!! Oh yes, Pirate Reid is ready for the real nastiness of the storm to hit us. He told me, "Mommy, if the power goes out, you can count on me." Now, I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to count on him for but I appreciated his offer.
