I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

I've not understood the lack of love for AK. :sad2: We love that park. You should take Reid to Rafiki's Planet and try to do in the a.m. in case they are doing work on one of the animals...he might get a kick out of that. And he can go pet and brush the goats too.

Plans sound great. I keep reading about Tusker House too, but I couldn't snag an ADR by the time I decided to finally try it (so we're doing Kona instead :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

Stay safe my friend with the weather you are getting.

Stay safe Amanda!!!! We're battening down the hatches here as well! More worried about the wind since were on the 3rd floor than flooding.

"Batten Down the Hatches" Oh Reid - that is so cute. :rotfl:

In all seriousness, I really hope Isaac does not present much of a problem for you. I was in Disney World during Katrina and it left a big impression on me. I don't know the details of Isaac, but I get the impression it should not be nearly as bad.

Hey - at least you updated early.

I have always wanted to do a TH breakfast. I have done lunch there and its really good. I hope you enjoy.

I love AK because I love all the details and its a photographer's dream. But, yeah, little kids never have much of an attention span for animals. That comes later.

I think you will love Tusker House! The food is great & the characters are really cute.

I'm excited to give it a try. Not long after I had Shannon's review & changed our ADR to be there, you had also posted your review. I think reading both of y'alls great TH reviews has me actually happy I made the change.

We don't stress about rope drop at AK either. It is our go with the flow day. I really love AK though. It is so pretty, I would love to go one day by myself & just take pictures.

Yes, if I could go there by myself & just take pics all day, I would love it a lot more. :lmao:

Hmmm Dinosaur :scratchin. It is LOUD & I think it's terrifying! But I also believe in letting kids try things...so it's a tough one! Maybe look it up on YouTube?

I showed him the video of if on YouTube and he still says he wants to ride it. So, we'll see. Who knows...by the end of the trip he may be done with trying new rides. :confused3

I hope you don't have any trouble from Isaac. I'm thinking of you & everyone in the area. I did laugh at "Pirate Reid." So cute even though not a cute situation.

I'm not gonna lie - Ed & I both cracked up laughing when he told us that.

Thanks! I'm just ready for Isaac to get here, do his thing & leave. I hate the build up to the storm. :sad2:

Stay safe! Hopefully this storm isn't too bad for you. I've got to admit though, we've needed a tropical storm or hurricane from the Gulf all summer to move up here and break us out of this drought.:sad2:

Thanks! That is the only good thing about the storm - hopefully it will carry rain to other areas that really need it.

I hope you enjoy the Tusker House breakfast. It is definitely on my short list of places to try also. One of these days I'm sure we'll make it happen.

I had never given much thought to TH. But, after reading a few really good reviews, it really bumped its' way up my "to try" list.

Good luck with Reid and the Dinosaur situation. I'd hate to keep him off of it if he really does want to go, but then again, if you know he's going to be terrified, that really isn't fair to him either.:confused3

Thanks. It's really hard as they get to this age where they're just big enough to try some rides. You don't want to scare them away from trying new things but I know I'll feel bad if he's terrified too. Oh well....we'll see what happens.

Ack! I hope Isaac is kind to yall and your surrounding areas. So sorry you're having to deal with this. :(

Thank you!!

ANIMAL KINGDOM!!!! Who knows, maybe you'll learn to love it this trip?! (Long shot, I know.)

I'm going to try to love....just for you. But, I make no promises. :lmao:

I've always wanted to try Tusker house (breakfast), but after reading Shannon's review it has been bumped up even higher on the list!

Her review was great, right?!? I hadn't really given it much thought before that review. So see, this ADR change was all her fault. :rotfl2:

Yeah, Dinosaur can definitely be overwhelming. Hopefully he'll like it if you do end up riding!

It really can be....I don't even care for it that much. Maybe he'll forget about it.

I always feel bad saying that we don't love AK because I know so many people do. I forgot about Rafiki's Planet....we didn't do that last year so that may be something fun for Reid. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Plans sound great. I keep reading about Tusker House too, but I couldn't snag an ADR by the time I decided to finally try it (so we're doing Kona instead :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

I will get to Kona for breakfast one day! It will be at the top of my list for next year.

Stay safe my friend with the weather you are getting.

Thank you very much!

Stay safe Amanda!!!! We're battening down the hatches here as well! More worried about the wind since were on the 3rd floor than flooding.

You, too! I'm glad you're battening down the hatches! :rotfl: I'm worried about the wind, too. And our street floods pretty easily, so I'm a little worried about that. Luckily, our lot is graded right & drains pretty well, so that should help.

"Batten Down the Hatches" Oh Reid - that is so cute. :rotfl:

He's such a mess! Definitely keeps me entertained. :lmao:

In all seriousness, I really hope Isaac does not present much of a problem for you. I was in Disney World during Katrina and it left a big impression on me. I don't know the details of Isaac, but I get the impression it should not be nearly as bad.

Thank you! Isaac definitely won't be as bad as Katrina. Isaac should only be a Cat 1 Hurricane when it makes landfall, Katrina was a 5. :scared: Katrina was quite the experience to live through. As was Gustav in 2008, it was a Cat 4 & really did a lot of damage to the area where we lived at the time. It was so scary going through that with a 5 1/2 month old baby. :sad2: So, comparatively speaking, Isaac shouldn't be too bad for us. But, you just never know what these storms will bring.

Hey - at least you updated early.

Indeed! :thumbsup2

I have always wanted to do a TH breakfast. I have done lunch there and its really good. I hope you enjoy.

I'm really happy that I made the switch to TH.

I love AK because I love all the details and its a photographer's dream. But, yeah, little kids never have much of an attention span for animals. That comes later.

Yeah, Reid definitely gets bored quick in AK. I do think if I could go to AK by myself with just my camera, I would enjoy it a lot more.

Stay safe, and I hope the storm is over and done with quickly and leaves no damage in its wake!

I was living in Pensacola during Ivan, and that is not something I'd ever want to repeat, especially with kids! :sad2:

I think your last day plans sound great! When I saw that you were going to AK, I say "Yay!" in my head, then I read your next sentence. :rotfl2: Maybe this will be the trip you will fall under AK's spell! I am so bummed that we're not going to make it there this trip. The funny thing is that I always like to make AK our last day, and this time we're doing MK. I think we need to switch itineraries. :rotfl:

I think you guys are going to love Tusker House for breakfast! We had a great time there in Dec, and maybe you guys will have the privilege of sitting at the same table that both Shannon and I did! :lmao:

lol I love it Batten down the hatches! :lmao: Stay safe!

How is the storm? I hope y'all are okay.

I think your AK day sounds really nice - a little relaxing, which you will need! :thumbsup2

OOPS! That's my fault huh? :wave2: Sorry everyone! But, try it-you won't regret it!!!:thumbsup2

I really think that you guys will love Tusker House! It was far and away the best breakfast that we had. (See I feel so bad that you had to switch that I just gave away the ending of my TR! :rotfl:)

AK is our least favorite too. It's pretty, but not too exciting to me.

Reid is so brave! I hope that the Dinosaur issue works out well.

Stay safe--I've been thinking about you guys. Love that Pirate Reid is taking charge of things though.pirate:

QUICK STORM UPDATE:

This is a very slow moving storm. Luckily, we have stayed on the west side of the storm so our weather hasn't been too bad so far. Lots of wind & a little rain. I do keep waiting for my front door to be blown off its' hinges. :rotfl2: Looks like the worst stuff will now get to us this afternoon & tomorrow.

I do wish my mom & step-dad had listened to me & come stayed with us. They only live about an hour & a half from us. But, the storm is basically passing between us. That's puts us on the west side of the storm & them on the east side (the bad side). They're faring ok - lost power for a bit but it's back on. But, they have had 2 trees in their backyard fall already. One fell into the middle of the yard thankfully. The other fell onto their brand new pergola. My step-dad went out into the storm & pulled it off, so hopefully they won't have any damage.

There are many people in LA, MS & even AL in much worse shape than my family right now. The coasts & low-lying areas have gotten hammered. In Plaquemines Parish (in LA), the levees have been topped and many homes are almost completely under water. If any of y'all are the praying type, please say prayers for everyone being really affected by this storm. Thank you! :goodvibes

Stay safe, and I hope the storm is over and done with quickly and leaves no damage in its wake!

Thank you!! This has been one of the slowest moving storms I've ever been through.

I was living in Pensacola during Ivan, and that is not something I'd ever want to repeat, especially with kids! :sad2:

Oh boy - I remember Ivan! That was one crazy storm. We were living outside of Atlanta at the time & were about to make our move back to Louisiana. Ed drove down to LA right after Ivan went through & we were so worried about whether or not he would even be able to get gas.

:rotfl:

:lmao: That's funny about our itineraries! We should definitely switch!

I'm always scared to tell AK lovers that I don't like it. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings about the park they love. I do think it's very well-themed. It just doesn't hold any of our interests.

I think you guys are going to love Tusker House for breakfast! We had a great time there in Dec, and maybe you guys will have the privilege of sitting at the same table that both Shannon and I did! :lmao:

I'll tell them that I need the "DIS table"! :rotfl: I'm excited that we're going to give it a try.

lol I love it Batten down the hatches! :lmao: Stay safe!

Thanks!! I could write a book full of the stuff that boy tells me. :rotfl:

How is the storm? I hope y'all are okay.

I think your AK day sounds really nice - a little relaxing, which you will need! :thumbsup2

So far, so good with the storm. The radar shows the real nasty stuff headed our way. But, I feel confident that we'll be ok.

Thanks. It will be nice to not be rushing around on our last day. And I won't feel like we need to pick up the pace.

OOPS! That's my fault huh? :wave2: Sorry everyone! But, try it-you won't regret it!!!:thumbsup2

It's all your fault, missy!! :lmao: No really, I"m happy that I changed our ADR to there. I think it will work out well & we'll get to see what it's all about. I'll eat breakfast at Kona another year.

I really think that you guys will love Tusker House! It was far and away the best breakfast that we had. (See I feel so bad that you had to switch that I just gave away the ending of my TR! :rotfl:)

:rotfl: No need to feel bad! I was just so impressed by your review that it made me want to check it out. I was just happy to get a decent ADR time. :thumbsup2

AK is our least favorite too. It's pretty, but not too exciting to me.

Yay! Someone in my corner! :rotfl2:

Reid is so brave! I hope that the Dinosaur issue works out well.

Well, we'll see how brave he is when it comes time to ride. :lmao:

Stay safe--I've been thinking about you guys. Love that Pirate Reid is taking charge of things though.pirate:

Thank you!! Oh yes, Pirate Reid is ready for the real nastiness of the storm to hit us. He told me, "Mommy, if the power goes out, you can count on me." Now, I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to count on him for but I appreciated his offer. :rotfl2:

Hope you stay safe and dry!

As for AK... I am one who loves it and loves Tusker. My only complaint about tusker is that they don't give you the photo with the meal... but bring the printed package out to you to buy. :headache: Then I hate that if you don't...what? They just throw it away? Oh well... food is good and I like to be in any park for breakfast before opening....

Looks like a nice day planned!

AK is my least favorite park too. Last time we didn't even make it there. This time it is on our agenda with the plan that if we would rather go to another park instead, we'll skip it.

october 6 we will be heading home in the morning. :(

Really happy to see a "we're safe" update. I hope things are still going well.

Been thinking about you all day and so grateful you updated. I will be keeping you and your folks and all of those affected by this in my prayers.

Glad to see an update on your family. That's really scary about the trees in your mom & step-dad's yard. I hope you all continue to stay safe with minimal damage.

I agree with you that by the end of the trip Reid may not feel like trying any new rides. If he insists I would let him try it. At least it's the end of the trip so if he hates it you won't have to worry about him not trying any other rides.

Glad to see that the storm hasn't hit you hard and hope it stays that way. Also, hoping your Mom and Step-Dad don't get any further damage. Prayers being sent for you, your family and all those being affected by the storm :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone who is thinking of and/or saying prayers for everyone being affected by Isaac.

We are truly blessed to have been on the west side of the storm. It got very, very windy here and rainy. But, it wasn't horrible. My only concern was the stop sign/street sign in the corner of my front yard. It was whipping around like crazy last night & it isn't that far from the front corner of my house where my dining room is and there is about an 8-9 foot tall window there. But, luckily, it stayed in place.

My mom & step-dad have been out of power since about 1pm yesterday. They do have their generator going & they have a window A/C unit. But, I'm trying to convince her to come this way if the power doesn't come on soon. My friend that made my Wendy dress has also been without power since yesterday morning. I've also offered my house to her. Many other friends of ours who were on the east side of the storm don't have power. But, they are all ok & don't have flooding....which is most important.

They had to do late night evacuations in a city outside of New Orleans. And they're about to do more in LA & MS (I think) because there is a dam in MS that is about to fail & cause more flooding. I feel so bad for all the people losing their homes. I just can't even imagine.

Hope you stay safe and dry!

Thanks! I agree with you about the photo at Tusker House. I feel the same way about Chef Mickey's.

AK is my least favorite park too. Last time we didn't even make it there. This time it is on our agenda with the plan that if we would rather go to another park instead, we'll skip it.

october 6 we will be heading home in the morning. :(

When we go on short trips, we usually skip AK. But on our longer trips, we do at least a half day there.

Originally we were going to be leaving on this day, too. But through some early changes, I was able to squeeze in one more day.

Really happy to see a "we're safe" update. I hope things are still going well.

Thank you!!

Been thinking about you all day and so grateful you updated. I will be keeping you and your folks and all of those affected by this in my prayers.

Thank you so much!!

So true...if he freaks out on Dinosaur at least it won't ruin any more of the trip. :lmao:

Glad to see that the storm hasn't hit you hard and hope it stays that way. Also, hoping your Mom and Step-Dad don't get any further damage. Prayers being sent for you, your family and all those being affected by the storm :goodvibes

Thank you very much!!

So relieved to see another safe update from you!

I am following along as much as possible on the news (haven't been near a TV since this morning, so I am a bit behind at this point).

Stay safe!

So glad yall are all okay, as well as your home. It always breaks my heart to see what natural disasters can do. I've been praying!

So glad you, Ed & Reid are ok  Hope your mom gets power back soon..

And Tusker House breakfast rocks :cool1:
