I feel so helpless...

My horse is dying...we spent 2 hours looking for her this morning - finally found her hung up in the fence by the neighbors house. We have some tall sagebush so she wasn't easily visable. My elderly parents helped my get her out and get her up - she had been stuck lying down. She made it about halfway to the barn and laid down again. It's obvious she's colicky and had been prior to getting stuck in the fence. I have had horses long enough to know that there's really no hope at this point. The vet is supposed to be her before noon and I'm pretty sure I'll just have to have her put to sleep.

I'm not even sure she'll last til the vet gets here. I just can't stand to sit out there with her and see her suffering. I told her how great she is and how much I loved her. That's it's o.k. to go...that her old buddy Apache will be waiting for her... It's just so sad...there's nothing I can do to help her pain.. :sad1:

So send a little pixie dust and some prayers for my Tony...at this point I just wish she'd pass quickly...

Oh my goodness..
Sending lots and lots of hugs and prayers - to all of you.

Sending positive thoughts and lots of hugs.

Don't you at least have some Banamine???? Please don't let Tony suffer. Do you have any idea how painful colic can be?? Oh please. Get another vet to come.

OMG, Poor Tony....

I gave her bute - it was all I had but I don't think she was even aware of what was going on. The vet came a little while ago and she agreed that she probably had a twisted intestine. So I had her put down. She had virtually no blood pressure so it was just a matter of time...

Thanks for all the prayers & pd...it does help.

This is a sad day for you...but Tony is now across the Rainbow Bridge with my PeeWee. There is no pain there. Only green pastures (bug free!) that go on forever...

:grouphug:

I'm sorry to hear about Tony. She's now at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for your return. ::hug::

I'm so sad that your beloved Tony is gone. Thank goodness you did find her and made her as comfortable as possible. She had you with her and knew she was loved.

I'm so sorry you lost such a good friend. I am glad you had a chance to say goodbye and to remind her of how much you love her.

I am so sorry for your sorrow. Having to put down several of my own horses through out life, I understand your pain. I am positive your horse knows how much she is loved.
