I feel sick-Disney have cancelled my booking

Wow, just vented to a CM about how Disney have treated and are treating UK guests rather shabbily, I was polite, but, when told there is no compensation or refund on Park Hoppers that can't be used for Park hopping on top of the other answers that basically left me feeling that Disney don't a fig about UK guests currently left in limbo, I did take the opportunity to let her know that the offer of a 35% discount to guests that currently cannot travel to the US that was given after the border restrictions came in and cannot be transferred if we are unable to travel was pretty useless and rather cynical of Disney. All she kept saying was that I could be refunded, pretty much their stock response and making it clear they want us to cancel our trips.

If Disney had an ounce of sense and goodwill they would allow UK the opportunity to use the 35% on a similar reservation or take the amount of the discount, in my case £688, off a room reservation in any hotel through to the end of September or December 2021.
So much for the magic eh.

You may or may not agree with me, but, we have saved for our trips and have the funds available, is that going to be the case for US guests next year?

I am so with you on this! Disney UK really haven’t been helpful AT ALL! No Information on where closed resort guests are being moved to and no opportunity to ring ourselves and be moved. I’d heard about the no discount on park hoppers but not experienced it myself. Is this really true that they’re not going to discount the tickets in any way?! WOW!
We had such an amazing experience for our first WDW trip last year (we’re DLP AP holders) that we decided to revisit this year after several DLP trips were cancelled. It’s leaving a pretty sour taste at the moment though.
The only reason we haven’t yet told them to stick it is that we’re booked on a Disney cruise with a non refundable deposit of over £600 for the days before the trip and are hanging in there to see what happen.
If we could walk away from it all with no penalty we would have done so by now!

I think this is how a lot of UK guests are going to end up feeling. It's only a matter of time. I've spoken to CMs via chat, over the phone and by email and getting proper information and answers is like pulling teeth. I haven't been to DLRP for a fair few years, but, I'm looking at heading off there instead. Do WDTC understand the state of limbo UK guests are in and how unhelpful they are being?

Well, I’m a resident of NY state. State, not city. Florida has had a 14 day quarantine order for all NY State residents since this began. And now, NY has a quarantine order if you come form Florida. These orders effectively “close the boarder” for us too. I had 2 trips cancelled so far, 1 with a public 30% discount & 1 with an AP 35% . I have a bounceback 35% for September that is looking very doubtful. And guess what, I lost my discounts too. Can’t carry any of them into 2021 either. I had room only reservations & no free dining, so I didn’t even get the “recovery offer” either. And all 3 reservations were deluxe resort, club level rooms. I could say if Disney had an ounce of sense, they would offer a discount to those of us who are repeat & frequent guests, staying at their most expensive resorts in the most expensive room categories. But I am not being singled & punished & neither are UK visitors. They are sticking to their plans & whether we like it or not, they are at least treating everyone the same.

Disney has in the past given UK residents nice offers, including dates for free dining that US residents haven’t gotten. I know all the reasons, need to plan ahead, cost of flights etc. But many US residents pay huge airfares too & would plan sooner if we could. So right now, we’re all on the same level playing field with that.

I do think it’s pretty presumptuous to assume that UK residents will have funds to travel next year & US residents won’t . Many of us have the funds now & will have them next year too. Not everyone in the US is out of work or has no savings. And UK residents may have emergencies or decide to spend their vacation money other ways before 2021. We’re all disappointed at missing our vacations. But none of us are more deserving of special treatment than others are because of it.

It's probably a good thing that Disney is preemptively cancelling reservations when there are quarantine orders and/or travel bans in place for certain parts of the world. With the EU banning travel from the United States, anyone traveling from there to the US would be stranded here. Not a good position for Disney to be in, and really not a good place for anyone really. The world has changed a lot and everything in basic life has turned upside down. We have to expect that our vacations/holidays will be just as drastically changed as everything else in daily life. My hope is that a vaccine will come in the next year or so and this beast can be kicked.

Are you booked with Disney and did you respond to the email asking what you wanted your options to be? If you didn't respond telling them that you wished to keep your reservation by June 27th it would automatically be cancelled. I'm in a wait line to talk about my reservation using a new number on their website 0800 028 0778 and my wait time is 13 minutes!

wow 13 minutes!!!
That’s amazing. 🤩

Booked direct with Disney international (we are in the U.K.)

I did indeed many, many times state I wished to keep our reservations.

We are from CT and in the same situation as you with quarantine both ways. Hoping Florida lifts theirs and will deal with CTs when we get back since I am retired and can stay hone for 14 days. We have one of the lowest rates in the country now so hopefully it stays that way. Looking forward to Sept. trip but still not convinced it will happen unless travel restrictions ease.
