I know this will sound bad..........I got free dining and am so very thankful. But, a lot of these restaraunts sound so formal. I have always eaten as cheaply as possible with a big family. I just don't know where to choose and am wondering if kids that are used to nuggets and fries are going to try asian and such........It's a nice dilemma to be in but a dilemma nontheless.

most of the places are not formal in the least. Everyone is in their theme park garb and there are plenty of loud people and noisy children.

Don't worry. . .you'll all be fine! Lots of those "nicer" places have nuggets and fries or some similiar kids' meal. And you might be surprised at your kids. . .I know mine are getting more and more adventurous with their eating. At most of the park restaurants, shorts and t-shirts are the norm. . .after all, you're at a theme park! I'm a country girl through and through and I promise you'll be fine. The CM's are wonderful at making you feel right at home.
I hope your first trip will be magical. :wizard:
Just think, your family can broaden their culinary horizons for free!:woohoo:

Yay!! From one "Redneck to Another!!" Not really Redneck actually but understand your dilemma! This will be our fourth time in DW & I have to say, it would not be the same with out eating at some of these great restaurants!

There are lots of less adventurous places for your kids....more meat & potatoes for example, or fries & nuggets! Try the restaurant buffets, they usually have lots of samples. Crystal Palace in MK is a good one; Liberty Tree Tavern is nothing too weird; Chef Mickey is a good buffet; Ohana's is pretty tame food wise; Whispering Canyon; 50's Primetime; Le Cellier is nicer but steak....honestly, there are LOTS of places to try that are not too far out there for your kids!

And honestly, there are almost NO formal restaurants! Maybe the 2TS places *might* be a little more upscale but don't forget, the bulk of the places you will eat at will be in the parks where people who have been walking, sweating, all day, will be sitting next do you! Not FORMAL!

Have a great time! Enjoy your experience! :flower3:

Most restaurants are not super fancy. We really only go to one where we have to dress up. Otherwise we show up in shorts (park attire) and they are pretty relaxed. There is a lot of regular choices at most too. I don't think you will have a problem. I also agree- its a great dilema to have :)

No worries! We tend to eat pretty cheaply & plainly at home, too. Our kids aren't terribly adventurous eaters, but they are surpisingly willing to try new things at WDW -- something about the mouse makes it OK, I guess. :confused3 Even in the more exotic restaurants (Boma, Marrakesh) they both found things they liked.

Redneck country girl here & the WDW restaurants were some of the nicest restaurants I have been to. But at the sametime some of the most comfortable. I never once felt out of place. Take your time making choices & this board is great to find reviews and ask questions. When we had questions about the menu the servers were wonderful at answering and never looked down on us. Enjoy.

T-shirt, shorts and sneakers here. Usually eat at Mc D's, Burger King, Wendys,Subway and Arbys at home. On the free DDP eat at Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Kona, Teppen Edo, Rose and Crown, Spoodles, Chefs de France and many more. You will fit in, 99% of everybody else is doin the same.:cool1::hippie:

O as for the food, Me, DW and DS loved everything, and DD didn't care for much of anything (this is normal) and wished for Mc D's

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee-Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!!!!

Ok now that’s over……………..

Go and enjoy your food and newer and different dining experience!!! Try something different you might be surprised how your kids are open to try different foods, I know my kids were, sure they were hesitant at first but in trying the foods and actually liking it they are now more then open in trying new and exciting things!!!

We are in the same boat. We have never eaten at any of the restaurants that we will be trying during FD. My kids are not used to "fancy" restaurants, but I am sure they will be OK. We usually split CS meals because the dining part of the trip wasn't that important to us. But now that it's free, I am looking forward to enjoying it. My DS11 who is a very picky eater is going to be thrilled that he can have Filet Mignon/Steak every night if he wants. Me, too.:goodvibes My only worry is that I'm going to get used to the "high" life!

Buffets may work best for your kids where they can pick and choose what they want- we will be trying Boma and Chef Mickey for that reason.

Seriously its ok....Casual dress is fine, now if we were discussing V&A that'd be diffrent...You'll love it remember your on vacation to relax and enjoy yourself....Shawnpirate:
