"Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him " (Psalm 37:5-7a, NIV)
And what does waiting on the LORD have to do with waiting for your husband to become a decent human being. God still gave the man free will - if the man chooses to use that free will to be a jerk, God isn't going to stop him.
Now, as I said above, everyone's values are different, some people feel that marriage is a sacred covenant and even if your spouse beats you, you are obligated to stay with him. I don't subscribe to that values system.
