I Feel Like Giving up

Hi,

I know this is not necessary, but I've been trying to find Brer Fox for almost five years and no sign of him. We even lost Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree because of Star Wars Land, because I thought that would of been a good spot for rare characters, but based on this, I think they have low interest of bringing rare characters. I tried to talk to the cast member at the City Hall, and I receive negative results. I tried Storyteller's Cafe, but it didn't work either. I even sometimes e-mail it to Disneyland about it, but I guess they don't even care. So, this maybe there isn't a way to find him and other rare characters and there is no hope to find him. It makes me feel like I have to give up and maybe try to roll with their current franchises and realize maybe people don't care about rare characters. Maybe I should move to Japan since they care more about their characters than here in California.:sad1:

We saw him at Minnie's breakfast a few years ago. We also saw Brer Fox, Bear & Rabbit at an AP event. Good luck finding him.

What kind of AP event? If it's a christmas one, they didn't invited me to come because my expiring date is not November 22 to January 2016

Jiminy Cricket is at AP days this week. What makes a character rare is the fact that they don't appear often.

Jiminy was there?! Good lord, why do I keep missing those kind of things?

UPDATE: Never mind, he's staying until February 28th, so I'm planning to see him next weekend.

He's only there until the 7th. There's a different character every week. And they've announced that Stage 17 will be closed on the 8th, 12th and 13th. They suggested following them on Facebook and said updates could be posted up to twice per day.

Yeah, I found out for the last minute. So I'm going to see him this Saturday.

Follow who on facebook?

Do I have to register and is Jiminy there throughout the day for Annual passholders only?

Maybe I should move to Florida or Japan since they care more about their characters than here in California.:sad1:
I don't know about Tokyo, but in terms of Florida, do you really think they care more about characters or is it a combination of they have more parks (i.e., more locations for characters) and a different "common" rotation? I was looking at today's character lists on the Disneyland App and there are 44 different characters listed for DLR. The WDW App (MDE) has 80 characters listed, but many of them appear at more than one park (e.g., Minnie appears in all four parks), so there are only 54 different characters.

Do you think that some characters that seem "rare" at DLR guests may actually be pretty "common" at WDW and vice-a-versa? For example, I was looking at Kenny the Pirate's site and he lists "Bert" as being rare/uncommon at WDW, but he's a common character at DLR. On the other hand, Lady Tremaine and her daughters are common at WDW, but only out for special occasions at DLR. So for DLR Vets going to WDW, they'd be excited to see that characters like the Termaines, the ones from the Jungle Book, etc. are "common" at WDW, while WDW Vets coming to DLR, might be excited to see Oswald, Olaf, etc. which are "common" at DLR.

I don't think "care" is the right word, but more along the lines of "offer greater opportunities". On a regular basis, you're right, the numbers may be similar in terms of "different" characters, however the same character (say Donald) appears in all four parks as well as character meals at WDW, but has a different outfit at each, so in a way it is a different and unique character, even if it is just Donald in a different outfit. There's also the example you stated where a regular character at DLR (Olaf, Bert, Oswald) is rare at WDW and vice versa (Marie, Gaston, mermaid Ariel). But WDW also has characterpalooza at DHS, so that's a regular chance to meet rare characters that you wouldn't normally see during a scheduled meet. They also have rare characters at their hard ticket events that never meet at DLR (the Seven Dwarfs, Scrooge McDuck, Sandy Claws, the Princeses AND their princes, etc). WDW is just a bigger resort with more opportunities. I don't think it means that DLR cares less about characters though. Not having some of those characters certainly hasn't diminished enthusiasm for the parks nor has it led to a decrease in crowds. I am happy that DLR appears to be offering more character opportunities with some of the major closures (Louis and Dr Facilier appearing regularly on the Mark Twain (they're both rare at either resort), the AP days characters this month, and hopefully we'll see more of that this year.

Thanks for the info guys. It didn't cheer me up, but thanks for trying. But who knows, maybe meeting Jiminy Cricket tomorrow might get my spirits up again.

So true about WDW vs DL with the characters. Jiminey is at AK fairly often, and I saw him at MK years ago. I go to both sets of parks, and it is still fun to find new characters out and about. I waited an hour today to meet Mickey and Minnie in Lunar New year clothes. Was hoping for Chip and Dale, missed them by 5 minutes. I want to find Louis tomorrow at DL. Saw Dr Faciler 2 days ago.

My all time best was seeing Francis AND Tuck & Roll from Bugs life at Epcot one year, during Flower and Garden, the theme was something to do with bugs that weekend. I GASPED when they popped out from backstage. No other guests were around, so we got great photos. The costumes were amazing, and I have never seen them again, this was 10 years ago, or more.

Don't move to Florida for the character love. They're in the midst of some character cuts there, including Lady Tremaine in the MK. :(

That's sad news since we will be there in a month and one of DD's goals is to meet many of the characters that are not too common at DL. I heard about Aurora not being in France World Showcase which is disappointing.

Brer Fox used to stalk me in Critter Country...of course, this was back in the mid-90s.
