I Feel Like Giving up

In a rare character appearance update for Valentine's Day, Naveen is making regular appearances with Tiana today on the Mark Twain, Prince Eric is making short scheduled appearances at the wishing well with Ariel, and Prince Phillip is doing the same with Aurora. The DL app indicates Eric and Phillip are staying for only five minutes at a time but it's been more 10 min or so per appearance.

Do you think that some characters that seem "rare" at DLR guests may actually be pretty "common" at WDW and vice-a-versa? For example, I was looking at Kenny the Pirate's site and he lists "Bert" as being rare/uncommon at WDW, but he's a common character at DLR. On the other hand, Lady Tremaine and her daughters are common at WDW, but only out for special occasions at DLR. So for DLR Vets going to WDW, they'd be excited to see that characters like the Termaines, the ones from the Jungle Book, etc. are "common" at WDW, while WDW Vets coming to DLR, might be excited to see Oswald, Olaf, etc. which are "common" at DLR.

I totally agree with you about how WDW vets are excited to see the characters that are more common in DLR and vise versa for DLR fans going to WDW. The one thing I did notice about our first DLR trip is that we met so many rare characters there because you can't find them in WDW (we are WDW vets). For instance we got to meet the Penguin from Mary Poppins, Max, Koda, Kenai, Captain Hook, and a few others. We are going back to DLR in June and we are very excited to meet Olaf, Oswald, some of the Avengers, and I really want to meet Bert (missed him the last time) because they don't come out at all in WDW :goodvibes.

I have never met Brer Rabbit.
Wanna tell him that Splash is the best log flume ride ever!

Hi,

I know this is not necessary, but I've been trying to find Brer Fox for almost five years and no sign of him. We even lost Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree because of Star Wars Land, because I thought that would of been a good spot for rare characters, but based on this, I think they have low interest of bringing rare characters. I tried to talk to the cast member at the City Hall, and I receive negative results. I tried Storyteller's Cafe, but it didn't work either. I even sometimes e-mail it to Disneyland about it, but I guess they don't even care. So, this maybe there isn't a way to find him and other rare characters and there is no hope to find him. It makes me feel like I have to give up and maybe try to roll with their current franchises and realize maybe people don't care about rare characters. Maybe I should move to Florida or Japan since they care more about their characters than here in California.:sad1:

Hell no! You got Oswald.

Nothing beats him!

I don't know about Tokyo, but in terms of Florida, do you really think they care more about characters or is it a combination of they have more parks (i.e., more locations for characters) and a different "common" rotation? I was looking at today's character lists on the Disneyland App and there are 44 different characters listed for DLR. The WDW App (MDE) has 80 characters listed, but many of them appear at more than one park (e.g., Minnie appears in all four parks), so there are only 54 different characters.

Yep Florida guests would kill to get a meet a greet for Olaf.

The queues would be 6 hours long!

If you ever go to wdw, check out characterpalooza in DHS. I met Brer Fox there last year

They announced that Olaf would be coming to DHS, so WDW folks will finally get a chance to meet him! It'll be interesting to see how long the line is and for how long it'll stay long.

We should do a sweepstake at how long the line will be. I am gonna say on average about 2 hours.
But maybe the Frozen hype is calming down a bit now.

We met Brer Fox at Storytellers back in Sept. 2015, so not long ago at all. My DDs and DH had no clue who he was!

Yeah, but some resources who work at Disneyland say Brer Fox and Brer Bear know longer meet 'n' greet at Critter Country anymore.
I think that's probably right. I've seen them working the Splash line in the peak of summer. The spot where they enter and exit "on stage" is on the lower level of Hungry Bear, so that's why people see them there. But they're rare characters, so if I see them on Tuesday I wouldn't expect to see them again the next day or the next Tuesday. I think they really were pretty random. Probably only on very busy days. With Critter Country having an extended refurb last year and now with Hungry Bear being covered by construction wall and scrims I think that they probably dropped those characters for now to redirect people elsewhere. I also don't see Disney investing in new costumes for those characters, so they probably try to limit how much time they are being worn.

I just hope Disneyland has more rare characters coming up even if it's going to be at DCA.

We've seen Brer Fox and Bear in Critter Country. We used to see them there every trip, but it was a few years ago. They weren't good about stopping for pictures though.

Hi,
I feeling a little blue again. I haven't seen Brer Fox since 2011. I try to find him at Storyteller's Cafe, but he's not there. He's very elusive to find at this point. I e-mail Disneyland a few times and they told me he's no longer regular and he might come on special occasions like Long Lost Friends week. I didn't get a chance to see him at Long Lost Friends week because my parents hawaiian trip and I was ticked. Anyway, I know we lost Big Thunder Ranch too because I thought that was a perfect place for rare characters. I was hoping to find annual passholders parties too to see they have him or not. I just hope Disneyland does a rare character event next year with hopefully Brer Fox included.:sad1:
