But the bears seem to think I do!

This little cutie was sleeping in a tree across the street from my house a few days ago. LOVE his feet!!! :p

Oh my! Are you sure you don't live in the woods??? ;)

Where was momma bear? :eek:

You aren't serious!?!

Are you???

That would so freak me out. Then again, squirrels freak me out. :eek:

Typically, mama bear stays within a few BLOCKS of the baby, so she could have been anywhere.

Most families understood the possible danger and kept the kids inside that afternoon. I was lucky enough to be able to watch it from my living room window! :p

You said most of the families kept their kids inside, what of the few that didn't??? :earseek:

That baby is sooo cute. :hug:

The police stayed near by and kept the bears path secure. Any children that were outside were told to go home, which of course, they didn't do. LOL

Mid summer when the raspberries start to ripen the bears do start wandering through our yards...and it's VERY disconcerting to realize how quiet they are. I could easily turn to find one plundering my berries. I do keep that in mind at that time of year. :cool:

That is a cute bear but I prefer to visit them in the Smokies, not my backyard! Around here someone would have either tried to hurt the bear or gotten hurt themselves.:rolleyes:

No more sneaking yummies out there HMG!!:p

Wow! How cool!!! Where do you live, if you don't mind me asking? My parents think they saw a bear at their lake house last year which is in mid missouri. I didn't think that we had bears in that area. I also saw some peacocks in my neighborhood (Suburban St. Louis)! That was quite a shock. It turns out they had escaped from someone's home who lived nearby in the country.

Oh man, what about pets i nthe area??

I think I'll stay down here in SE Minnesota, LOL, with the canadian geese.

You keep the bears.

I live on the Iron Range of Minnestoa....about 60 miles north of Duluth. LOL

We get all sorts of critters but mostly skunks!:p

Once in a while a moose will wander thru the neighborhood, other times fox or racoons.

LScot, hee hee, who me? Feed the bears? Nevah!!! :crazy:

Hercamore, the dogs in the area go NUTS when wild animals wander through. Their barking is often what tips us off that there's something out there! *shiver* :eek:

"LScot, hee hee, who me? Feed the bears? Nevah!!!"

Yeah, right. I think you'd feed anything that either looked hungry or looked as if it was saying "pretty please?" You're just a ol' teddy bear yourself! (j/k I know you know not to feed the bears)

What a great photo! And I got excited last night because we had two deer in our backyard, but you've got us beat!

That is so cool! I would love to see a little sleeping bear in the tree. All we get are nasty racoons and opossums. :crazy:

NJ is having a big bear problem. My gf lives in an urban area not far from Manhattan and gets them in her yard all the time.

I've had fox, turkey, groundhogs, possums, raccoons, deer but no bear. Although rarely they do show up in our county.

That's what I figured out from watching this season of Sopranos!

hey HMG!! I have one of those, his name is Earl, I do live in the woods though

<img src="http://users.ncia.net/~rwoodson/bear2.jpg">

<img src="http://users.ncia.net/~rwoodson/bear3.jpg">

what a coincidence are you sure we're not related?

BTW I was just really really curious, plus I wanted to know how to spell curiosity

Beauty: I never have a camera when the moose are out, but I am going up to Evans Notch Tuesday and I bet I see a few of them, I will have the camera, maybe a couple will cooperate
and Earl is not so much dangerous as...well...Earl is kind of a doofus, he's fallen off the deck several times, so far the only danger has been that I might choke on something laughing at him

Earl, The Doofus Bear............not the typical "Lethal Weapon" type bear now is he? :crazy:

Ran, I was curious, is it true? Do bears uh.............spit in the woods? I've heard rumors to that effect but I wasn't sure. Maybe you can verify this for us? :p
