I don't get it(Please be nice LOL)

I've never said I would leave if my candidate didn't win, but I've been told by many on this board that if I didn't like it, to leave.

I a democrat in an extremely republican state. I work for a newspaper as a photographer. Our editorial board endorsed Obama and the letters we received from republicans in the area were down right scary. For the first time ever we ran disclaimers above the endorsements saying that the endorsements were solely the opinions of the editiorial board so that the rest of us wouldn't get the onslaught of threatening letters, emails and phone calls that the publisher and managing editor were receiving.

We also received comments that if Obama won it was time to find a new place to live. I think the republicans have no one to blame but themselves. If they had done a decent job of running this country Obama wouldn't have been elected.

It's very likely Canada won't "want" them. Or any of us for that matter. That has nothing to do with someone's voting preference so much as Canada's immigration policies don't make it very easy to move there.

reasons someone might say such things...

Sour Grapes;
Fear of Change;
Die Hard Republican;
PMS

... btw - if they just up and move to Canada, wouldn't that make them illegal immigrants?

I think people don't realize how hard it is to actually emigrate to Canada. I am a dual citizen so I can go whenever I want. I had a friend who always talked about it and was shocked when I showed her the requirments.

It happens every election. I'm still waiting for Alec Baldwin to leave.:rotfl:

No kidding! I guess everyone has forgotten that whole debacle. He seems to have fared just fine under GWB.

If I'm moving anywhere, it's going to be to Alaska.

I actually had a friend state this today...she wants to move to Canada now that Obama won (she was kidding of course, her DH is Navy and they aren't going anywhere.) I told her to stick around because Canada has same sex marriage and universal health care, LOL...things she doesn't like.

I don't get it either. At least for some die-hard liberals it makes sense because Canada and Europe are more liberal countries than ours but I can't imagine a conservative wanting to move there??

My neighbor is apparently moving to Jamaica since Obama won.

I do NOT think it has as much to do with the fact that he's disappointed Obama won... as much as it has to do with the fact that he really wants to move to Jamaica!

I was hoping he and Susan Sarandon and Barbara Streisand would buy a villa in France and head off together in a foaming mass of indignant rage, but they flaked out and broke their promise to leave. Thay are such spoil sports!:laughing:

I think this statement is funny since our Prime Minister is Head of the Conservative Party.:laughing:

I have never said that I would move out of the US before, but that is only because it isn't an option for us. My husband's job is something that can only be done in the US so we are here no matter what, it seems. :guilty: I certainly wouldn't move out of the country as a knee-jerk reaction anyway, but I would certainly want to if the country actually does start going in the direction that BO wants. I love my country, but the things I love about it look like they might be on their way out. :sad1: Of course if the American public wants these changes, then I guess it is up to those of us that don't like it to leave. :confused3

At this point, the most we would do would be to move to a more conservative part of the country. After we retire, we would consider moving out of the country (if this country really does go down a liberal, socialistic path), but where to? So many countries are socialized today. :guilty: I wonder if a time will come where there isn't a place for us. :confused3

But is your country conservative enough for "american conservatives?" :laughing:

I don't think anyone is moving, which is probably good for Canada, LOL.

I would prefer not to let Barbara Streisand in myself, but I think technically since the state of Nevada took Celine Dion off our hands for so long... we are in fact obligated.

:lmao: that is true but I think Celine kept her castle in Quebec so we didn't really get rid of her.

Stephen Harper thinks a lot like George Bush. Is that conservative enough?
