I do not understand how this "linking" of reservations helps.

DH and I will get to WDW on December 29th, and then together with a stay at VB, I will be in a DVC through Jan. 27th or so. Now, we just connected the Marathon weekend part to the New Years eve part, and it's all one reservation, with all 8 of the names on the reservation that starts with a BWV studio. Over the next month, I'll be adding other names to the people who will be with me at VB, or AKV, I already have some of these later reservations. Even at 8 months out, I have a waitlist for a BWV standard studio in January. Yes, they are very popular, and I should have booked it as soon as I decided I wanted to be there. All in all there's going to be at least 18 different people staying with me, or in other rooms that I have during the month. Will everyones' name be at the top and all of these next stays just be on the same page, reservation number, even though now with the break I have different numbers? It used to be that I can make a copy of just the reservation that involves a friend and send that to them. This seems more complicated. It's not a big thing, but I do wish the stays just weren't grouped together.

It's confusing on mine too...because on some dates it's just us and some dates my husband's family is joining us...but under our travel number it lists everyone even though they won't be in the 1 bedroom at OKW with us.

Having our reservations linked with different groups coming and going at different times at BWV was a MESS. The manager we talked to on my last day of trying to fix it for people who were still there and who would be making one more move said we would have been better off NOT to link the reservations. Everyone's name was on everything, keys got mixed up, late arrivals had their ME bags send to one of our previous rooms! Never again.

We don't seem to have a choice to have the reservations linked. Different places, different people, it all comes out with one reservation number. I will be having people come by plane toward the end of the month, so from what you're saying, their ME reservation could be affected.

Their arrival dates were wrong on their ME slips, but that didn't seem to cause any problems, since they went to the ME desk to get it straight. What caused the problem was the fact that we had changed rooms since the date on the ME slip, and the luggage went to the original room. Well, first they said it had never been on the bus, and that my niece herself (and 2 kids) had not arrived on the bus, probably because their names were not listed to arrive that day, but on the earlier day. Then they found the luggage in our previous room. I believe you can ask to NOT have the reservations linked, and if we do another complicated scenario involving comings and going and room changes, we will not link them.

Add me to the list of people who aren't sure what Members or DVCMC gain by using a single confirmation number for a split stays.

We had an issue with Magical Express reservations for family members who are joining us for the second part of a split stay. We discovered that once ME reservations are made through MS, we can call ME directly to make modifications or corrections. The ME-direct phone # is 866-599-0951.

Our trip starts June 7th and we have not been able to do online check-in, presumably because of the single confirmation number/split stay issue. We've talked to MS about our inability to do online check-in, and was told it was an ongoing problem.

If you have 2 families travelling on the same dates and same resort, having one travel plan seems like a good idea. Well, for example, they automatically put the 2 rooms close to each other. Having more complicated reservations in the same travel plan does get messed up frequently. There are other threads with various complaints.

It is true that since the system upgrade, by default, when you call MS, they automatically book your related reservations in the same travel plan. And I now know better to request them not to if I think it doesn't help to be in the same travel plan. Try calling MS and request to speak to a supervisor. I think they can "split up" your reservations so they are not in the same travel plan. I haven't done this specific scenario. But I have other occasions requiring splitting up the reservations and the supervisor seemed to be able to do it with ease.

The single reservation number also seems to somehow hold on to reservations that have been cancelled. In Nov I originally had AKV concierge for a 3 nights but then switched to BWV standard. Whenever I call MS says that they see the Nov reservation at AKV and only when they look deeper do they see it's cancelled. I'm remaining hopeful that we won't have any problems in Nov.

I agree it is confusing, and it does not seem to be helpful to the members. However, how LUCKY are you that you will be in some DVC somewhere from December 29- January 27. Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

I think there is a gain to DVC that we are not being made aware of and if we were not sure everyone would like it.

I am lucky! It's due to "fear of falling, driving in snow and ice." I know there still will be winter weather, but I decided not to teach during the winter quarter. This year I had an operation and couldn't teach in the winter, and I didn't miss driving in the bad weather at all!

I think I might try that.

We have a 2 bedroom with 8, then a studio with 3, then a 1 bedroom with 3.

They have my son listed in THREE different ways, and have tried to tell me it's supposed to be like that. If it is, then why aren't hubby and I listed in three different ways, too? Hmm?

I can't see how it's enhancing my experience.

We just returned from a split reservation and could not do the online check in prior to arrival.
I am seeing where many of you have different persons coming in and out during the time, but am wondering why I was told by MS that all persons must be listed on the room for the whole timeframe. I had asked about adding one person when two were departing. At no time, would I have been over the limit though.
Do you give their names to MS or just add them at the check in desk? Have you had problems with their use of ME?
