I didn't need to see this...

I really shouldn't have looked. ;)

I was going through my bookmarks on my machine trying to find one in particular and came across the website for Blaze's breeder. I figured why not so pulled it up. I expected the website to be empty or "no longer available" or something because she said she is having to retire from breeding (not enough time).

Just before I heard that news (about 2 months ago) I had decided I wouldn't mind having another of her kittens. Blaze is just so loving and well-behaved, and so were all of her kittens that I'd seen, that I kinda wanted our third (and probably final cat) to come from her. But when I heard she'd be retiring, I said oh well.

(By the way, after we lost Sage she halted her breeding program until she could get all her cats tested twice and all came back negative twice, which again points to a bad vaccination for the most probable source of Sage's FIP -- a vaccination she no longer gets)

Well, anyway, I went to her website a few minutes ago...

...her front page no longer shows pictures of her breeders. Instead, it has pictures of all her currently available kittens, ready to go home August/September.

The first one on the list is a darling little tortie girl, similar to the stray I'm feeding and trying to help catch for that other couple. The one I really want to keep but know I can't. The page says this girl is still available.

I didn't need to see that.

We don't *need* another cat until we can get a house. We really don't. Granted, we're trying to get into a house by the end of October so it would just be for a month or two, but still. We really don't need another cat.

But she's so cute and I wanted anoter cat from Blaze's breeder and this would be the last chance and I want a girl and I want a *torbie/tortie/calico* girl.

I didn't need to see that webpage.

I've sent her an email asking if the girl is still available and if so, how much she is, but let her know my DH may not let me have another one yet. I don't know if I want her to email back saying *yes* the girl is still available (even better, available at a good price), or if I want her to email back saying no she isn't available so there's no decision to make.

Sigh.

Beware of the power of the internet. We have a 130 lb Alaskan Malamute because the breeder sent us an email puppy picture and we drove 4 hours to go get him because he was so cute:rolleyes:

Yes! You need another one! I know you don't have the room yet but you will soon. We just got a 3rd and she is a delight to us and a pain in the you-know-where to our other 2, but at least life is interesting. You won't regret it!

Well, I heard back from her. The little girl is indeed still available. She didn't tell me how much, though. I asked for more info on the girl.

Last night when I finally got DH to respond to my email about her he was iffy. He liked her and wants another cat in the future, but thinks we don't have room right now and should save the money for a house. Both true. But if it's just going to be for a month before we *do* get into the house, and if she's reasonably priced (which this breeder tends to be) and if she'll come meet us half-way so there would be no overnight stay....

I don't know. The breeder did say she's not getting out of the buisness entirely after all -- she's keeping one breeding pair, so we would have the chance to get one more from her in the future when everything would be more convenient. Everything head says no, wait. Everything heart says "it's just for a month, it'll work out".

So we'll see.

We have five cats so guess what I'd say to do. :)
